Chapter 185: Chapter 182: Settled

Having a boyfriend who can draw, and draw really well, is truly a blissful thing—while everyone else is trying to capture the moment from all sorts of angles with photos, he simply sketches it.

Sketches it!

As more details appeared on the canvas, He Fang’s eyes couldn’t stop darting back and forth between the paper and Qin Guanglin’s face. Even though it wasn’t the first time, each time she watched him bring the two of them to life on paper, her heart raced uncontrollably, and she wanted to hug him tightly and give him a fierce kiss.

Luckily he was clueless with romance, or else with this skill alone he would have ruined so many girls.

"It’s done, but it’s just the draft. I’ll need to color it when we get back," Qin Guanglin pulled the drawing out of its folder and handed it to He Fang. Seeing her happy expression, he couldn’t help but smile foolishly, "Take a look, but be careful to put it back without wrinkling it."

"You still need to color it? I think it looks great as it is." He Fang held the drawing, looking at it from every angle, loving what she saw.

"It’ll look even better once colored."

"All right, you keep it safe. Put it inside your bag where it won’t get squished... wait, let me take a picture first."

"Still thinking about drawing while we’re out having fun?"

As He Fang was taking a picture, Sun Wen came over leading Yueyue and glanced at the drawing in her hand. After a stunned moment, he quietly gave Qin Guanglin a thumbs up.

Impressive. No wonder he managed to snag a student girlfriend.

"I want one too." Yueyue also saw the drawing in He Fang’s hands, her eyes lighting up as she tugged at Sun Wen’s hand.

"..."

Sun Wen blinked and said nothing, knowing that he couldn’t compete with Qin Guanglin. His drawings would be an embarrassment and certainly not satisfy his girlfriend.

Really, what a nuisance to come over like this.

"I didn’t bring a pencil..."

"Here, I’m done with it. You can borrow mine," Qin Guanglin said, handing over his folder and pencil.

"..." Sun Wen gave him a forlorn look, "Cough... this thing isn’t as clear as a photo anyway, drawing it is pointless..."

"Not at all," He Fang finished taking the photo and spread out the drawing, "Photos can’t capture the view from up there; only a drawing can reach that angle."

"Do you want it or not? If not, I’m putting it back in my bag," Qin Guanglin said holding the folder impatiently.

Sun Wen looked at Yueyue, then at the couple, and reluctantly took the folder. Qin Guanglin stood up, making space, and pulled He Fang away to wander around, while he and Yueyue sat down under a tree, repeating what Qin Guanglin and He Fang had just done.

"His drawing definitely won’t be as good as yours," He Fang said, turning her head to glance back and whispering into Qin Guanglin’s ear with a grin.

"Need you even ask?"

"You’re the legendary ’boyfriend from someone else’s family,’" She clung to Qin Guanglin’s arm, shaking it back and forth, turning her head to look around, then pointed at a spot in the distance, "Let’s go for a walk over there."

"Over there? It’s all trees... Oh, okay."

Qin Guanglin glanced at He Fang, suddenly remembering she had something she still wanted to do. He followed the direction she pointed and walked leisurely across the grass to the trees, casually looking around. With a quick movement, he hid behind a large tree and closed his eyes, motionless.

If they had agreed it would be a forceful moment, then he couldn’t make the first move.

Yu Le watched the two embracing each other with a look of despair. He Fang clung to Qin Guanglin like a koala, and while he tried to sneak away quietly, crouching, he unexpectedly tumbled to the ground.

"Who’s there?!"

Startled by the noise, Qin Guanglin instantly turned around, and He Fang also looked back.

"Um... I didn’t see anything, just passing by, passing by." Yu Le felt like he was the one caught doing something wrong, even though it was them who had suddenly barged in...

"What are you doing here?!" Qin Guanglin was somewhat embarrassed, put down He Fang ready to leave, yet felt a bit unsatisfied, looking at Yu Le with a grudge.

"Playing Landlord..."

"How come you’re playing Landlord without sound?"

"Saving battery..."

"..."

"..."

"I’m taking off. Carry on," Yu Le didn’t want to stay another second, sprinting out.

Originally, it was Sun Wen intentionally bringing his girlfriend over to flaunt their love before his eyes, strolling by him every now and then, which made him come here to play some Landlord for a hideout. The signal here was super strong, he was enjoying the game, but who knew another even more excessive couple would pop up...

Singledom didn’t bother anyone, pah.

Watching Yu Le’s figure walk away, Qin Guanglin was just about to find another spot when He Fang lightly jumped up and climbed onto his neck again, resuming her koala pose, "Keep going."

"..."

...

After coming out, nobody noticed them except that Yu Le gave them a wistful glance, his face still tinged with the grudge of a singleton. Everyone else gathered in several groups, with the largest group consisting of about a dozen people playing the game "Who’s the Undercover," hosted by Chen Rui. Qin Guanglin and He Fang watched from the side for a bit then also joined in the fun.

As dusk approached, the sun turned a shade of orange-red, hanging in the sky, its rays now gentle and warm, no longer fierce. That’s when everyone got to work, setting up tents and positioning the barbecue grill not too far from the stream. Chen Rui walked around the main camp sprinkling some powder, obviously for insect repellent.

Inside the tent.

Qin Guanglin, with his buttocks poked out, finished laying out the mat and then pulled out a bottle of spray from his backpack, pfff pfff pfff, spraying it in every corner against mosquitoes. Once everything was set, he lay down on the mat and sighed with relief. He turned his head and grinned at He Fang, who had come in.

"We’ll sleep here tonight."

The tent’s small space felt completely different from being at home. Once you zipped up the tent flap, it became a small world unto itself, just him and He Fang, a real world for two.

"Get out, hiding in here during broad daylight, what does that look like?"

While Qin Guanglin got up to zip the tent, He Fang gave a push on his butt and shoved him out. Standing up, he looked inside to see that she didn’t plan to come out after pushing him out. He shrugged and didn’t crawl back in, turning his head to see if anyone else needed a hand.

Speaking of broad daylight, the sun was already halfway down and soon to set completely. The evening glow was like a stretch of fire, promising good weather the following day. Chen Rui, who had finished spreading the powder, had already set up the barbecue grill and put on a khaki apron, expertly arranging the food to be grilled.

"You know how to do this too?" Qin Guanglin washed his hands, came over to help him skewer things like corn and chicken wings that hadn’t been done yet, while the other meat skewers were ready-made and didn’t need as much effort; he simply took them out of the bag and placed them on the grill to cook.

"Professional."

Chen Rui smiled and raised his head, seeing him helping, he put down his own skewers and picked up a bamboo fan to fan the charcoal flames vigorously – his movements looked indeed experienced, "Break the corn into three sections before skewering. Otherwise, it’s hard to grill as a whole and awkward to eat."

"Before you started painting, were you running a barbecue stall or something?"

"Just a hobby. Aside from painting, I like fiddling with these things." Chen Rui spoke pointing towards Luo City, "I even have a chef’s certificate at home. Not to brag, but of the dishes you can eat out there, I can make eighty percent of them."

"Impressive."

Qin Guanglin looked envious, speeding up his hands, "Teach me later. I’ll assist you."

After all, learning this skill could do no harm and bear no fraud; the more skills, the better. One day they would come in handy.

What’s that saying again? To secure a man’s heart, you must first secure his stomach.

He already had Teacher He’s heart, now he needed to find a way to win over his father-in-law’s stomach.

Deal.
