Chapter 317 - 310: They Don’t Want You Anymore

Chapter 317: Chapter 310: They Don’t Want You Anymore

Qin Guanglin didn’t pay any further attention to the follow-up, as arguing with internet trolls is the biggest waste of time—unless he had too much time on his hands and was bored enough to indulge them a little.

With He Fang by his side now, even if he was just leaning on her to watch TV and collectively making fun of the variety show host, it was far more interesting than scrolling through crap... ew, Weibo.

Life is fleeting like a swift horse passing through a gap, so why bother getting angry with irrelevant people?

"Ah..."

He opened his mouth towards He Fang.

He Fang’s hand was exceptionally agile with the knife, cutting and spearing a piece of apple to his mouth in one swift motion.

Teacher He saw them from the side hall, and his face took on the expression of an unimpressed subway rider; even the peanuts and liquor in his hands lost their appeal. He put on the lids and went back to his room.

The night deepened.

On this trip to He City, Qin Guanglin had only spent the first night in a hotel without visiting and stayed with He Fang. After that, He’s Daddy had insisted he stay at the He Family home, engaging in long conversations about life and dreams and often staying up past midnight.

Seeing that it was getting late, he instinctively thought about resting in Teacher He’s room, but he saw that Teacher He’s room lights were already off.

"It seems they don’t want me to stay the night today," Qin Guanglin said, turning to He Fang.

He Fang turned off the TV with the remote control, stretched, and stood up, saying, "Then you should go back to the hotel. You’ve paid for several nights and only stayed for one, what a loss."

"I think..."

Qin Guanglin looked down at the light seeping from under Teacher He’s room door, leaned in close to He Fang, and whispered, "These past few days your dad and I have gotten along really well, and he has accepted the fact that we’re getting married..."

"So what?" He Fang glanced at him sideways.

"I’m not going back to the hotel."

"No way."

"Yes."

"No way."

"Yes."

...

In the end, He Fang couldn’t outstubborn Qin Guanglin, who shamelessly squeezed into her boudoir, spending their second sneakily shared night together.

They both had a sound sleep.

He Shan got up much earlier in summer than in winter, with the sky already bright around five, and he would wake up promptly at six to go jogging. With an old, faded towel wrapped around his neck, he would run until seven and then walk back home with breakfast in hand.

At half-past seven, Qin Guanglin was kicked out of bed by He Fang, got dressed, and left the house, just in time to run into the returning He Shan. They exchanged glances, feeling a slight, indescribable embarrassment, though it was much less intense than the last time.

Meeting He Shan like this twice after staying in He Fang’s room—jogging really isn’t such a good habit...

Qin Guanglin mused to himself, thanked He Shan, and took a breakfast back to He Fang’s room.

"Did my brother catch you again?" He Fang saw him return so soon, holding breakfast, and immediately understood.

"So he caught us, what does it matter? We’re engaged; can’t we sleep together?"

Qin Guanglin’s skin was getting thicker; once some things were overcome mentally, they became second nature.

Anyways, it wasn’t the first time being caught, so what was there to fear.

He Fang, not amused, took a big bite of her bun and spoke while chewing, "Hmph, you’ve wrecked my reputation."

"What reputation do you have?" Qin Guanglin looked surprised.

"..."

He Fang stared at him, speechless.

"Alright, alright, it was my fault—I wrecked it. I was the one who pushed you into it."

Qin Guanglin stopped teasing her, content with having gotten his way.

"Dad, time for breakfast!"

He Shan’s voice came from outside. Qin Guanglin tensed up. It was one thing for his brother-in-law to see, but he still felt a bit timid about his father-in-law. He hurriedly went out to sit in the living room to eat his breakfast.

Teacher He quickly came out, and He Shan went to knock on He Cheng’s door. After a few knocks with no response, he went straight in, pulled the little guy out of bed to wash up, and then took breakfast back to his room to feed Zhao Qing.

"..."

"..."

Qin Guanglin and He’s Daddy sat in silence, each eating their own buns. He’s Daddy glanced toward the direction of He Fang’s door a couple of times, then looked at Qin Guanglin, his thoughts unclear.

