As the program neared its end, Xin Ni slipped out of the auditorium and called Xiaolin over from the back row of seats.

Xiaolin had met Xin Ni once at An Hao’s place. The two left the auditorium, and Xin Ni said to him, "Have you lost a little notebook?"

Upon hearing this, Xiaolin became immediately excited, for he had indeed lost his small notebook, which contained many of his moods and verses.

Knowing Xin Ni to ask such a question, Xiaolin realized she must have a clue, "Sister, have you seen my little notebook?"

"Yes, I have! If you want it back, just go to the small storage next to the auditorium after the program ends." Xin Ni told him.

"The small storage? Hasn’t that been abandoned and unused for a while? Why go there?" Xiaolin was puzzled.

The small storage was not far from the auditorium, originally used to store fuel.

However, due to the age of the warehouse, a piece of the roof had fallen off, and it leaked whenever it rained.

Since the location of this small storage was not ideal, the leadership decided to build a new one instead.

After the small storage was abandoned, the contents inside were cleared out, leaving behind a pile of assorted items in the corner. After some time, the plan was to empty it further and then dismantle it.

"That’s right! Go there! After you arrive, wait for me for a bit, as I need your help to look for a small table among that pile of useless things."

"Alright then!" Although the warrior found it strange, he didn’t think much of it.

Who would suspect someone they had only met once of harboring any ill intentions?

After arranging things on her end, Xin Ni waited at the entrance of the auditorium and asked any warrior who came out early to pass a message to An Hao.

That Qin Jian was waiting for her in that abandoned small storage.

An Hao was originally skeptical; why would Qin Jian go to the storage at such a late hour?

So, she asked the warrior, "Did the chief of staff tell you this himself?"

"No! A family member told me!" the warrior replied truthfully.

"Alright, then take me to see this family member!" An Hao said.

"Okay, Sister-in-law, please come with me!"

An Hao followed the warrior outside, and upon exiting the auditorium, she saw Xin Ni standing there.

"Did she tell you to pass the message to me?" An Hao asked the warrior.

"Yes, Sister-in-law!"

"Thank you," she said.

After the warrior left, An Hao looked at Xin Ni and asked, "Out with it, what kind of trick are you playing now?"

"What trick could I possibly be playing? If the chief of staff hadn’t asked me to wait for you, I wouldn’t bother waiting." Xin Ni retorted.

"Qin Jian asked you to wait for me? Hell will freeze over first!" An Hao absolutely did not believe Qin Jian would ask Xin Ni to wait for her—there was no reason for it!

"The chief of staff found two tables discarded from the military canteen in the small storage, and he asked you to pick one," Xin Ni concocted the lie.

That day at lunch, An Hao had mentioned looking for a table to bring back, but she had spoken only to Qin Jian.

Xin Ni wasn’t supposed to know this; it seemed she might not be lying.

However, An Hao didn’t know that Xin Ni had often sneaked to the doorway of her house to eavesdrop through the cracks.

An Hao wasn’t at ease. She might have believed anyone else, but with Xin Ni, she had to be cautious.

"Why are you dawdling? What’s there not to trust? I’ll take you there; is that good enough?" Xin Ni appeared extremely irritated, "Do I look that rotten to you? Come on, let’s go! If Chief Qin isn’t there, I’ll kneel down and call you ancestor, okay? It’s only a blink away; what are you hesitating for!"

Having said that, Xin Ni took the lead and walked ahead.
