Chapter 157: Chapter 155: Where To Go

Long before they arrived, they had heard that the bride’s family ran no small business, and it was not until they started eating at the wedding banquet that they truly experienced what it meant for a business to be no small affair.

The spicy lobster and suckling pig with hasma were already impressive, but bird’s nest soup was served one plate per person.

"You should cozy up to a rich widow someday so we can have another meal like this," Qin Guanglin commented while eating, full of admiration for Sun Wen.

"Go on, let Xiao Yu do that."

"Xiao Yu wouldn’t cut it, he’s too... skinny. Someone like you would be able to handle it."

"Don’t even, I can’t handle it either. I heard rich widows like to play ’happy ball’..." Sun Wen grimaced as he spoke.

"What’s ’happy ball’?" Qin Guanglin was curious.

"Tsk, it’s like taking a steel wool pad..."

Sun Wen gestured with his hands, "Like this, like that, I heard it’s super fun..."

"Alright, stop it."

Qin Guanglin felt a chill in a certain area and hurriedly took a few bites of his food to compose himself.

He couldn’t fathom why people these days were so weird with their endless variety of peculiarities—fidelity, ’happy ball’, golf, group activities, and doing tongue twists like screwing in a bolt...

Ugh—

Such hard-to-watch spectacles.

"Which part of a girl’s body do you think is the softest?" Xiao Yu asked while gnawing on a chicken leg.

"It should be the hand, I guess, all soft and boneless," Gao Xin opined.

"I’ve heard that lips are softer than hands," remarked Zhang Dongming, stroking his chin thoughtfully.

"Pssh, from what I’ve seen in adult films, it’s obviously—..." Shen Xu, sitting in the corner, started to speak but then shut up mid-sentence.

...

...

...

The air suddenly quieted down.

Qin Guanglin looked down and focused on his food, Sun Wen took a drink, Wang Jincheng turned his body to look elsewhere, and Lin Hao propped his chin on his hand, fingers discreetly covering his mouth.

After a moment,

"Ha ha ha ha, eat up, eat up."

"What are you spacing out for? The food will get cold soon."

"Yeah, this is tasty."

The topic was forcefully shifted to the food as if nothing had happened.

The atmosphere warmed again and Xiao Yu, laughing lightheartedly, picked up a slice of roast duck and suddenly turned to Qin Guanglin, "Lin, how are things going with your girlfriend?"

"Pretty good, pretty good."

"And you, Wang Jincheng?"

"Also good," Wang Jincheng said, his gaze drifting.

"And you, Lin Hao?"

"Sigh, we’re about to break up." Seeing the dubious looks from the others, Lin Hao quickly waved his hand, "Constant arguing, let’s not talk about it."

"Oh—"

Gao Xin, Zhang Dongming, and Xiao Yu exchanged glances.

"Don’t start anything," Qin Guanglin felt a sense of foreboding and remained on guard.

"Start what? What are you talking about..." Zhang Dongming quickly picked up his glass, "Here, Lin, let’s have one, just the two of us."

...

"Come on, Jincheng," Xiao Yu urged with a cup in his hand, raising his eyebrows suggestively.

...

...

When the groom came around to toast, the table was lively with clinking glasses and enthusiastic chatter.

"Are you breeding fish here?! Finish your drink!"

"Hurry up, you’re dawdling like an old lady!"

"Don’t rush me, let me eat something to pace myself..."

"You owe me a drink, hurry up, I’ll fill it up for you."

Xiao Yu rolled up his sleeves, monitoring Lin Hao closely to ensure he wasn’t sneaking around, while Zhang Dongming, his hand trembling slightly from pouring so much, refused to stop, "Come on, let’s have another."

"Go find the groom, stop hovering around me," Qin Guanglin glanced at Yu Fei and quickly diverted attention away from himself, "Go now, he might leave soon."

Although he kept declining, they insisted on rounds of persuasion. Zhang Dongming even offered to alternate two of his drinks for one of Qin Guanglin’s, but he couldn’t push them away, and now, feeling woozy and his face getting red, Qin Guanglin realized the spite of single men was terrifying indeed.

"Don’t just drink, eat more," Yu Fei had already made his rounds among the elders and now, his face flush with joy, he seemed even happier seeing their spirit as he approached with the bride, grinning, "Thanks, guys, for your support. Qi, join us, I’ll drink first."

