Chapter 265: Chapter 261: What’s so Interesting About the Sun?

"You hold the corner of the blanket for me while I change the washed bedsheet.

Hug me from behind, and I’ll turn my head to kiss you.

Celebrating the New Year together, waking up the next day to still see you when I open my eyes.

On a secluded beach, snuggling together under a blanket, waiting for the sunrise.

Preparing a feast together for both our parents.

Holding hands and strolling around after dinner.

Doing things in the living room, kitchen, bathroom..."

He Fang read from Qin Guanglin’s phone, shaking her head, then suddenly looked up and glared at him fiercely.

"...It’s someone else’s writing, don’t glower at me," Qin Guanglin shrugged innocently.

That was a "100 Things Couples Can Do Together" he had seen while browsing the web and thought it would be fun to show her.

He Fang continued reading, "Cuddling on the sofa watching TV series together.

Watching a super scary horror movie together.

Raising a big dog together, walking the dog on its leash... Do you like dogs?"

"Hmm..." Qin Guanglin blinked, "Do you like them?"

"No."

"Then I don’t like them either."

"Then we can’t do many things on this list, and there’s no need to."

He Fang tossed the phone aside, snuggled closer to Qin Guanglin with a pillow, stretched his arm straight under her neck, then wrapped the other arm around herself, adjusted her lying position comfortably, leaned on his chest, and closed her eyes, "Someday I’ll make a list for you, just follow that."

"Your list would definitely be all about washing dishes, mopping the floor, and cleaning the room... No way."

Qin Guanglin shook his head and refused, wrapping her in his arms, "Actually, we’ve already done most of the things on the list. We can eliminate the meaningless ones, and there won’t be many left—"

"And then what? You want to do things on the sofa, balcony, bathroom?"

"...Watch the sunrise."

The next day.

It was barely dawn, the sun hadn’t risen, and Qin Guanglin was vigorously pulling He Fang out of bed.

The autumn morning was still a bit chilly, requiring blankets if going outside, but luckily, where they lived faced east, so they could sit by the window at home waiting for the sunrise.

"Why do I feel it’s weird?" He Fang sat by the window wrapped in a blanket, feeling something was off.

"What’s weird?"

Qin Guanglin didn’t feel it and shivered when he opened the window to the breeze, then hurriedly shut it, looking at the sea through the glass.

He Fang frowned and thought for a moment, then pointed outside, "People watch the sunrise because they want to lean on each other, for that romantic feeling outside, like that time on Chou Mountain with us. What you’re doing now..." she tugged the corner of the blanket, "there’s no romance at all, what’s so good about just the sunrise?"

"Is that so?" Qin Guanglin scratched his head.

"The difference between sitting on the beach, snuggled under a blanket waiting for the sunrise, and huddling in the room wrapped in a blanket squatting by the window, you with your view and me with mine, is it the same?" He Fang stood up annoyedly and flopped back on the bed, "Don’t bother me, I want to continue sleeping."

"..."

Qin Guanglin looked around, feeling she made sense.

At Chou Mountain, they could at least paint, but now he didn’t even want to touch a pen. What was so good about the sun?

"We can still make it if we go now..."

"Forget it. A perfectly romantic thing turned into a chore because of you, hopeless straight man, come back to bed."

"Okay."

The two who hadn’t slept enough curled back into bed to snooze until nearly ten o’clock when the sun was high, finally waking up one after another.

After waking up, they didn’t get out of bed. Both had a homebody nature; after the initial excitement of the beach and seaside had passed, they reverted to their lazy ways at home, not getting up until they were hungry.

They dawdled in the hotel until the afternoon when the sun wasn’t so intense. The two decided it was a waste to stay in the room while on a trip and went to the beach to pick up shells.

He Fang, refreshed from her nap, was full of energy. She handed a basket bought from the store to Qin Guanglin to carry, running barefoot on the beach, occasionally tossing over a shell she found pretty.

Qin Guanglin shook the basket, listening to the clashing sounds of the shells inside, unable to comprehend the pleasure in it. The ones he collected were neither useful nor edible, purely a waste of time. It would be better to look for crabs; just a few would make a meal—as long as He Fang was happy, that was his only delight.

"Why are all the ones you pick so small?"

"Smaller ones are prettier... Why aren’t you picking any?"

"I enjoy watching you pick them."

"You... Ah!" He Fang shivered, looked down, then looked up at Qin Guanglin with tears nearly spilling from her eyes, "Save me..."

