Chapter 681: Chapter 680: The Family’s Predicament
Every day, bathing and cleaning himself was Song Fei’s responsibility.
No one took care of his meals; he had to rely on nutrient solutions to sustain himself.
That stuff was dead expensive, and most of Song Fei’s money was spent on it.
The intentions of Song Fei’s parents were clear—they did not want this daughter-in-law.
If Song Fei was willing to take care of her, he could; if not, he could send her back to the Qin Family.
Song Fei and Yueqin, those two from the Song Family, were essentially at odds with each other, but the two families never confronted the issue directly. They beat around the bush, and all the grievances were borne by the Qin Family.
It was tough being caught in the middle. Qin Ru Hai had to manage his temper because of his injuries and illness. Qin Fen’s wife had not even been brought home yet, but his heart had already flown to her, not understanding at all the predicaments of his mother.
Now she was the one in a difficult spot on both sides.
She wanted to talk to Qin Jian about it, but would the Ning Family be happy to know?
It was only after listening to Junping that Qin Jian learned about the many troubles at home.
"Qin Fen, there are difficulties at home right now, you need to be more understanding! Don’t always go against mom and dad! A wedding is a matter of face; if we can afford it, we’ll have a big celebration, if not, we’ll keep it modest. Everyone knows about our family’s difficulties, no one will laugh," Qin Jian said.
"I...!" Qin Fen was furious, but he didn’t dare to say what followed.
He dared to provoke anyone, except for Qin Jian!
"If you have any opinions, just say them!" Seeing him hold back, Qin Jian encouraged him to speak up.
"I’ve got nothing to say!" After saying that, Qin Fen got up and left the room.
"Look at that! Just look at his attitude towards me!" Junping said tearfully, "I said this marriage shouldn’t happen. Look at all this trouble..."
"Mom, stop crying. Whether he’s upset or not, let’s just get the wedding over with," Qin Jian suggested. Then, remembering the people’s lazy attitude at work in the yard, he asked about the situation.
"It’s still about not having money," replied Junping, who truly felt the harsh reality of their situation, "Even our own family members don’t want to help, let alone outsiders. Qin Fen has managed to offend everyone somehow with his mouth; who would still want to help? Neighbors expect red packets for their help, they want to be treated to meals. Our family is already in debt because of preparing for the wedding, and when people see we’re not able to repay them, who would want to lend to us?"
However, there was one family Junping hadn’t asked to borrow from, and that was the An Family.
She knew that An Hao and Yueqin were at odds. Now that Yueqin had already made a mess of things, she couldn’t possibly borrow money from the An Family for the wedding.
She was afraid of dragging the An Family into this mess and upsetting An Hao.
After all, An Hao had always treated them well.
They could eat the vegetables for free, and she had helped quite a lot with Qin Feng’s matters.
In her heart, Junping was grateful.
Fortunately, Qin Jian had married the right woman. Otherwise, it really would have been the death of them.
Qin Jian felt sorry for his foster parents who were in such a dire situation. Although his foster mother verbally criticized Qin Fen, deep down she felt sorry that they couldn’t provide anything for their son’s marriage.
She must be feeling as if she were burning up inside.
Without money, the wedding couldn’t be arranged. There were plenty of people in the yard, mostly just wandering around not doing much work, all just waiting to watch the excitement.
"Mom, don’t worry! I’ll figure something out," Qin Jian took all the responsibilities upon himself. "Isn’t it just a problem of money? I’ll solve that, and everything will be fine."
After speaking, he gave An Hao a meaningful look, signaling her to follow him out.
The two of them moved to a place where they were alone. Qin Jian wanted to discuss the matter with An Hao since it concerned borrowing money. He couldn’t afford to let his foster parents suffer, not for Qin Fen or for the Qin Family.
Seeing him open his mouth, An Hao already understood his intention: "You don’t have to say it; I get what you mean. Taking money is fine, but it has to be on my terms!"
