Chapter 113: Stay Calm and Keep Cool
Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Stay Calm and Keep Cool
Men can’t say they can’t.
Especially after a girl asks, "Can you manage?" That’s when they definitely can’t say no.
Qin Guanglin gritted his teeth as he moved a box full of books, trudging towards the off-campus area. Fortunately, it was just a moderately-sized box; if she had kept all her textbooks, he wouldn’t have been able to move it no matter what.
"Exhausted, aren’t you?"
When they reached the school gate, He Fang took out a tissue to wipe the sweat off his forehead, "Lucky for me, I don’t have much stuff."
"Just this little bit? Bring two more big bags, and I’ll still manage to bring them over."
"..."
Ha, men.
The taxi arrived quickly, several bags were thrown into the trunk, and the flowerpot was held by He Fang as the two of them got into the car.
"315 South Fly Road."
Qin Guanglin sat in the backseat, catching his breath and curiously looking at the pot of chives-like flowers, "What flower is that?"
"Lycoris radiata."
"Oh, garlic sprouts, huh?"
"It’s not garlic sprouts, it’s Lycoris radiata," corrected He Fang.
He was too lazy to fuss over whether it was garlic or not, "Does it flower?"
"Yes, it does."
"It looks like chives, has it ever bloomed?" Qin Guanglin was skeptical, "Look, the leaves are turning yellow."
His girlfriend must have been deceived, it just looked too much like chives.
He Fang gently touched the leaves of the Lycoris radiata, and after a moment, looked up at him, "How about a bet?"
"A bet on what?" Qin Guanglin was puzzled.
"Betting whether it will bloom."
"Why bet on that?" Seeing He Fang’s confident appearance made him somewhat nervous, "I refuse, no betting."
"No bet?" He Fang frowned.
"No bet."
"No, you have to bet."
"..."
Qin Guanglin felt even more uncertain, "Bet on what?"
Seeing He Fang thinking, he quickly suggested, "How about just betting a dollar?"
"Your money?"
"...Yours, it’s all yours."
"Me betting to win my own money, are you silly?" He Fang had already made up her mind, "Let’s not set the stakes now; we’ll decide when the time comes."
"Alright then."
Qin Guanglin agreed, although he felt like he was definitely going to lose, but on second thought, what could she win?
Even if there was no bet, could he refuse her anything she wanted?
Humph, women just like to make things unnecessarily complicated.
The car quickly arrived at South Fly Road, they paid the fare and began unloading their stuff. Qin Guanglin didn’t try to show off by carrying two items at the same time, "Stay here and watch our stuff, I’ll go up first."
"Okay, take it slow."
He Fang stood holding the flowers downstairs, looked around, and then simply sat down nearby, waiting for him to finish moving everything.
She had deliberately not set a time when they made the bet; she was definitely going to win.
Just what kind of stakes to set...
Qin Guanglin made three trips up and down, which was much easier than the one at school. After moving everything upstairs, he proudly took He Fang on a tour of the kitchen and bedroom.
"Clean, huh?"
"Yeah, quite industrious."
"Give me a kiss." He leaned his head forward.
"Here’s another one for you." He Fang kissed him on both cheeks, "Now, help me organize these things."
"Is this the quilt? Let’s get it laid out first." Qin Guanglin picked up a large bag and ran into the bedroom to start arranging the bedding.
Finally, the move was done. Comfort at last.
He Fang opened the suitcase and took out the clothes one by one, hanging them in the wardrobe. There weren’t many clothes, mostly spring and summer ones, and they were quickly organized.
"I thought moving would be a hassle, but it went by so fast," Qin Guanglin finished making the bed and sighed, then he carried a box of books inside, "Should I open it and put them on the desk, or just leave it in the corner?"
"Put them on the desk, they are used often." He Fang bent down to cut the tape on the box with a key, "I’ll need a chair too, grab one from your place when you go back."
There was only a lonely desk in the bedroom, and a sofa in the living room without a single chair.
"Okay, I’ll get it later."
Qin Guanglin nodded, helped her move the books to the desk and sort them out. Suddenly, his movements paused, and he curiously asked, "You still read this?"
Pregnancy and childbirth encyclopedia... as thick as a dictionary.
"Ah?" He Fang was stunned, "That’s for... my research, for a novel I’m writing."
"That serious?" Qin Guanglin clicked his tongue, "No wonder you earn so much in royalties, not just writing anything, let me read it sometime."
"I’ll give you a signed copy when it’s published, now hurry up and help me finish up."
"Alright."
After Qin Guanglin neatly arranged the books, he suddenly chuckled and winked at her, "Take a good look, it might come in handy later."
"Really?" He Fang played with her hair, smiling at him, "How so?"
"Uh..." Qin Guanglin faltered, then continued to organize the desk.
Failed teasing, and instead got teased, why can’t I ever learn?
Various writing books and novels were neatly stacked on one side of the desk. Luckily, the desk was large enough, the books only occupied a little over a third of the desk space, leaving plenty of room for He Fang to lay on the desk and write.
This single room was indeed enough, hardly any luggage or other belongings.
Living too simply.
"Is this all you have?" Qin Guanglin was puzzled; if it was him moving, it would have been much more.
"Just this for now." He Fang lay back on the bed and breathed a sigh of relief, "Donated the useless things, only kept these."
"That was quick, all done just like that."
"What else did you expect?"
"I remember helping a friend move out of the dorm, with big and small packages..." Qin Guanglin recalled helping Sun Wen move, and shook his head, "Nothing like you, just a few books, a few clothes, a flower, that’s all."
"Enough is enough."
"Right, I’ll go get the chair." He looked around, seeing there was nothing else to do, and prepared to go home to get the chair.
"No rush, I’m not using it now anyway, we can move it tonight or tomorrow." He Fang patted the bed, "Tired? Rest for a while."
"I am a bit tired." Qin Guanglin did not hesitate to jump on the bed and embrace her, "Let’s rest a bit."
"It’s too hot, don’t be so close."
"Turn on the air conditioning." He fumbled for a moment to find the remote control, "I’ll go downstairs later and buy a cooling mat."
"It’s fine like this, cooling mats are uncomfortable." He Fang didn’t like using cooling mats, "Keep calm and it’ll be cool enough."
"Alright."
Qin Guanglin reached out to grab her hand that was wandering towards his stomach, "You’re messing around, I can’t stay calm."
"Then don’t hold me." He Fang moved away huffily.
Not even allowing a touch on the stomach, when had he become so stingy.
"Here you go, here you go." Qin Guanglin moved closer, "Just don’t blame me if it’s a reflex."
"A reflex from touching the stomach?"
He closed his eyes and nodded affirmatively, "Yes."
That smooth, soft hand moved across his stomach, the ticklish sensation felt like it was scratching right at his heart, especially while holding her. It would be strange if nothing happened.
"Hold back." He Fang snickered, regardless of if it was a reflex or not, she’d just have fun first.
Playing with his flat stomach really was quite fun.
