Chapter 125: Chapter 124: Your Answer is Also My Answer_2

"What kind of?" Qin Guanglin looked down at her, "Just like now, this is pretty good."

Now he was very content, with a job he liked, a girlfriend, and free time—for him, that was enough.

Perhaps many people envied this kind of life... at least they would envy him for having a girlfriend, but there were even more people living this life who were not satisfied, as human desires are endless, no matter how much one has, they always want more.

Being content is the way to be happy, though it might seem lazy, Qin Guanglin felt very happy, as this was exactly the life he wanted.

"Are you satisfied now?" He Fang was still looking at the stars in the sky.

"Pretty much," Qin Guanglin thought carefully, "Definitely satisfied for now, but in the future we’ll have to get married, and then... let’s talk about the future when it comes." A smile played at the corners of his mouth, "Anyway, having you is enough."

"Hmph, flattery will get you nowhere," He Fang gave him a sideward glance, "You still have to go jogging."

"What kind of life do you want then?" Qin Guanglin asked in return.

"Me..."

She tilted her head pretending to ponder for a while before she turned to him with a sly smile, "I want the life you want."

"What kind of answer is that?"

"That is an answer in itself."

"Don’t you have your own desires?" Qin Guanglin felt she was brushing him off.

While it sounded pleasing, he didn’t want it this way, he wanted to know what He Fang wanted.

He Fang didn’t answer but instead leaned closer to him and countered, "Why do you think we’re together?"

"Because..." Qin Guanglin hesitated, thought for a moment, then replied, "Because we like each other."

"And why do we like each other?"

"..."

"Go on."

"Why does there have to be a reason for liking someone?" Qin Guanglin couldn’t come up with an answer and tossed the question back to her, "You tell me, why do you like me?"

"I’ve already given my answer just now."

He Fang pulled his hand to lay flat on her leg and then placed her own small hand on it, comparing the size like she was measuring something, "I want the life you want, not because you want it and therefore I want it too, but because what we both want is the same."

Qin Guanglin was taken aback, "And what is that?"

"Waking up together every day, lazing in bed for a while, then having breakfast together before going out; coming home from work in the evening to buy groceries, me cooking, you washing the dishes, then choosing a favorite movie to watch together, me preparing lesson plans at the table, you painting in the studio, an ordinary day passing by, then repeat, repeat, always repeat, never getting tired of it no matter how many times."

She looked down at Qin Guanglin’s large hand, intertwined her fingers between his, and gave a small shake, "Not seeking wealth or fortune, spend more when we earn more, spend less when we earn less... Whether it’s a big house or a small one, in the end, it’s a home, what’s most important is that two people are together, safe and sound. You would quit your job over excessive overtime that cut into our time together, and I would turn down a head teacher position and honorary titles just for less stress, to leave work earlier, to spend more time with you and... to watch a couple more movies together, to walk in the park a few more times."

Qin Guanglin listened, becoming lost in thought, had she really thought so much about it?

"This is the life I want, and it’s also the life you want, which is why we’re sitting together like this now, looking up at the stars, the right person for each other."

He Fang raised her head to look into his eyes, under the dim yellow streetlight, her eyes were shining brilliantly, as if glowing, "Understand now why we’re together?"

What is the right person?

Whether it’s values, ideals, interests, or even daily habits and personal preferences, they don’t necessarily have to align perfectly, but at the very least, there should be mutual understanding and tolerance. Minor conflicts are trivial as long as there is agreement on the major and serious matters, as long as mutual goals don’t drive the pair apart, then they are right for each other.

A woman, unconcerned with life’s luxuries, seeking only warmth and companionship, would be unhappy married to a high-flying executive. Alone into the night, waiting for the other half who returns from late meetings, collapsing into sleep, and waking early for more work—what good is all the money if it is not the life she wants?

A woman driven to succeed and break into high society would likewise be frustrated with a man content with little wealth, with no lofty ambitions, comfortable and satisfied.

It’s not about who is better or worse, it’s just about not meeting the right person.

The same life, both parties satisfied, working together to maintain and prolong it, that is the start of happiness.

He Fang had long known what she wanted.

"Uhm..." Qin Guanglin was somewhat dazed by He Fang’s words, his heart warmed, but he didn’t know what to say.

She had said all that needed to be said, indeed, it was what he wanted, both watching the sunrise together in the morning, the sunset at dusk, and at night moving chairs outside to sit close and watch the stars.

"Teacher He," he looked straight at He Fang, expression serious, "I can’t live without you like this."

"Then don’t leave," she said.

"True to being a teacher, you speak with such sense," Qin Guanglin lifted her up to sit on his lap, "Give me a kiss."

"Here, in this place? Is that okay?" He Fang turned her head and looked around; there were still many people walking about in the square.

"True, I’ll let you off for now, we’ll talk about it when we get back. Shall we go back now?"

"Let’s sit a little longer, I haven’t watched the stars in a long time, and who knows, maybe we won’t be able to see them in a few years."

"How could we possibly not see them, as if the stars could fall down?" Qin Guanglin laughed, "Who knows how many years they’ve been hanging up there."

"If the air gets worse, you won’t see these stars, look, you can even see that dim one over there," He Fang pointed towards the edge of the sky.

Qin Guanglin didn’t know which star she was referring to, but that didn’t stop him from praising her, "Yeah, you can see even the dim ones, what’s that brightest star called?"

"I don’t know, but we could give it a name, call it the Brightest Star." He Fang casually named it, leaning her head on his shoulder, "That way you can remember it. When I’m not by your side, just look up at this Brightest Star, I’ll use it to keep an eye on you."

"Why not use the moon to watch me?"

"The moon is for obliterating you."

"..."

In the distance, the dancing aunties continued their square dancing, the young dudes whizzed through the crowds on their roller skates, glowing yo-yos spun and snapped as the old man cracked his whip, and playful kids tugged at their parents’ sleeves, wanting to buy bamboo dragonflies.

A breeze suddenly picked up on the street, adding a hint of coolness to the summer night, and the two of them leaned together, talking, occasionally pointing at the sky.

The moon has shone the same for eons, watched by countless generations; it just hangs silently in the sky, mundane yet steadfast.

Just like love.
