Chapter 224: Chapter 220: Alarm

Dinner finished.

It was already past eight in the evening.

Sun Wen stood up swaying a bit, then steadied himself after a moment. It was mainly because he had gone overboard with the strong liquor earlier.

Qin Guanglin and Xiao Yu were both slightly tipsy. They watched Sun Wen get into a taxi before they started walking toward the bus stop.

"Did he drink half a bottle of liquor before I got here?"

"Yeah, more than half a bottle."

"Do you guys have any issues?"

"Nothing much," Qin Guanglin shook his head, not wanting to elaborate, "just some work stuff."

Talking behind someone’s back is not a good habit, and even with a slight buzz, he managed to control himself.

Everything that comes out of the mouth eventually reaches the ears of the person you least want to hear it.

"Good that it’s resolved." Xiao Yu nodded, didn’t ask further, and felt his pockets for a cigarette to hasten the bus’s arrival, but only found a lighter.

"If you can’t smoke, you can’t smoke—what’s so good about it?"

"Quit for a few days but didn’t succeed. This thing takes time..."

Xiao Yu looked around, no shops in sight; he sighed, was about to say something when his phone beeped with a notification. He checked it, and his face immediately changed.

"What’s up?" Qin Guanglin saw his expression and guessed, "Girlfriend checking up on you?"

"How could that be... what’s there to check." Xiao Yu nervously pocketed his phone, tugging at his collar and sniffing it, "Does it smell a lot like alcohol on me?"

"Tsk."

Qin Guanglin laughed, "Still say she’s not checking up? You reek of alcohol... and cigarettes, no hope, go to a pharmacy and buy some safflower oil first."

"Forget it, I’m not talking to you anymore, take your time waiting, I need to get a taxi home."

Xiao Yu, seeing the bus still hadn’t arrived, hurriedly walked a few steps to a taxi parked at the curbside, opened the door, and called back, "I’m off."

"Go, go."

Qin Guanglin waved his hand, also sniffing his collar, suddenly feeling uncertain.

The cut on his head had scabbed, no need for more bandages, it wasn’t serious, and with the stress of these days working overtime, he had indulged in a few extra drinks.

Hopefully, Teacher He wouldn’t be mad...

...

Uneasily returning home, he used his keys to open the door, the bedroom door was closed. Qin Guanglin thought for a moment, didn’t fetch his pajamas, went straight to the bathroom to take a shower, brushed his teeth, then staggered like a pendulum into the bedroom.

"Ah!"

He Fang got startled by the sudden entrance of the naked man, relaxed only after recognizing it was Qin Guanglin, then sternly glared at him while clutching her chest, "Aren’t you ashamed?! Running around with that thing dangling."

"Heh heh... scooch over, it’s already this cold and it’s not even November..."

Qin Guanglin swiftly slipped under the blanket, hugged He Fang’s warm body and snuggled up, sighing, "Home is still the best."

"You’ve been drinking."

He Fang put down her phone and looked at him.

"Just a bit... it’s nothing." Qin Guanglin closed his eyes, playing ostrich.

"Move over, you stink," He Fang grunted as she pushed him, expressing her displeasure.

"Really, just a little... look, I’m not even drunk."

"You still want to get drunk?"

"No... ah, I was wrong, I won’t drink next time, nobody should drink," Qin Guanglin thumped his chest and promised, "You supervise me; I won’t touch you for a day every time I drink."

"Hmph, there’s a package for you over there, you haven’t opened it yet."

He Fang turned away, not wanting to deal with him, "You drank today, don’t touch me today."

Qin Guanglin twisted his head and saw three delivery boxes on the desk. He instantly knew what they were and excitedly hopped out of bed, grabbing the three boxes onto the bed. He then took a key from the bedside table to slice them open and fiddled with them as if presenting treasures, "Starting from tomorrow... take a look, these are all for you."

"What is this?" He Fang frowned as she looked at the suspicious object in his hand, pink, oval-shaped, and with a small tail.

"Guess?"

Qin Guanglin popped open the back cover to insert the batteries, and shook the string in front of her.

"You’re so gross."

"How am I gross?" Qin Guanglin scratched his head in confusion, grabbed the string, and yanked it, "You see, just like this..."

Squeak!

A piercing alarm sound erupted in the small bedroom, making their scalps tingle. Qin Guanglin quickly fumbled to stuff the switch back in place and looked sheepishly at He Fang, who was covering her ears and frowning, "That was... just a test..."

"What is this?"

"An alarm... Basically, if you encounter the situation from the other night again, just pull this string..." Qin Guanglin gestured with his hands but didn’t dare to actually pull it this time, "It will keep squeaking like that, and you just run with it, sounding off as you flee... It’s a deterrent. It’ll scare off the timid ones right away, and if someone bold still chases you, then use this..."

He then pulled out a spray can from another delivery box, waving it at He Fang, "Pepper spray. If the alarm doesn’t work, spray this into their eyes. It greatly increases your safety... Wait for me a moment."

Qin Guanglin took the pepper spray and ran out, leaving He Fang sitting on the bed, bewilderedly watching his retreating figure, unsure of what he was up to.

"Achoo!"

After a while, Qin Guanglin came back sniffling, his eyes constantly squeezing, and nodded at He Fang, "It’s really effective. I just sprayed a bit in the restroom, not even directly at myself, and it’s super effective. If you spray this on a bad guy’s face, no one could endure it... Achoo! They would probably lose their ability to resist instantly."

"Are you stupid?" He Fang climbed to the edge of the bed and tenderly touched his cheek, "Go wash your face."

"I did, I’m fine." Qin Guanglin handed her the spray, then picked up the pink alarm, "If it’s when I’m not home and you run into a bad guy, just pull it open and throw it out the window; it will keep sounding off..."

"Okay, got it."

He Fang took the two items and looked them over, then handed them back to him, "Put them in my bag."

"Sure."

Qin Guanglin turned around and stuffed them into her bag, "Don’t you like the pink? Why did you say it was gross?"

"It’s nothing." He Fang nonchalantly grabbed another box and shook it, then laughed and asked, "Black one?"

"Eh? How did you know?" Qin Guanglin was surprised.

"Humph, as if I don’t know you." He Fang bit her lip, glanced at him, then looked at the delivery box, "What’s in the other box?"

"Um..."

Qin Guanglin grabbed the box, hesitated for a moment, then pulled out a pair of black-framed glasses, "It’s glasses."

"Why did you buy glasses?" He Fang eyed him sideways.

"I wanted to see you wear them..." Qin Guanglin turned his head away to avoid her gaze.

That made things seem even more perverted.

He Fang watched his expression and smirked for a moment, then gathered her hair scattered at the back, took the glasses to inspect closely, and then teasingly put them on, pushing them up on her nose with her index finger, "Does this make me look more like a teacher?"

With his heart pounding, Qin Guanglin felt the alcohol rushing to his head, his gaze unconsciously falling on another delivery box.

"You just drank." He Fang took off the glasses.

"..." Qin Guanglin felt a tightness in his chest and cursed Sun Wen silently.

What a day to drink.

"But..."

He Fang dragged out her voice, her eyes twinkling as she looked at him, "I love you."

Initially, she wanted to teach him a lesson; drinking meant no touching, but seeing Qin Guanglin’s foolish blinking eyes from the pepper spray, she suddenly changed her mind.

"Hmm?"

"Go wash your face again, and when your eyes stop blinking, come back here."

"Okay!"
