Chapter 482: Chapter 482: My Heart Isn’t That Petty
"What are you thinking about?" Seeing her silent, the male colleague couldn’t resist waving his hand in front of her.
"I’m just wondering, why is there such a big difference between people? I don’t think I look bad, so why hasn’t a guy like the boss taken a fancy to me?"
Their boss was young and handsome, said to be only twenty-two, definitely a promising prospect. Plus, he was rumored to be a rich second generation, with his only flaw probably being that he already had a girlfriend.
"What are you thinking about? The girl is a graduate student from Jing University and supposedly has been childhood sweethearts with our boss, with a very stable relationship. Anyway, you’d better stop dreaming!"
"Can’t I even talk about it?" She still had some self-awareness.
"I’m just worried about you getting too carried away. The boss is great, but he’s not someone everyone can pine for. It’s more important for a girl to have a stable job. I’m telling you this as an old classmate. Don’t underestimate our company just because it’s small now; it has great prospects. I have a feeling that within five years, our company will definitely become one of the top big companies in Jing City. By then, just wait for your ship to come in! I heard that those big companies asks for graduates from 985/211 universities for the receptionist positions, but with your seniority here, even if your degree isn’t enough, you can make up for it with experience. Just hang in there for a few years, become a veteran, and the company won’t be able to dismiss you easily."
The two were high school classmates who ended up at different colleges after their college entrance examinations. The male colleague had just graduated from Jing University and had interned for three months during his senior year before he recently signed a formal contract. The girl had only graduated from a community college, and it was he who had helped her get this job.
"You’re right. I need to work hard and secure a future receptionist position at a big company." The girl was instantly motivated, as if she could see herself sitting at the front desk of a big company.
"That’s the right attitude! Alright, I’m heading in. Take care and work hard." The man stood up after speaking and headed back to the office.
On the other side, Shen Zhaozhao pushed open the door to Sheng Chuyi’s office.
First, she glanced inside, and seeing only Sheng Chuyi there, she walked in.
"Come in, come in. Why stand at the door sneaking around?" Sheng Chuyi watched her behavior, expressing his helplessness.
Shen Zhaozhao: "Isn’t it just in case there was someone else inside? I didn’t want to interrupt. By the way, when did your company hire a receptionist?"
"We hired one last week. You haven’t been around, so you didn’t know. As the company is getting on track, a receptionist is essential, otherwise, visitors might think we’re not a legitimate business," Sheng Chuyi explained.
"You don’t need to rush to explain, I didn’t say anything." She had just been joking before, she didn’t expect him to take it seriously.
"Isn’t it just because I didn’t want you to get the wrong idea?" Sheng Chuyi said with a smile.
Shen Zhaozhao pouted, "I’m not that petty."
How could a company not have female employees? Previously, it was fine due to fewer staff, but in the future, the number of female employees was sure to increase. If she was to fuss over this, then there was no need to keep the company running.
"Don’t worry, I won’t interfere with the company. But if you need help with something, feel free to ask me." She was soon to be a graduate student at Jing University. She might not be good at highly specialized tasks, but she could still help out with little things.
"Do you really want to help out?" This girl had never been this proactive before; given extra time, she’d prefer to sleep in at the apartment.
Shen Zhaozhao: "I can’t come every day since I still have classes. But when I’m free, I definitely can." After all, it was better to do something meaningful than to just sit around doing nothing.
