Sweet slice-of-life love story: Wife, Let's love again
Chapter 328 - 321: Life is as Lonely as Snow

Chapter 328: Chapter 321: Life is as Lonely as Snow

Days flowed by like water, and soon, the wedding day arrived.

He Fang had been going out on dates with Xiaoqing for the past month, leaving Qin Guanglin feeling like an abandoned wife. Angrily pulling at the locust flowers, he then let He Fang make locust flower cakes—topped with green onions and fine salt, giving a loud crunch with a big bite.

That made his mood better.

A few days before the wedding, he realized the two were secretly concocting something—Gu Xiaoqing was the bridesmaid.

Unexpected yet reasonable.

It was easier to find groomsmen and bridesmaids early on; any best friend or brother would do. But as one aged, peers available for these roles dwindled, making it hard to find a suitable fit.

Qin Guanglin also had a tough time choosing. Sun Wen wasn’t suitable, Gao Xin was both short and plump, and both Zhang Dongming and Xiao Yu were married. Eventually, he roped in Yu Le to be his groomsman.

Yu Le was initially confused, then excited. Being a groomsman at his idol’s wedding was thrilling—long before Sun Wen had departed, he had already been respecting Qin Guanglin as a mentor, striving to reach his level. But as Qin Guanglin’s comics successively emerged, even the motivation to catch up faded, and he simply considered him as an idol.

Excited to be a high-profile groomsman.

...

On the eve of the wedding.

Qin Guanglin and his buddies were sprawled on one of the hotel’s large beds, chatting leisurely.

The wedding wasn’t held at home following local customs like Xiao Yu’s, which had bustled throughout the day and overnight. Instead, all procedures were conducted at the hotel.

One reason was that Qin Guanglin’s relationship with He Fang was quite different. Xiao Yu lived alone, and the bride moved in post-wedding, so any uproar didn’t matter. Unlike Xiao Yu, Qin Guanglin had already been cohabiting for a long time, and their new home was already a shared space, unsuitable for a night of disturbance with a crowd of neighbors and friends.

Secondly, since He Fang wasn’t a local, they could only host it at the hotel. Her daddy, uncles, and their crowd all stayed in the hotel, so there was no need for them to rush over early in the morning for the bridal procession, eliminating the need for staying up late. And since her family was staying at the hotel, it felt off for him to have a noisy celebration at home.

After some brief discussions, Qin Guanglin and He Fang had set up the basic flow of the event, discarding meaningless rites to focus on the banquet.

They wanted a joyous occasion. How it proceeded didn’t really concern many. Whether it was squatting in a circle devouring instant noodles at Xiao Yu’s place at midnight or fiercely chomping on roast chicken ordered at the hotel, everyone was just as happy.

"Excited?"

Xiao Yu, rubbing his stomach, lay next to Qin Guanglin and casually asked, "In a few hours, you’ll be a man."

"It sounds like I’m not a man right now," Qin Guanglin sighed, pausing before continuing, "Feels a bit exciting, but not as thrilling as I’d imagined."

"That’s not right," Yu Fei scoffed from one side, eyeing him. "The night before I got married, I was so thrilled I couldn’t sleep. Your attitude seems risky..."

"Risky my ass."

Before Qin Guanglin could speak, Xiao Yu answered for him, "They’ve been an old couple long before this. Getting married is... well, you wouldn’t understand. It’s like a second marriage. Would you still be excited for your second marriage?"

"Screw you, how can you bring up a second marriage?" Qin Guanglin laughed, "This is my very first proper one... Still, kind of exciting. Been looking forward to this for so long, finally, it’s fulfilling. But... well, this kind of anticipation, once suddenly realized, brings a bit of... emptiness. You get the emptiness, right? Never mind, you wouldn’t understand."

Talking, he suddenly stood up, pacing the room boredly to the window, gazing at the sparkling neon lights outside, remarking, "Life is lonely as snow... That’s the feeling."

