Chapter 818: Chapter 818: Unexpected Phone Call
"Alright!" An Hao agreed cheerfully, "It depends on your schedule, sister-in-law, but I can only do dinner, I’m busy during the day."
"I know. Chunhua told me you’re in the medical team!" Zhang Guifang said with a smile, "Let’s see when Brother Qin Jian isn’t busy, and have him and your brother Li Zhi join us for a few drinks."
"Sure. No problem. Then it’s settled," An Hao said, and then she hung up the phone.
Zhang Guiying didn’t mention anything about Cousin Xin Ni, and An Hao didn’t ask further.
After all, encountering such a frustrating matter would upset anyone, wouldn’t it? An Hao couldn’t help but recall Yueqin from her past life. How could she have been so naive?
She had utterly failed to see Yueqin’s covetousness towards Qin Jian.
In this life, she had to keep her eyes wide open and absolutely prevent the tragedy from repeating; she certainly didn’t want to jump from the twelfth floor again like in her dreams.
After hanging up the phone, An Hao was about to go to dinner when she suddenly remembered that Cheng Yu wanted to call home and report her safety.
She hadn’t allowed Cheng Yu to come back today, and although she hadn’t said much, she must have been anxious inside, right?
After pondering for a bit, An Hao picked up the phone again.
This time she called Gu Shuangshuang. Before leaving, she had given her phone number to Shuangshuang and told her to call whenever.
Unexpectedly, it came in handy now.
Gu Shuangshuang was at Li Zhi’s place in the Nanji Military Region, and Li Zhi was always hanging out with Cheng Yue, so letting Li Zhi relay a message to Cheng Yue was probably a good idea, right?
That way, Teacher Cheng Yu wouldn’t have to worry anymore.
The phone call connected, and the voice that came through was indeed Li Zhi’s, "Hello, who is this?"
"It’s me, An Hao."
"Aiyoh! Little junior sister! Is this what they call a pleasant surprise?" Li Zhi’s banter was at its peak. "I was wondering why my right eyelid was twitching these past few days. Turns out someone was thinking..."
"You’ve been possessed by Cheng Yue?" An Hao interrupted him, "Stop being so full of yourself. Who would think about you!"
"Little junior sister, I hadn’t finished my sentence. I was about to say, could it be that you’re missing our Shuangshuang? If so, I must tell you, I’m really sorry. She’s been grounded by Aunt Duan. She’s not allowed any contact with the outside world, except for eating and going to the bathroom," Li Zhi explained.
An Hao could guess with her toes that Gu Shuangshuang had had another falling out with her mother and was now under her mother’s discipline.
"I’m not looking for Gu Shuangshuang. I wanted to speak with you. I have a favor to ask; could you tell Cheng Yue that Teacher Cheng is doing well here and to not worry about her," An Hao said.
"Ah, Cheng Yue is right here. Hold on, you can talk to him directly," Li Zhi replied, then turned to call Cheng Yue, "An Hao’s on the phone for you."
Cheng Yue was frowning over a chess endgame; he was surprised to hear that An Hao was calling for him.
He quickly put down the chess piece and rushed over, "Little junior sister, you were looking for me?"
"Yes. Here’s the thing, I’m calling to report safety for Teacher Cheng. She said she was afraid you all would worry, especially the parents, and since she couldn’t find a phone, I thought I’d pass the message first."
"Huh?" Now it was Cheng Yue’s turn to be surprised, "What’s got into my sister? She actually remembered to call and report her safety?"
"What do you mean by that?" An Hao was puzzled, "It sounds like Teacher Cheng never used to call and report her safety when she was away."
"You could say that. Every time my sister stepped out of the house, she would never contact us. A month away, no contact for a month. A year away, no contact for a year."
"Why is that?" An Hao asked in amazement.
