Chapter 94: Twice Now
Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Twice Now
Saturday was Jin Kui’s turn to be on duty, a lucky day in the Huangdao calendar, good for going out.
He had refused He Fang’s plan to come over to his house and instead, Qin Guanglin left the house to take a bus to Luo City University to find her.
Aunt had not yet left, and he didn’t want He Fang to have any contact with her.
Anyone who interacted with her felt nauseous, babbling like something incessant without self-awareness, and completely lacked consideration for others’ feelings. A grown woman loathed by people and dogs alike, her brother-in-law had apologized for her uncountable times, yet she just wouldn’t learn to restrain herself.
Better to leave early for good, then for sure he would have to drag Teacher He out to celebrate.
Yes, definitely not looking for an excuse to go out with Teacher He, it was just a simple celebration.
"Over here."
Qin Guanglin had already spotted He Fang from a distance, wearing the white floral dress he had bought her; she strolled towards him, exuding an air of classic elegance.
The dress was a perfect match, no doubt he hadn’t made a mistake in buying it.
He waved and approached her, but He Fang didn’t speak, instead, she leaned forward and stared intently at his lips.
"What are you looking at?" Qin Guanglin felt uncomfortable and tucked his lips in, hiding them from her view.
"It’s really swollen, isn’t it!" He Fang exclaimed. She hadn’t known what to expect when he mentioned it yesterday, but now she could clearly see it.
"It’s because of you!" Qin Guanglin retorted angrily, grabbing her hand, turning away, and complaining, "Who told you to be so rough?"
"But you really liked it at the time," He Fang said with a proud smile, feeling a great sense of achievement.
Mission accomplished – kissing boyfriend until swollen (1/1).
Major vengeance exacted.
"Uh..." Qin Guanglin was at a loss for words and unconsciously licked his lips, having to admit he did indeed like it very much.
Such things were best when both parties were fully invested.
Seeing that he was silent, the smile on He Fang’s face grew even brighter, her eyes curving into crescents, "Want to try again?"
"Try again?"
Qin Guanglin’s expression showed conflict. His lips were not obvious at a glance right now, but what if they became like sausage lips after another go?
But to refuse just out of fear seemed like a loss.
"If you don’t want to, never mind," He Fang walked ahead, pulling him towards the direction of the square, "You mentioned wanting to go shopping last time. Today, let’s indulge you. After this place, we can continue at Shengtian Square, how about that?"
Today he hadn’t worn his perpetual plaid shirt, opting for a striped short-sleeve instead. It was clear he had made an effort to dress up, but there was no noticeable change from before.
No rescue for his sense of aesthetic, she would have to help him pick a few suitable outfits.
"Wait." Qin Guanglin pulled her back for a peck, completing the task for the day before he continued to follow her.
All of a sudden, it felt like being in the throes of passionate love.
"I thought you’d forgotten."
He Fang moved her fingers a few times to interlock theirs, swinging their arms to express her good mood, "Love you."
Qin Guanglin’s heart blossomed with joy; his spirits lifted even higher in an instant, "Say it again."
"Love you."
"Such sweet talk." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of fruit candy, "A reward for you!"
He had grabbed a handful before leaving the house, keeping them on hand for when she felt like having some.
"You brought these?" He Fang accepted it with a small surprise.
It was inconvenient to carry in her dress, and throwing them in her bag would make it messy. She had even pondered whether to take a couple with her when leaving.
"Is it good?" Qin Guanglin watched her pop the candy into her mouth, his hand ready to take the wrapper, "If you like it, I’ll bring some every day."
He Fang stopped walking and turned her head to look at him without saying a word.
"What’s wrong?" he asked, puzzled.
"What if I want to kiss you now?"
"Like yesterday?"
"Like yesterday."
Qin Guanglin looked from left to right, "In public... isn’t that inappropriate?"
The two of them were walking on the sidewalk, not far from a traffic light. Since it was the weekend, there were quite a lot of pedestrians around, and even he, with his thick skin, couldn’t bring himself to do it.
He Fang pursed her lips and tiptoed to give him a peck on the cheek, "Then you’ll owe me one."
"...Alright."
Qin Guanglin felt something was off about this, what did she mean he’ll owe her? Wasn’t it her who would owe him?
Who was getting the better end of this deal?
"This candy is really sweet, where did you buy it?"
"Online, I’ll buy the same kind next time."
The couple strolled leisurely down the sidewalk. As the sun grew stronger, he let go of He Fang’s hand, fished an umbrella out of his backpack, and resumed his duty as an "umbrella guard."
He couldn’t let his radiant girlfriend get sunburned into a little brown girl.
He had prepared everything needed for shopping in advance. With such thoughtfulness, he couldn’t believe he wouldn’t be able to... ahem, he kept misspeaking, he couldn’t believe he wouldn’t be able to successfully marry her.
Qin Guanglin had already planned it all out last night, he even Googled shopping strategies—Teacher He’s words from that outing were still stuck in his heart. Having to wait three more years to legitimately wake up together, who could withstand that?
He needed to step up his game.
He Fang had no clue about his little schemes, only wondering when her boyfriend’s wooden head had become so enlightened.
Had the training plan she hadn’t yet halfway implemented already worked on its own?
Hooking her arm through Qin Guanglin’s, He Fang sucked on her candy and told him, "That’s twice now."
"What ’twice’?" Qin Guanglin was taken aback, not catching on.
With a sly smile and narrowed eyes, He Fang leaned towards his ear and whispered in a lower voice, "I’m going to kiss you hard twice."
"..."
Qin Guanglin’s heart skipped a beat, "Does it have to be hard?"
He was a bit scared.
Whether or not he could take it was one thing, but having a swollen face and being unable to meet people would be a problem.
Teacher He from yesterday morning... was really quite fierce.
"It has to be hard," Teacher He said maliciously, blowing into his ear, "Are you scared?"
"I’m scared," Qin Guanglin admitted, getting a bit nervous, oddly feeling like the first time they went to the movies, "Stop fooling around."
Their eyes met, and Qin Guanglin felt a tightening in his chest. Her look seemed... like flirting, right?
It must be!
He couldn’t help but turn his head to avoid He Fang’s gaze, swallowing quietly.
It seemed like she was gearing up to cause trouble again.
Seeing him so on edge made He Fang laugh, "Okay, let’s get going."
He’s still green.
But it’s actually quite fun.
"Which way shall we go first?" Qin Guanglin asked, relieved by her return to normal. He really feared she might do something unsuitable on the street.
"That way, first we’ll buy you a couple of shirts."
"I have plenty of shirts; we don’t need to buy any." He was a pragmatist; as long as his clothes were enough to wear, he was fine. Having too many was just a waste, "Let’s buy for you instead."
Pragmatism didn’t work on Teacher He. Changing into a different outfit gave a different vibe, of course, the more purchases, the better.
"Those old clothes of yours should be thrown out," He Fang said disparagingly, tugging at the hem of his shirt, "This is last year’s, isn’t it?"
"Seems like it, I’ve certainly not bought any this year." Qin Guanglin didn’t care, "As long as I can wear them, and they aren’t torn or dirty."
"Now that you have a girlfriend, wearing these rags brings down my style," He Fang glanced at him sideways, "Do you think we match standing together?"
"We don’t match?" Qin Guanglin felt quite good about himself, looking himself over then at He Fang, "We match pretty well."
"Are you going to listen or not?"
"I’ll listen."
