Chapter 726: Chapter 726: Exchanging Secrets
Li Zhi left, and Gu Shuangshuang laughed.
What a joke, how could she ever give that scoundrel Cheng Yue An Hao’s home phone number?
Wasn’t that just asking for trouble for An Hao?
If she didn’t give out the number, that kid Li Zhi would pester her incessantly, which was annoying, so Gu Shuangshuang deliberately changed the last digit of An Hao’s phone number, turning a three into a four.
Who knew where that idiot would end up calling?
.............................................
The Spring Festival Gala was continuously playing on the TV, with Cheng Nanfang and his wife sitting quietly by, watching.
In the past, the usually carefree Cheng Yue would definitely be munching on an apple, laughing heartily at the comic sketches on the TV, but this year, he had someone on his mind.
Although he had lost the fight and made a vow, his heart couldn’t stop thinking about that person.
There he was, sitting in the living room, his eyes glued to the TV, but his thoughts were far away.
"Yuyu! Yuyu!" Qi Siyuan saw Cheng Yue mechanically eating, almost swallowing the apple core, and quickly called out to him twice.
Cheng Yue snapped back to reality, looked down at the object in his hand, and threw it away with a look of disgust.
"What are you thinking about?" Qi Siyuan sighed. "Tell me, between you and your sister, you two finally got together this year, and each of you has more concerns than the other."
"My sister is still upstairs? I’ll go check on her." Having said that, Cheng Yue got up and went upstairs.
The door was slightly ajar.
Cheng Yue still knocked gently.
"Come in," a gentle voice drifted out from the room. "The door is open."
Cheng Yue pushed the door open and saw Cheng Yu’s silhouette. She stood by the window in a cotton pajama, her black wavy hair cascading down her back like seaweed, cradling a cup of coffee that she was slowly sipping, its rich yet slightly bitter aroma permeating the air.
"Sis, drinking coffee again?" Cheng Yue rubbed his nose. "Smells good."
"Do you want a cup?" Cheng Yu turned around, her pretty face emerging, but her eyes were filled with a faint, indelible melancholy.
"No, no, no!" Cheng Yue waved his hands repeatedly, walked up, and stood on the other side of the window. "It’s too bitter. I don’t like it!"
Cheng Yu smiled, sipped her coffee without insisting, and gazed out at the snowy landscape through the window: "It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the snow in our hometown."
"Sis, it’s been what, eight years since you went abroad?" Cheng Yue counted on his fingers. "I feel like after eight years, you come back, and I almost don’t recognize you."
The passionate sister from before had disappeared, replaced by someone as melancholic as Lin Daiyu.
"I’m still me. There’s no difference from before." Cheng Yu’s gaze returned to her brother. "But you! You’ve changed a lot since this semester. You’re different from when I came back from abroad at the beginning of the year. You’ve learned to worry and now have your own concerns. Sister is curious, what’s the girl you like like? I’m really curious, what kind of girl can make my brother daydream all day long?"
Cheng Yue wanted to share his concerns with his sister. He was about to speak but then swallowed his words and shifted the topic onto Cheng Yu: "How about we make a trade, sis? I’ll tell you my secret, and you tell me yours! I want to know what the man who haunts your dreams is like?"
