Li Zhi looked down at Gu Shuangshuang, and in the faint light of the streetlamp, he saw the redness around her eyes and the shining tears that had started to flow.

It was the first time he had seen such a strong girl cry, which made him somewhat at a loss.

The two of them were silent for a while until he finally made a decision.

"I can let you go! But there’s one condition, I must go with you!" Li Zhi paused before saying to Gu Shuangshuang, "As your brother, to accompany you!"

Gu Shuangshuang was stunned, lifted her hand to wipe the tears from her cheeks, and laughed as she cursed him, "You bastard! Couldn’t you have made this decision earlier? You almost got me killed here!"

Li Zhi didn’t reply; he climbed onto the windowsill from the outside and tumbled into the room. Turning his head back to Gu Shuangshuang, he said, "Wait here, I’ll go open the door!"

The door opened, and he let Gu Shuangshuang in, telling her, "Go sleep for a while; I’ll call you when it’s dawn."

"I won’t! I’ll wait for the dawn with you," Gu Shuangshuang stubbornly said.

Li Zhi looked at her, sighed, nodded his head, and agreed.

Gu Shuangshuang set the alarm clock for five o’clock, then placed it on the living room table.

The two of them sat on the sofa, looking at each other until they both leaned together and fell into a deep sleep.

In the early morning, Duan Aihua came downstairs and couldn’t help but laugh at the sight before her.

"Of course, it’s a trip!" Li Zhi took Duan Aihua’s arm and whispered, "How could I possibly take Gu Shuangshuang to see my rival? You can rest assured, I will take good care of her and definitely won’t let her go see Tian Niu, okay?"

After repeated assurances from Li Zhi, Duan Aihua agreed, thinking that if the two of them developed feelings over time, it would be for the best.

Duan Aihua had a soldier escort Gu Shuangshuang and Li Zhi to the train station.

Once they found their seats on the train, Gu Shuangshuang’s heart leapt with excitement.

"I don’t want to be your bro; I want to be your man, is that okay?" Li Zhi said with a wry smile.

"Sorry, mate! No chance for us in this lifetime, but I promise if I meet a suitable girl, I will definitely introduce her to you."