After clinking glasses with everyone, he tilted his head back and downed the alcohol, turning the glass upside down to indicate it was empty, "Done."

At other tables, a mere sip would do, but here, not downing a drink wouldn’t cut it with a group of good brothers who had lived together for four years; it was a delightful sight.

"Done, done."

Everyone put down their glasses and Sun Wen quickly filled them again, "Here, let’s have a private drink, just you and me, groom."

"No, I still have many tables to visit," Yu Fei saw through their scheming immediately, "I’ll take a sip though."

"That’s no fun," Zhang Dongming expressed his discontent, "I’ll have two for your one."

"That’s not happening either," Yu Fei laughed, lifting up the hand of his bride, "My wife is right here, I can’t drink too much."

...

...

"Go, go on with your duties," Xiao Yu waved him off, "Don’t get held up here, tonight I’m determined to have guys crawling out."

"Who’s crawling?" a tipsy Wang Jincheng defiantly said, "I’d like to see who ends up crawling."

"Alright, enjoy your food and drink," Yu Fei nodded with a smile, "If you drink too much, I’ll arrange rooms or have someone take you back, no worries, drink up." He looked around, "Once I’m done, I’ll come back and join you for a few more if I can."

Yu Fei knew they could handle their alcohol—either they quietly slept after drinking too much, or became chatty—we never had the troublesome sort.

"Hurry up and get to it, if anyone drinks too much I’ll stuff them in a cab and send them back," Sun Wen poured two more glasses and placed them in front of Qin Guanglin, "How about I drink two for your one?"

...

Qin Guanglin, left speechless, closed his eyes and steadied himself, "You drink three, I drink one."

"Why do you want to drink so much that you can’t even stand up?"

"I’ll take five cups, you take two," Sun Wen haggled.

"No, you three cups, me one."

"I’ll take five cups, you take two."

"Forget it then..."

"Don’t! Alright, okay," Sun Wen conceded. "I’ll drink three, you drink one." He glanced at Zhang Dongming. "Are the two cups I owe Ming still exchangeable for one?"

"Umm..." Qin Guanglin hesitated for a moment, noticed that Zhang Dongming’s gaze was starting to go straight, and suddenly laughed. "Counts, definitely counts."

While speaking, he had already picked up his cup. "Ming, keep an eye out..."

Swoosh~

Drank it all clean.

"You owe me two cups, drink up." Qin Guanglin laughed, turned his wine glass upside down to show him. "Keep up."

Alcohol can reveal true nature.

After feeling a bit drunk, the previous intention to drink less was already flung to the back of Qin Guanglin’s mind. Changing from his usual calm demeanor, now he just wanted to make this guy pass out.

"Or... let’s switch to beer." Zhang Dongming felt overwhelmed after downing one cup and made a suggestion.

"No switching." Qin Guanglin continued to smile and fill his cup. "Come on, one more to go."

Sun Wen delighted in the misfortune next to them, showing no intention to help, feeling not at all that he belonged with Zhang Dongming.

So much for the "Single’s Alliance"; it didn’t exist.

He merely wanted to see everyone at the table knocked out.

...

When it was nearly time to wrap up, there was no one left who could speak coherently at the table. Zhang Dongming was lying on the table, talking to his chopsticks as if he were communicating with them.

Qin Guanglin leaned back in his chair, staring blankly at the wedding stage in the middle of the hall.

Gao Xin had disappeared somewhere and hadn’t shown up for a long time; Wang Jincheng and Lin Hao had already collapsed on the table and were asleep.

Xiao Yu and Sun Wen each wanted the other to pass out, neither willing to fall themselves, pushing the half bottle of wine back and forth.

"Let’s go, it’s over." Qin Guanglin checked the time, stood up, picked up his coat from the chair back, and suddenly stumbled, quickly catching himself on the table.

"You’re drunk, aren’t you?" Xiao Yu laughed as he watched, but after trying to stand twice without success, he leaned woozily back against the chair.

"Weaklings."

Sun Wen scoffed disdainfully, resisted the dizziness to stand firm, pointed at them and sneered, "Don’t let anyone help you. Let’s see who can’t walk out... Eh, fuck, what is this?"

