The man released Qin Hao’s foot and settled down in a chair on one side, saying, “So you’re Qin Hao’s adopted daughter? Good timing on your return, your adoptive father owes us money, and we’re here to collect!”

“How much does he owe you?” Ye Zhen put the groceries on the table and helped Qin Hao up from the floor.

“Not much, just three hundred thousand,” the leader spoke up.

Ye Zhen turned to her adoptive father beside her.

The latter yawned and said, “I just borrowed ten thousand.”

Ye Zhen looked back at the man in charge.

“Your adoptive father did borrow ten thousand, but we’re not a charity. Ten thousand with a usury rate of five percent, added up to this day, comes to exactly three hundred thousand with interest,” the leading man explained.

“You actually took a usury loan? Are you out of your mind?” Ye Zhen frowned and glared at her adoptive father.

The latter still had the same nonchalant expression, as if he wasn’t the one just roughed up, and said, “They said they could charge less interest.”

“That’s right, we charge others six percent interest, but we gave your adoptive father a break at five percent. We’ve been quite considerate,” the man spoke up leisurely.

“We don’t have that much money, could you give us a few more days?” Ye Zhen knew that reasoning with these people was useless.

The only thing to do was to find a way to raise the money!

“No money? Fine, then we’ll just break one of his hands to cover the interest,” the man said with the calmest voice, the threat in his words chilling.

“Wait!” Ye Zhen pulled out a card from her pocket and said, “There’s fifty thousand here, I’ll pay you the rest later.”

The man took the card and stood up, saying, “Okay, I’ll give you two more days, but don’t forget to add the interest.” Afterward, he waved to his underlings, “Let’s go, on to the next one.”

“Who said you could give them the money?” As the group walked away, the adoptive father crinkled his brow and said.

Ye Zhen looked at him coldly, “Or should I watch them chop off your hand? Fine, or should I go get the money back right now?” She knew she couldn’t really get the money back; she was just speaking in the heat of the moment.

The adoptive father looked up at her and said, “You don’t need to worry about my issues. Since you’ve found your biological parents, better not to come back again.” With that, he turned around and lay back down in the room.

Ye Zhen watched his back, her voice emerging coldly, “Qin Hao, are you still a man or not? Do you plan on living in this rundown way forever?”

“And what if I am?” The man in the bed turned around, his face expressionless.

Ye Zhen looked at him, “I will earn a lot of money, every penny you’ve lost, I will make it all back. But can you at least act like a man and not continue this life of decay?”

The man yawned, closed his eyes, and said, “Then we’ll talk when you’ve made the money.”

Ye Zhen looked at his figure for a while, her face devoid of emotion; after a moment, she picked up the groceries and went to the kitchen.

Shen Zhaozhao had been unclear about the situation in the room and had not rashly followed inside; now seeing that everyone had left, she finally entered the room and asked, “Is everything okay?”

“It’s fine!” Ye Zhen shook her head at her, then smiled and said, “In a bit, you can taste my cooking.”

“Sure!”

Shen Zhaozhao couldn’t help but smile as well.
