"Dad, what’s wrong? Why do you seem so unhappy as we walk?"

"I’m not unhappy," An Shuchao walked with his hands clasped behind him, sighing as he went, "I’m just a bit worried."

"What are you worried about?" An Ping asked curiously.

"I’m worried about your sister!" Ever since An Shuchao had divorced, he had devoted himself entirely to his two children.

"My sister?" An Ping was puzzled. "Isn’t my sister doing quite well? What’s there to worry about?"

An Shuchao showed rare attentiveness. "An Ping, you saw what happened today. Your brother-in-law’s status has changed; he’s the Commander’s son now. It’s not necessarily true that all the girls who like him do so sincerely. Surely some are interested in his background. There were quite a few before, and I bet there will be more in the future. The city girls are each prettier than the last; I’m worried that if Qin Jian and An Hao don’t get married soon, what if some other girl snatches him away?"