Seeing the old man’s demeanor, Qin Guanglin couldn’t tell if he had purposefully gone to bed without greeting him the night before or what was going on, so he could only eat his meal quietly and without comment.

"Staying here this long isn’t interfering with your work, is it?"

After a long while, He’s Daddy finally spoke up.

"Not at all, I’m on annual leave, a whole week. I’ve already arranged everything for work," Qin Guanglin replied eagerly.

He’s Daddy nodded, "As long as work isn’t affected it’s fine. Taking leave and spending all this time here with an old fogey like me; you two haven’t really gone out to have fun."

"Home is the most comfortable place; it’s quite nice."

"Hmm, if you think it’s good then stay a few more days. It’s too hot to go out in the summer anyway."

"Yeah, sure."

The two of them exchanged these inconsequential pleasantries. He Shan and his wife finished their breakfast, got ready, and left for work after saying goodbye. The house was once again left with the young and the old, Qin Guanglin and He Fang.

This was how the weekdays went by: casually killing time in the morning while preparing lunch, followed by a nap after eating, and then the afternoon would slip away. After waking up, they would either play chess or watch some TV, waiting for He Shan and the rest to return and start preparing dinner.

Day by day passed without much happening, yet time flew by quickly.

"Let’s go back tomorrow, so we don’t have to rush back on Sunday and then go to work on Monday."

After dinner, He Fang proposed to Qin Guanglin. He had no objections, but the matter of their marriage hadn’t been settled yet; he thought that the He family, father and son, should be giving him a checklist.

Zhao Qing was nearby, tutoring He Cheng with his homework, and He’s Daddy was enjoying the cool evening breeze on the balcony. It wasn’t a good time for Qin Guanglin to pull He Fang aside to ask, so he sent her a message on Weibo.

"Is that it for the marriage? No follow-up?"

He Fang felt her phone vibrate, took it out, and saw it was from Qin Guanglin. She glanced at him and typed back, "What follow-up?"

"Like a betrothal gift list and stuff."

"They probably haven’t discussed it yet. Anyway, the wedding is next year; what’s the rush?"

"Alright."

The two sat opposite each other on the sofa, stealthily chatting for a while before putting their phones away, feeling a peculiar sense of sneaky pleasure.

Quite amusing.

Qin Guanglin chuckled to himself, enjoying the TV show with He Fang until after nine o’clock. Zhao Qing hurried He Cheng off to bed, then she too retreated to her bedroom. He’s Daddy leisurely made his way around and then went to his room. The living room was left with only the two of them watching TV.

"You should go back now, right?" He Fang nudged him with her knee, legs crossed.

"Wait a moment..."

Qin Guanglin stroked his chin, looking towards He’s Daddy’s bedroom, "Why didn’t your dad call me again?"

"If he didn’t call, that means he doesn’t want to sleep with you anymore. What, are you addicted to sleeping with my dad?"

"... Go away. It just doesn’t feel right."

He pondered for a moment, then suddenly had a thought, "Your dad told me this morning to stay a few more days."

He Fang frowned, "And?"

"That’s him agreeing for me to stay in your room!" Qin Guanglin said excitedly, in a lowered voice. "I’m not going back!"

"... What kind of strange logic is that?"

"Absolutely! Look, your dad is a bit awkward; he won’t say things directly but likes to beat around the bush... I’m definitely not wrong, let’s go to sleep."

As he spoke, Qin Guanglin stood up. When he saw He Fang still looking up at him, he bent over, picked her up, and carried her into the bedroom.

"Put me down! Put me down!" He Fang was caught off guard, struggling and speaking softly to avoid waking anyone in the house, "The TV’s still on! And my slippers!"

"You lie down first; I’ll turn it off."

Qin Guanglin felt delighted, like a thief as he carried He Fang into the bedroom and placed her on the bed, then went back out to turn off the TV, picked up her pink slippers from the floor, turned off the living room lights, and returned.

"Teacher He, your parents don’t want you anymore."

"... Get lost."
