Chapter 854: Guiding the Dance
Chapter 854: Chapter 854: Guiding the Dance
The warrior standing at the very front was Xiaolin, the warrior who had dinner at her house that day, the shy, blush-prone Xiaolin.
"Sister-in-law! How come we haven’t seen the staff officer today?" one of the warriors said to her.
It was only then that An Hao had a clear look and realized that all these warriors were the ones who had fish at her house that day.
"He’s been called away by the regimental commander," An Hao smiled, pointing to the pairs of warriors dancing in the ballroom. She turned to the few people beside her and asked, "Why are so many people learning ballroom dancing today?"
"Sister-in-law, you don’t know about this, right? Isn’t it the August 1 Army Day? A lot of the warriors’ girlfriends and family members are coming over. The commander said everyone who participates gets a gift!"
"Right! This is another activity to promote the sublimation of revolutionary camaraderie, so everyone’s learning! Sister-in-law, if you know how, would you teach us?"
"Of course, I’ll teach you!" An Hao agreed readily, "Come on, pair up freely, and I’ll guide you in dancing."
"Okay."
After the warriors had paired off, Xiaolin was the only one left without a dance partner.
He stood there awkwardly, his face turning red again.
"If you don’t mind, you could pair up with me!" An Hao offered.
The warriors in the military camp were pure-hearted people, and having lived an extra life, she wasn’t particularly bothered about changing dance partners temporarily for the ballroom dancing.
"No... no need... Sister-in-law, I won’t dance... I... I’m not dancing anymore." Xiaolin became even more flustered and blushed harder, stuttering as he spoke.
Seeing him so nervous, and since he had said he wasn’t dancing, An Hao did not insist and directly went to guide others.
Xiaolin stood by and watched An Hao’s every move, observing her beautiful figure and gentle smile; he was reminded of his girlfriend back home.
She was as gentle and kind as An Hao. He hoped that he could be promoted in the army, and then he would marry his girlfriend.
By then, when she came to visit, he hoped to at least have a place for them to stay.
As Xiaolin was watching An Hao, another gaze in the crowd was fixed on Xiaolin, belonging to Xin Ni.
She had come here with nothing better to do and, upon a casual glance, discovered something.
It turned out that this bashful young warrior was experiencing the stirring of youth, and the way he looked at the staff officer’s wife seemed to suggest something else; it appeared he had developed a liking for An Hao.
Xin Ni had been fretting over not being able to grasp anything on An Hao, and now she had material to work with.
Xiaolin, looking at An Hao, envisioned his girlfriend’s face in his mind. Suddenly feeling a surge of emotion, he pulled out a piece of paper and a notebook from his upper pocket and found a spot to quickly jot down a passionate poem.
This poem, he planned to polish it up when he got back and then send it to his girlfriend back home!
Qin Jian returned from the Qinzheng Building and went to find An Hao in the auditorium.
As soon as he arrived, the group of warriors dispersed.
As they passed by Xiaolin, they noticed him with his head down, scribbling something in his notebook, and they swarmed around him.
"Poet Xiaolin, what poem are you secretly writing now? Show us, let everyone have a look."
"Yeah! Don’t just keep to yourself, let’s hear it and give you some feedback."
"No! I won’t show you!" Xiaolin clutched his notebook tightly, afraid that someone would snatch it away, for it was the territory of his spirit, inviolable by others.
"Don’t be so stingy!"
"Come on! Let us have a look!"