Xiao Yu, indifferent to his pretentious air, closed his eyes, turned over, and flopped onto the bed, saying, "Hmm, Prince Kidney Deficiency."

Yu Le chuckled goofily; not being married, he didn’t know the feeling. Yet, it was quite amazing. He had joined the fun at Xiao Yu’s wedding, and though Qin Guanglin’s was different, the atmosphere was still the same.

Yu Fei glanced at Qin Guanglin’s silhouette at the window and sneered, "Keep posing. I bet you’re too excited to sleep, pretending to be calm. You calm my ass."

"I told you, you wouldn’t understand."

"Then come sleep, let’s see if you can."

"Watch me."

Qin Guanglin lay back down on the bed and buried his head, "I’m sleeping, you guys should sleep early too, it’s all the way till tomorrow night."

"Sleep my ass, get up and party!"

Gao Xin shuffled the poker cards loudly at the side, "Come on, let’s play Exploding Diamonds, let me win a ’wife fund’ out."

"Explode nothing, let’s play Landlords."

"Screw Landlords, I’m not playing with this kid... we’ll play, Lin you go sleep!"

Qin Guanglin opened his eyes to take a look then closed them again, "Then I’m sleeping, take it easy, sleep when you’re tired."

The hotel room was brightly lit. Qin Guanglin was lying at the corner of the bed, with Xiao Yu using his head as a pillow against his waist, lying vertically on the other side, and Yu Le was also lying quietly by the side. Thankfully the bed was big enough; half of the bed was crammed with four or five people, leaving a corner for those energetic enough for Landlords.

A wedding is about eating well and having fun, and even though it wasn’t their own wedding, the atmosphere kept their spirits unusually high. Yu Fei occasionally turned back to shout at Qin Guanglin to check if he was asleep yet, which Qin Guanglin could no longer tolerate and eventually sat up.

"With you shouting all the time, I couldn’t sleep even if I wanted to."

"Hey, passing the buck? You clearly can’t sleep because you’re too excited. Stop pretending, come play Exploding Diamonds, these guys can’t play Landlords, it’s driving me nuts."

"You are the one who’s nuts! You are the one who’s nuts!" Gao Xin yelled.

"Come on, watch me wipe you all out."

Qin Guanglin rolled up nonexistent sleeves and joined them in the game.

To tell the truth, he really couldn’t sleep; even if Yu Fei hadn’t been shouting, it would have been hard to doze off. The wedding was tomorrow, and it would be difficult for anyone to sleep.

Part of him couldn’t wait for the hour hand to whoosh into tomorrow, while another part wanted time to slow down a bit, to relish the feeling of being unmarried a little longer.

Although, there wasn’t much of a difference between his being unmarried and married, but it was all about the mindset. As long as the wedding wasn’t over, he subconsciously still saw himself as an unmarried youth; it would only totally change after the wedding was finished.

...

In the other room.

He’s Daddy leaned against the bed head, remote control in hand, constantly changing channels, his gaze flickering as he watched the rapidly changing scenes on the television, seemingly lost in thought.

He Shan woke up from a nap and saw He’s Daddy still in the same position, struggling with the television, and couldn’t help but be speechless, "Dad, why aren’t you sleeping?"

"I’m watching TV, don’t want to sleep."

"You call this watching TV?" He Shan watched the ever-changing television screen, helplessly sarcastic, *"Fang is getting married tomorrow, and here you are, staying up all night. You’ll be dozing off at her wedding... ha ah~"* He yawned as he spoke, turning over and closing his eyes, *"Better sleep soon so we can see Fang off in high spirits tomorrow..."

"Sleep yourself!"

He’s Daddy, annoyed, raised his voice to cut him off, *"Stop nagging, even more annoying than Fang. Can’t you just sleep quietly?"*

...

He Shan curled his lip and stayed silent.

She was bound to get married sooner or later, and now that it was imminent, he should be happy, but he couldn’t figure out what the old man was thinking.

Luckily He Cheng was a son.

...

The night passed.

Dawn broke.

And just like that, the day of the wedding quietly arrived.
