Chapter 346: Chapter 339: Life Must Go On

"What is that thing?"

Several days of exhaustion had diminished Qin Guanglin’s curiosity. He glanced at the unopened delivery box on the table, too lazy to unpack it, and directly asked He Fang.

If it had been earlier, he would have eagerly opened it right away.

He Fang turned her face away to avoid his gaze and casually said, "You’ll know in a bit."

He had no idea how long "a bit" would be. He Fang was busy sticking a thermometer in her mouth. Bored, Qin Guanglin took a bath, sprawled on the bed, and stretched his hands behind himself, massaging his lower back, preparing for the upcoming task.

He had never thought that sometimes this could also become a kind of pressure...

Pre-marriage obstacles, post-marriage saviors; he missed the times when her relatives were around.

"I’m already thirty..." Qin Guanglin muttered with his eyes closed.

He Fang, with a thermometer in her mouth, ignored him. She used to say she was young every day, as energetic as a teddy bear, but now acknowledging her age seemed too late.

"Now that I think about it, my life has been quite dramatic... marrying a Time Traveler, saving my own life, bringing my daughter back, and then leading a simple life, hidden from the world—I could make a movie, hmm... a comic hero film."

Qin Guanglin, shirtless, lay on the bed massaging himself while sighing with his eyes closed. After several years of working out, his muscles were quite defined now, which made He Fang grin.

Starting over, he had struck it big.

"That damned fate is the big villain. We rise to resist, fighting hard. With a paintbrush as my weapon, I shake the void with a raise of my hand. The overwhelming pressure causes this world to barely hold on as cracks in space keep appearing. Then with a flick of my wrist, a stroke of paint, a surge of power bursts forth, intertwining into a rainbow light beam, pouring fiercely onto the villain..."

Qin Guanglin rambled, completely lost in his fantasy, not even aware that He Fang had left. He fantasized about becoming a comic hero, stirring up storms with his eyes closed.

Hey, if comic heroes have superpowers, their kidneys must be top-notch.

When He Fang came back after a bath, Qin Guanglin had been battling the big villain for three days and nights, about to unleash his ultimate move, when he heard He Fang call him.

"Why don’t you write a novel? You’re quite good at making stories."

"Hey, I could turn it into..."

Qin Guanglin was about to say that he could adapt it into a comic when he opened his eyes and saw He Fang, suddenly speechless.

A white coat and a nurse’s cap, just appearing out of nowhere, caught him off guard.

After a moment of silence, he swallowed quietly, feeling a bit dry in the mouth, and licked his lips.

"You look pretty sassy."

...

...

In the following three days, three delivery boxes were consecutively unpacked. Qin Guanglin suffered yet enjoyed every moment, each time feeling like unlocking a scratch card surprise.

With energy to spare but not the strength, pushing nearly thirty, he let out a sigh typical of someone in their fifties.

He was really tired.

"If this continues, I’ll start losing hair. I can’t take it."

On the last day, Qin Guanglin climbed up from the couch, his back making cracking sounds. He instinctively reached to support it, grimacing as he twisted a few times, then grabbed a bottle of nutritional drink from the fridge, sipping it as he went to the balcony.

He Fang was there, handling a gorgeous yet cumbersome Hanfu. Such clothes looked beautifully ethereal when worn but were a real hassle to wash, and she was somewhat regretful now. Looking up at Qin Guanglin, she said irritably, "It’s over."

"Good..." Qin Guanglin sighed sincerely, finally able to rest.

"What’s with that expression? Was it really that unpleasant?" He Fang, seeing his face, felt even more aggrieved, "Who was howling earlier?"

"Tsk...it’s just exhausting," he said, as he went to fetch something. "Wait for me, I’ll grab it."

Qin Guanglin nervously held the Nutrition Express in his hands and darted to the study to rummage through his things, retrieving the test strip. As he read the instructions on the box, he explained, "It says here that it can detect in one to two weeks. Since our first time it’s been...six days, right, six days. Starting tomorrow, you’ll pee on it every morning. I bought a whole pack, enough to last a month—you can test till this time next month if needed."

"Why did you buy so many?" He Fang frowned.

"For you to use."

"Do I need that many?"

"Well, just to be prepared, just in case they’re not accurate..." Qin Guanglin also felt he had bought too many. At the time, he didn’t know what he was thinking; since it was for He Fang, he impulsively bought a whole bunch.

The more he talked, the sillier he felt. So, he changed the subject, "Anyway, I’ll put them in the bathroom. You don’t have to do it every morning; just give it a go whenever you pee, so we can get the news about our daughter first thing."

As he spoke, Qin Guanglin went back to the study, brought out a stack of test box kits, and neatly placed them in the bathroom so He Fang could reach them easily, in case she forgot.

After finishing the Nutrition Express in his hand, he wandered around, feeling like he was forgetting something. He returned to the balcony, saw He Fang washing clothes, and slapped his forehead, "You’re pregnant and you’re still doing this heavy work? Let me do it!"

He Fang looked at him expressionlessly. "The seed might not even be planted yet, what’s the rush?"

"Huh?"

Qin Guanglin paused for a moment, then proceeded to pull her away, "Never mind whether it’s planted or not, you are pregnant, go, off you go."

He sat down and vigorously scrubbed the clothes, then suddenly sighed, "I’m going to be a dad..."

He Fang stood by, touching her stomach silently for a while, then said, "Do you think, I’m really pregnant?"

"Definitely, I’m pretty awesome, how could I miss?" Qin Guanglin was full of confidence.

He had come over more than ten times in the past six days amidst extreme anger. If that didn’t work, then it was really time to check their health at the hospital.

"Being a dad should be very exciting, very thrilling, but with you pressing on like this... oh, not exactly pressing, but it feels more like completing a task, the excitement just isn’t there."

Qin Guanglin carefully considered his feelings about becoming a father, which, like when he got married, did not incite as much excitement as he had imagined.

Both were determined to get pregnant this month, and the hassle was pretty intense...

"That’s because you haven’t seen our daughter growing inside my belly yet."

He Fang said, "When you see my belly growing bigger each day, and our daughter getting closer to being born, you’ll feel that happiness of being a dad."

"I’m looking forward to it."

Qin Guanglin looked up and smiled at her, "I’m going to be a dad, and you are going to be a mom."

"Yes, we’re going to have a baby."

He Fang smiled and nodded, one hand on her stomach and the other on her waist, she turned and left the balcony in the posture of a pregnant woman.

Success or failure hung in the balance; they had done all they could. The rest was up to fate.

Do your best and leave the rest to heaven.

Qin Guanglin sobered up from his smile, watching her receding figure and silently sighed.

Having a daughter, it wasn’t that easy.

Both were almost in their thirties, without many unrealistic fantasies. They knew the reality well, only comforting each other.

As adults, you always find something to fool yourself.

Because life must go on.
