Chapter 178: Chapter 175: The Aroma of Food

Returning home and opening the door, Qin’s Mom was busy in the kitchen, and Qin Guanglin hurried over, wanting to take over.

His cooking skills weren’t perfected yet; he still needed to keep practicing.

When Qin’s Mom saw him enter, she appeared surprised before asking, "Why are you back?"

"Why shouldn’t I be back?" Qin Guanglin sniffed around, looking left and right, "I came back after work... oh wow, are you stewing chicken today? That smells amazing..."

"No, it’s not that, aren’t you eating over at He Fang’s?" Qin’s Mom swatted away his hand that was trying to lift the pot lid and pushed him out, "You didn’t even give a heads-up. I didn’t cook your meal today; go on, get going."

"..."

Qin Guanglin was stunned, "You didn’t cook for me?"

"You didn’t say to cook for you. Did He Fang eat? You better ask quickly; if she hasn’t eaten, tell her to cook more." Qin’s Mom took her spatula back into the kitchen, "I only made one dish and one soup, not enough for just you, so don’t come in."

She had thought that finally, she had managed to send this guy away yesterday and could have some rest, but unexpectedly, he returned today.

"..."

"Next time you want to eat, tell me in advance. I don’t know whether you’ll come back or not... Or you might as well just move in with her, rather than coming back every day to bother me."

"I just stayed over for one day..."

"One day? You’ve only come back to eat once this whole week." Having seen him still standing at the doorway not moving, Qin’s Mom urged, "Hurry and ask He Fang, or there won’t be anything left for you to eat."

"It’s just, when I’m not around is when you actually stew chicken, huh..." Qin Guanglin was somewhat speechless, "Is that necessary?"

"A single chicken wouldn’t even be enough for one of your meals, who can afford to feed you chicken every day?"

She made a face to show her disdain, "When I’m alone, I eat whatever I want. You should come back less often, let me enjoy some peace."

"I’ll help you taste for saltiness..."

"Go, go!" Qin’s Mom threatened to smack his hand with a pair of chopsticks, "I’ve been simmering it all afternoon, you could drink it all up in one gulp, now scoot, don’t cause trouble."

"..."

Qin Guanglin walked out to the living room with a disheartened expression, "I want to drink the chicken soup that’s been simmering all afternoon too."

"You’ll drink squat. If He Fang hasn’t made your meal over there, then you just wait and order takeout."

...

"How did you come over so quickly?" He Fang, hearing the door, poked her head out from the kitchen and asked.

"My Mom made a pot of really fragrant chicken soup just for herself, and there wasn’t any for me." Qin Guanglin, while talking, walked in, "What delicious thing are you making? Cook some extra rice."

"Lucky for you, I just started washing the rice, otherwise there wouldn’t have been any for you here either."

He Fang bent over to add another bowl of rice into the washing basin, then looked up, somewhat puzzled, "Is your mom mad at you for not coming home every day?"

"How could that be, she can’t wait for me not to go back."

Qin Guanglin saw it clearly; when he first entered the house, Qin’s Mom was humming a tune in the kitchen, but her smile froze the instant she saw him.

"I’ve been eating the dishes I cooked for nearly a month; I’ve grown tired of them. Now she’s treating herself to some good food."

"Haha, makes sense." He Fang couldn’t help but laugh, "The scrambled eggs with tomatoes you made last time were so salty, I didn’t want you to cook anymore."

"Just need more practice; give me the apron, and I’ll keep going."

Qin Guanglin reached out to untie her apron, ready to show off his culinary talents.

Anyway, it was much better than when I first cooked it. Although it couldn’t be considered very delicious, it wasn’t bad either.

"Don’t, you’ve been working all day, just take a rest. I can handle it myself." He Fang stopped Qin Guanglin’s movements, turned around and pecked him on the cheek, then pushed him out of the kitchen, "Just sit down and wait to eat."

Although she liked seeing him dote on her, she was happier cooking for him.

Having such a person by your side made giving feel happier than receiving.

"You definitely think my cooking is awful. I won’t cook again." Qin Guanglin hummed and sat back down on the sofa. Looking around and finding nothing to do, he simply took out his phone to play ’Fight the Landlord’.

The dinner for two wasn’t as lavish as what Qin’s Mom would eat, just three simple vegetarian dishes that were quickly stir-fried and served. He Fang turned around to check, but the rice wasn’t ready yet.

"It’s all your fault for messing around, I didn’t watch the time. If I’d known, I would have stir-fried them later." She muttered to herself while washing the utensils.

If the dishes were stir-fried too early and sat until the rice was ready, they’d cool down and wouldn’t taste as good as when they were freshly cooked.

"How did I mess around? I was winning beans for you."

Qin Guanglin felt quite innocent. He’d been sitting there playing ’Fight the Landlord’ without making a noise, how could he be a disturbance.

"How many did you win?"

"More than twenty thousand, impressive, right?"

"Just in that short time? You won more than twenty thousand?" He Fang, incredulous, quickly wiped her hands on her apron and squeezed over, "Let me see... wow, how did you win?"

"Simple, I’ll teach you." Qin Guanglin wrapped an arm around He Fang, pulling her onto his lap, and leaned his head against her shoulder. He held the phone in front of her to show her the game, "I can let him have this hand, not afraid he’d beat me with seventeen cards, and here’s a bomb... Huh?"

"You just lost me ten thousand beans." He Fang felt terribly distressed to see that Qin Guanglin had lost half of the twenty thousand beans he had won, which was worse than if she had been playing.

"A miscalculation... but I won you ten thousand, didn’t I?"

"You had won twenty thousand just now, and now it’s down to ten, which means you’ve lost ten thousand for me."

"I’ll win it back."

"Stop playing. Save it for me. What if you lose it all? Stop now." He Fang scrambled to prevent him from continuing.

"You need more capital to win more... Hurry up with the food, I’m so hungry."

Qin Guanglin’s attempt to play cool failed after losing over ten thousand beans, and he felt a bit embarrassed, trying to change the subject.

"The rice isn’t ready yet, the dishes are already cooked, just wait a bit longer." He Fang glanced at the rice cooker in the kitchen and then reached out to snatch his phone, "Let me play for a while."

"You playing for a while is when it’ll really get lost... Alright, cooking is so tough, I’ll let you lose for a while." He handed the phone over to He Fang, planning to see how she could lose so quickly.

"Pff, crow’s mouth."

He Fang wiggled in his lap and hit the start button, "Watch as I win back what you lost."

Naturally, winning was out of the question. After a winning streak comes a losing streak, and Qin Guanglin had already used up all his lucky hands. It just so happened that she ran into a losing streak; it wasn’t that she had terrible luck, it was just that the opponents were as strong as anything.

Qin Guanglin lost interest in watching after just a short while. While she was concentrated on battling the landlord, he sneakily took the opportunity to cop a feel.

The mix of her fragrance and the kitchen smells didn’t seem bad, but rather had an indescribable feeling. He closed his eyes and savored the sensation until He Fang lost all the beans and put down the phone, then he stopped his wandering hands.

"It’s all your fault for distracting me, that’s why I lost so quickly." She smacked Qin Guanglin’s hands hatefully, "Let go, I’m going to check if the rice is done."

"Go ahead, go ahead."

Qin Guanglin let her stand up, his face brimming with satisfaction as he twiddled his fingers.

Having the upper hand sure was nice; a girlfriend was much more fun than a game.