"What’s wrong?!"

Qin Guanglin’s expression changed dramatically, he dropped the basket and ran over to check on her, "What happened?!"

"It bit me, it hurts so much."

"What bit... don’t move." Qin Guanglin glanced down, and upon seeing a crab on her foot, he breathed a sigh of relief, "Don’t move, slowly put your foot down so it can touch the ground, otherwise it won’t let go..."

He squatted down and tentatively touched the crab, which elicited a cry of pain from He Fang. He panicked, rubbing his hands together, "Looks like I need to find a stick..."

Turning his head left and right, finding nothing, Qin Guanglin steeled his heart and teased it with his pinky.

"Don’t..."

Before He Fang could finish speaking, she saw Qin Guanglin jerk his hand back and grimace, rubbing it on his body before carefully examining her foot.

"It’s fine, just a red mark; the crab is quite small." Qin Guanglin rubbed her pinched toe and looked up at her with a smile.

A blush crept onto He Fang’s somewhat aggrieved face. She looked around, fiddling with the hem of her skirt without speaking, and Qin Guanglin had already stood up and walked towards where the crab had scuttled. Within a few steps, he found it and returned to He Fang with it in hand.

"Shall we eat it tonight?"

"Why did you bring it back!" He Fang, freshly pinched by it, stepped back reflexively.

"To get revenge for you."

Qin Guanglin turned around, picked up the basket with the shells and tossed the crab inside, "I wonder if the hotel will let us bring our own ingredients for them to cook... Oh right, I remember seeing that they can." He glanced down at the crab trying to climb out and shook the basket, "One is too few, let’s catch a few more for dinner tonight—I’ll mark this one, and you can definitely break it open yourself."

"... I feel it’s too dangerous here." He Fang hesitated, having just experienced the painful pinch, she really didn’t want to go through it again.

"It’s because your feet smell so good that even crabs want a taste." Qin Guanglin glanced mischievously at her feet buried in the sand and then at the basket.

Fortunately, she wasn’t bleeding; otherwise, tearing the crab apart wouldn’t have been enough to appease her anger.

He Fang spat at him, "Pervert."

"You said it was perfectly normal at first."

Qin Guanglin chuckled and pulled her along, "Come on, let’s see if there’s more around... So many people on the beach and only you got pinched; isn’t that lucky?"

"Lucky my ass; it hurt like hell. Are your fingers okay?"

"If you’re fine, how could my rough hands get hurt by it? If I tried to pinch it, it wouldn’t even make a dent."

The two continued collecting shells and hunting for crabs until the sky began to darken; they filled a basket with shells, yet the crabs were hard to find, hidden in the sand, and they found only two.

The hotel indeed offered to cook ingredients for guests, but with such a small catch—two medium-sized crabs—Qin Guanglin gave it some thought, ordered a few more from the hotel menu, and had their own two steamed as well, making up their dinner.

Sitting at an outdoor table, listening to the distant sound of the waves, He Fang dealt with the ill-fated crab marked for her. After the meal and some soup, and while watching the twinkling stars in the night sky, she said, "Let’s go back tomorrow."

"Hm? There are two more days, since we’re out, we should enjoy it to the fullest." Qin Guanglin spoke while nibbling on a crab leg.

They had taken a whole day drive on October 1st, and today was the 4th; the two had already spent three days on Green Island, and there would be no rush to take a ride back on the 7th.

"Trying it out is enough; next time we can go somewhere else—Did you forget about lying at the hotel for most of the day today? It’s better to go back and lie down."

"But we haven’t seen the sunrise yet."

"Sunrise smunrise... We’ll watch it tomorrow." He Fang smiled, helping him with a bowl of soup and handing it over, "After watching, it’ll be perfect timing to check out and catch the ride. Remember to buy the bus tickets later."

The main purpose of the trip was for the two of them to do things they’d never done before, and visit places they’d never been. Now that they had their fun, staying on didn’t have much point.

Qin Guanglin thought about it and realized it was true—they had already done most of the activities. Yet he stubbornly murmured, "You don’t have to save money for me..."

"Save money for who?"

"Oh, for yourself, you don’t have to save for yourself... Never mind, pass me a tissue."

Now, the only thing between them and marriage was a certificate and a ceremony, and they were essentially already like a married couple; saving a bit of money was a good idea.

Everything was ready, except for the east wind; in his heart, a house was the east wind for proposing and asking for a hand in marriage.

The east wind that would satisfy everyone.