After two steps, he tripped and fell, sitting on the ground and turning his head to look. Gao Xin, the dead fatty, had somehow slid down from the chair and was now soundly asleep on the floor.

"Fuck... wake up, wake up." Sun Wen grabbed Gao Xin and shook him, "Time to go home."

"Go... go where?"

"Home, where else?" Qin Guanglin came over to help Sun Wen with Gao Xin, tried to lift him, and the three of them ended up sitting on the ground together.

"..."

"..."

"Call someone, call someone." Sun Wen sat on the ground without wanting to get up and called out to Xiao Yu.

Fortunately, the organizers had anticipated this and quickly had several people help the drunk ones to guest rooms upstairs, where they could leave on their own once sober.

"Hey, don’t help me."

"Steady this road for me. Don’t let it move."

"Jeez, walk properly."

Xiao Yu, Sun Wen, and Qin Guanglin staggered out of the hotel’s door, the three of them being the only ones from the table who managed to walk out by themselves.

"Hey, the three of us came together, and it’s still just us three leaving," Xiao Yu laughed heartily with hands on hips, turning to Sun Wen. "Can you make it?"

"Of course I can." Sun Wen pointed to Qin Guanglin clinging onto him, "He seems to be done for."

"Who says I can’t?" Qin Guanglin muttered, releasing him. "Look... why are you swaying?"

Hit by the wind, the alcohol surged to his head, everything he saw was wobbling, and he had to grab onto Sun Wen again.

"It’s you who’s swaying." Sun Wen shook his head, also a bit unsteady, looking at Xiao Yu. "Am I taking him home or are you?"

"It’s unnecessary... don’t need to, I can go by myself."

Qin Guanglin wobbled towards a taxi. "I’ll just take a cab... and then I’m home."

"Maybe you should stay at the hotel..." Sun Wen was cut off mid-sentence when he saw Yu Le coming out and hurriedly waved to him. "Yu Le!"

"Hey, Brother Wen." Yu Le approached with his bag on his back, already wrinkling his nose at the strong smell of liquor before he was close. "Brother Wen, how much did you guys drink?"

"Heh, definitely not a small amount... Are you busy now?" Sun Wen leaned on him and asked.

"Nope, was just about to head home." Yu Le glanced at the three of them. "Need me to call you a taxi?"

"That guy... *hiccup*... drank too much, if it’s not a hassle, can you take him home?" Sun Wen pointed at the tottering Qin Guanglin. "It’s getting dark; I’m afraid he might end up sleeping in a roadside flower bed without anyone noticing."

"No problem." Yu Le readily agreed. Not only did he not mind taking Qin Guanglin home, but even if Qin Guanglin needed to spend the night at his place, it wouldn’t be a problem. "And what about you, Brother Wen?"

Sun Wen was also staggering, barely able to stand still.

"I’m fine." Sun Wen waved his hand away. "Xiao Yu, let’s go."

Xiao Yu shook his head at him, clucking his tongue. "I think you better find someone to take you home."

Now the most sober one was Xiao Yu. Because Sun Wen had taken triple cups each time, he and Qin Guanglin had both ended up in a lose-lose situation.

"Don’t talk nonsense, do I look like I need someone to take me home?"

"Then don’t lean on me."

Qin Guanglin had already swayed up to the taxi, Yu Le quickly ran over to open the door for him, then felt a slap on his back.

"What the hell? What’s up with the boss?" Jiang Lingling appeared from the side. "Wow, that’s a strong smell of alcohol."

Although she had seen Qin Guanglin and the others drinking continuously, she had not expected them to drink so much.

"Brother Lin drank too much; I’m taking him home." Yu Le responded, helping Qin Guanglin into the back seat. "Brother Lin, where’s your home?"

Jiang Lingling thought for a moment. "Need a hand?"

"Brother Wen’s drunk too. I think it’s best to send them both home. You can go ask over there."

"That’s perfect. You go to Brother Wen, and I’ll take the boss home." Jiang Lingling chuckled as she squeezed into the car. "Hurry up, then."

"Alright." Yu Le glanced at her, then turned and ran towards where Sun Wen was.

"Boss, wake up. Where do we need to go?"

"South Fly Road, 3... 315 number."
