Chapter 152 - 150: Who Cares
Chapter 152: Chapter 150: Who Cares
The trend of cohabiting before marriage was rampant, and when Qin Guanglin was in university, he even had classmates who became pregnant and had abortions. Still, he remained very traditional and never considered sleeping together before marriage.
He had always been indifferent, rather than supportive, toward the idea of "jumping on the train before buying a ticket" before he started dating anyone.
Qin Guanglin didn’t worry about what others did; he definitely wanted to wait until marriage.
But now, he was wavering.
Two adults, spending every day together.
In the mornings, he naturally entered and left her room while she was still asleep; at night, he waited for her to fall asleep before turning off her lights and locking her door.
On weekends, the two of them would cuddle in bed together all day long.
They had even slept together several nights before...
He would marry He Fang sooner or later, and he was utterly certain about that; he could even have gotten married there and then.
Since marriage was inevitable sooner or later...
"Can’t we really...?" Qin Guanglin hugged He Fang, feeling a stirring desire.
He wanted to be closer to her.
He Fang looked up at him, her heartbeat unconsciously quickened, and the words she was about to say got stuck in her mouth without making any sound.
After a moment of silence, seeing Qin Guanglin’s head descend for a kiss, she pushed against his forehead, "Do you really want it that much?"
"Is it okay?" Qin Guanglin looked into her eyes, eye to eye.
"..."
He Fang pursed her lips, suddenly sat up, "I can help you..."
"No, forget it." He stopped He Fang’s movements with his hand, pulled her back into his embrace, and sighed, "I just want to be closer to you."
If she didn’t want to, then it wasn’t going to happen.
"You..."
He Fang hesitated, looked at him struggling for a moment, exhaled, and lay quietly in his arms without speaking further.
There is no method that is one hundred percent safe.
"Let’s watch a movie." Qin Guanglin kissed her forehead, "When we get married, you won’t be able to escape even if you want to."
"... Sorry."
"Why are you sorry?" He was surprised, hugging He Fang tighter, "It’s nothing... It was just me being impulsive just now."
Of course, such matters should be consensual and flow naturally; Qin Guanglin didn’t think there was anything wrong with rejecting when one wasn’t in the mood.
After all, the most important thing for a girl shouldn’t be taken lightly; he understood very well.
But he couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed.
He Fang remained silent, watching the movie, unaware of what she was thinking.
"Don’t mind it, I just saw that scene in the movie and suddenly... Well, it’s not a big deal. It’s very normal for you to not want it, particularly in broad daylight, even if we draw the curtains, it’s inappropriate." Qin Guanglin sensed He Fang’s low spirits, leaned close to her ear, and whispered softly, "It’s my fault..."
"Let’s just watch the movie." He Fang turned her head and kissed him, "Stop talking."
"..."
Eh, that was a bit of a surprise.
Watching the screen showing the great flood, the supposed tense atmosphere suddenly eased; though Qin Guanglin’s eyes were on the screen, his mind was not focused there.
"Listen, Rose, you’re going to make it. You’re gonna go on and you’re gonna make lots of babies, and you’re gonna watch them grow. You’re gonna die an old woman, warm in your bed, not here, not tonight, not like this, do you understand?"
Jack, submerged in the cold sea water, his arms on a wooden plank, spoke weakly to Rose, encouraging her, desperately trying to invoke her will to survive.
"Is this love?"
"Yes, this is love." He Fang touched the back of his hand through his clothes, "Is it touching?"
"It was touching, but not to the extent of making me cry; those reviews were too exaggerated," Qin Guanglin shook his head.
"Yes, and they even had time to say goodbye. Many people don’t get that chance; they’re just gone suddenly."
He Fang gazed at the countless bodies floating in the sea on the screen, feeling somewhat emotional, "Like these people, most of them didn’t even get the chance to speak to their loved ones before they became cold bodies. These two only knew each other for a few days; by comparison, these people are more deserving of sympathy."
"It’s normal, who cares about the lives and deaths of ordinary people?"
"Their loved ones care."
"Alright then."
The movie hadn’t ended yet. Rose’s flashback finished, and she reverted to being the old lady with wrinkled face. Alone in the middle of the night, she sneaked out of her room, climbed to the ship’s railing, and looking at the precious ’Heart of the Ocean,’ she gently let go. Like the beautiful love affair that had passed, it slowly sank to the bottom of the sea.
Qin Guanglin watched the ending and sighed, "This ending is a bit more touching than the earlier part."
To him, this scene was more moving than the one on the deck.
"Hmm?"
"She obviously lived till now because of that promise, otherwise she would have died on the plank, together with Jack."
Qin Guanglin lay flat, moving his palms, contentedly letting out a breath, feeling the movie was worth watching, "Living people are always more tired than the dead. The dead know nothing, while she had to live for decades in painful memories, only exhaling in relief when she threw the gem."
He Fang closed her eyes and said nothing; after a long while, just when Qin Guanglin thought she had fallen asleep, she finally spoke, "Kiss me."
Qin Guanglin had just propped himself up when she leaned in already, wrapping around him in an embrace.
"Be gentle...," Qin Guanglin was startled by He Fang, afraid his mouth would swell up.
"I love you." A moment later, she lifted her head to look at Qin Guanglin and said, without waiting for his response, she leaned in again.
Qin Guanglin felt confused, not knowing what had happened until his shirt was taken off, then he suddenly gasped, "You..."
He Fang hummed softly, gazing blankly at him; the two stayed quiet for a moment before she took a deep breath, turned around, and ran out of the bed.
"I’m going to the restroom."
"..."
Qin Guanglin looked down at the torn seams on his own t-shirt, then back at the bedroom door, still somewhat puzzled about the situation.
What had just happened?
After sitting in a daze and unable to figure it out, he picked up his t-shirt, put it on, straightened his clothes, then suddenly paused again.
There was a coin-sized dark stain on his trouser leg.
...
"What are you looking at me like that for?" He Fang returned, her face still flushed, noticing something off in Qin Guanglin’s gaze, feeling slightly embarrassed.
"Nothing..." Qin Guanglin casually lifted the corner of the blanket, "Come here and give me a hug."
It couldn’t be let out, or it would certainly be deadly.
He definitely didn’t want to die young.
"Just now..." He Fang nestled in the blanket, being held by him, and spoke.
"Did the movie move you just now?"
"Yes, it moved me," she nodded, thinking for a moment before asking, "Do you think the female lead is more pitiable than the male lead who died?"
"Don’t you think so?"
Qin Guanglin spoke as if it were obvious, "Decades of suffering every time she remembered it, how could she endure?"
"I don’t think so."
"What do you think then?"
"The dead have no choices left, but the living still have a chance to freely choose," He Fang said seriously.
"Alive or dead, she could still make her own choice after the event, but the other person had no other choice at that moment."
"So it was like Jack gave Rose a chance to choose with his life."
