Chapter 230: Chapter 226: Need Consultation

"What’s going on?"

He Fang hadn’t been asleep yet. Seeing Qin Guanglin return, she lazily yawned from under the covers and asked.

Qin Guanglin thought it over carefully and didn’t really know how to explain it. He thought for a moment and said, "Sun Wen and his girlfriend’s boyfriend got into a fight... well, it’s complicated."

"Huh?" He Fang was stunned and seeing Qin Guanglin sitting on the bed taking off his shoes, she stretched out her foot and poked his back, "Tell me more about it, is there really such a bizarre thing?"

"Um... essentially, the two broke up. Sun Wen’s girlfriend found someone else, and then Sun Wen tried to get back together with her, and she agreed... so she ended up with two boyfriends, one in the open and one in secret."

Qin Guanglin shrugged, finding it quite amusing, "Then today the three of them met and the two boyfriends ended up fighting... It’s really something, I don’t know what that girl was thinking."

"Playing both sides, huh... and you made it sound so complicated."

Now that He Fang understood, she immediately lost interest and snuggled deeper into the blanket to make space.

"How do you think that girl feels? One isn’t enough, she’s juggling two at the same time..." Qin Guanglin found such people weird. Liking is liking, not liking is not liking, how can she like two people at the same time?

Kind of crazy.

"How would I know?" He Fang rolled her eyes, "She’s got issues, that’s all I can’t understand their mindset."

"Hey, I think so too, kind of crazy..."

"Oh, it’s so cold, keep away from me."

"Just warming up, warming up."

The two playfully scuffled for a moment, and Qin Guanglin got up to turn off the light, preparing to sleep—holding He Fang since they had delayed quite a bit, the movie would have to continue another day.

Outside it was bitterly cold, but inside it was warm as spring. The two of them said goodnight leaning on each other, neither speaking again, already weary He Fang soon fell into deep sleep, Qin Guanglin blinked as he watched her profile, quietly thought for a while, then slowly closed his eyes embracing her.

...

A week after Christmas, it was New Year’s Day.

Also known as the Solar Calendar.

Sun Wen had been busy in the living room until past eleven at night, scratching his messy hair, he shut down the computer and listlessly returned to the bedroom, plunging into bed.

After laying with his eyes closed for a while, the sound of fireworks started outside sporadically, he irritably covered his head with a pillow, but couldn’t block out the crackling noise from outside.

Staring out the window with wide eyes, Sun Wen paused for a moment, then suddenly got out of bed, crouched down and rummaged through a suitcase in the corner for a long time, and pulled out a black suit. Then he pulled out an embossed business card from the suit jacket pocket.

Quietly looking at the phone number on the card for a while, he turned back to the bed to pick up his phone and dialed it.

"Hello, who’s this?"

The call was answered before the third ring, Xu Wei’s voice coming through the phone.

"..."

Sun Wen paused for a moment, and the other side didn’t rush, quietly listening to the fireworks from his end.

"I need relationship advice."

"What time would you like to book? Just a moment let me check, I seem to be booked for the next few days..."

"Rose Bar, right now."

"..."

Xu Wei’s voice paused, and after a moment she lightly laughed, the professional tone gone, "Okay, wait for me half an hour."

"Alright."

Without further words, Sun Wen hung up the call, turned to smell himself, and finally decided to head to the bathroom and scrub himself clean. Ten minutes later, he went out in clean clothes and hailed a taxi.

Outside the bar.

A red Maserati came weaving through the night, smoothly stopping at the curb, Xu Wei stepped out of the car, spotting Sun Wen who had just arrived by taxi.

"It’s you," Xu Wei raised her eyebrows, hands tucked in her down jacket pockets, took the lead and walked into the bar.

"You didn’t know it was me?" Sun Wen quickly walked to catch up and entered the bar alongside her.

"Do you think I can recognize you by your voice?"

"Then you..."

Sun Wen opened his mouth, then suddenly shut it and didn’t continue the topic.

Indeed, the two had not exchanged contact information, there was only the business card she had given him.

He naturally would not be so vain as to think Xu Wei was always thinking of him, she came now simply because someone had made an appointment, and who that person was, she didn’t care.

Seeing him did bring her a bit more joy than seeing others.

Xu Wei was indeed delighted, even somewhat surprised. Several months had passed, and she had almost forgotten about this person. Yet here they were, called out on the eve of New Year’s Day.

Looking at Sun Wen’s stubbled face and his hair, which was styled yet still appeared messy, she guessed he had run into trouble.

"Did you break up?" Xu Wei settled onto the bar stool, snapped her fingers for two drinks, and turned slightly to look at Sun Wen, a faint smile in her eyes.

Sun Wen was taken aback by her direct question, sighed, lowered his head, and then nodded, "Yes."

He reached into his pocket for a cigarette, thought better of it, pinched his lips instead, and looked up at her to continue, "Did you already know we were going to break up?"

"Don’t talk nonsense; I’m no fortune teller to predict the future." Xu Wei flicked her fingernails, flipping her hand to examine her fingers in the light. Her next sentence, however, made Sun Wen’s chest tighten again.

"Did you get cheated on?"

"... I should have come to you sooner." Sun Wen’s gaze grew distant as he looked at her. "To be precise, I was the one who cheated."

"Ha..."

Xu Wei couldn’t help but laugh, interestedly staring at Sun Wen, "Sounds like you got the better end of the deal."

"You could say that. Come, let’s celebrate—I’m glad I was the one who cheated."

Clang!

Their glasses clinked gently. Xu Wei took a small sip of her drink while Sun Wen gulped down a large mouthful. The strong liquor rushed down his throat, the spicy flavor shooting directly into his stomach.

"What kind of drink is this?"

"I ordered it specially for you. Just drink it."

...

After a moment to catch his breath as the alcohol’s bite faded, Sun Wen finally set down his glass and began, "Actually, I just wanted someone to talk to..."

"Talking to me comes with a fee," Xu Wei interrupted.

"Fine, charge whatever you want."

...

Two hours later, they left together.

"New Year’s is here."

"The solar calendar isn’t really New Year’s."

"We count the years by the solar calendar."

...

"New year, new atmosphere. Let’s go, pay your consulting fee."

"I..."

"Are you thinking of backing out?" Xu Wei narrowed her eyes, tilting her head slightly as she looked at him.

Sun Wen watched her for a moment, then suddenly smiled, "How could I? I’d be glad to."

Spending New Year’s Day with such a woman, it seemed he was getting the better deal—albeit mutually, he supposed. Whether it was the advice she had given before or just keeping him company tonight, he ought to show his appreciation.

They leisurely walked to the curb, and Sun Wen suddenly turned, pointing at the car parked on the side of ’Rose Bar’, "Didn’t you drive here?"

"Just because I’m a woman driver, you think I’d drink and drive?"

"You’re going to leave it here?"

"I’ll have someone come take it back tomorrow." Xu Wei stuffed her hands into her pockets, swinging her body back and forth, looking around the roadside.

Even at two in the morning, Luo City had taxis, not many, but bars were usually good places to find them.

"Now I know you’re rich," Sun Wen remarked, eyeing the pronged emblem on the car.

Rich folks knew how to live.

Of course, not worrying about food or dress, seeking only the fresh and exciting.

Xu Wei turned her head and chuckled softly, shrugging her shoulders, jabbing him playfully, "If you behave, I might just take care of you."

"Thanks, but no thanks—though you can call on me when you need something."

A taxi with its light on approached from afar, stopped steadily beside them, and as the door opened and shut, it drove off down the street.
