Chapter 394: Chapter 394: Unexpected Discovery
Actually, Qin Feng’s pregnancy was a perfect opportunity for a marriage proposal, and once the news spread throughout the village, there was no way she could refuse to marry him.
But that wasn’t what he wanted to do.
What he wanted was for Qin Feng to like him and to marry him willingly.
As the two of them were eating, they heard a familiar laughter; Qin Feng looked up and to her surprise saw An Hao: "My future sister-in-law."
After uttering those words, she was about to go and find An Hao.
But then she suddenly saw another old woman sitting at the table next to them, the Commander’s wife who had slapped her mother that day in her home.
Instantly, Qin Feng’s heart sank.
When he saw the change in Qin Feng’s expression, Song Fei was somewhat puzzled.
He had heard about the Qin Family’s situation, but he had never seen the Commander’s wife, so Song Fei did not recognize that Zhang Yun was the Commander’s wife.
All he saw was that Qin Feng was unhappy, so he casually asked, "What’s wrong with you?"
Qin Feng said through gritted teeth, "Nothing! I just saw two people I didn’t want to see, that’s all."
An Hao really had some tricks up her sleeve; she hooked up with them after finding out that Commander’s wife was Qin Jian’s biological mother.
This fair-weather fellow, just looking at her made Qin Feng’s teeth itch!
Then there was that Zhang Yun; if it hadn’t been for her appearance, Qin Jian would still be her brother, sending home a hefty salary every month.
Now, not a single penny was left!
Because of her, her mother washed her face with tears every day!
"If you’re fine, then hurry up and eat. We have an appointment for the surgery this afternoon. Don’t be late," Song Fei urged her.
Qin Feng snorted and then buried her head to continue eating.
Qin Feng ate to bursting and then patted her round belly as she stood up. As a result, she saw An Hao and Zhang Yun also getting up.
They had finished their meal, and were actually carrying away a bunch of food.
Qin Feng felt very perplexed, waved to Song Fei, and then signaled for him to keep quiet and to just continue following her.
She followed An Hao and Zhang Yun into the inpatient department and saw them walking into a ward; she quietly trailed after them.
She had thought that the person lying in the hospital bed would be Commander Ning, but to her surprise, it was Qin Jian, dressed in patient’s clothes.
Qin Jian was actually injured!
Qin Feng wanted to push open the door to ask, but she held back. Even if Qin Jian still recognized her, his biological parents probably wouldn’t give her a good look, so she decided not to invite trouble and left without saying a word.
After the surgery, Qin Feng and Song Fei returned to the village.
Before parting, Qin Feng pointed a warning finger at Song Fei’s nose, "We better keep this to ourselves! If I hear anyone badmouthing me behind my back, I absolutely won’t let you off easy!"
"Alright. Don’t worry! Fengfeng, whatever you say goes, I’ll listen to you in everything," Song Fei said.
"That’s more like it," Qin Feng said, satisfied.
Song Fei took some change out of his pocket and handed it to Qin Feng, "Buy yourself something nice to eat and take care of yourself these next few days. When I get a chance, I’ll come to see you."
"Don’t. I don’t want to see you," said Qin Feng, and with that, she turned around and walked towards her home.
When Qin Feng got home, she saw her father, Qin Ru Hai, squatting on the doorstep, blowing out puffs of thick smoke and occasionally coughing.
Her mother, Li Junping, was cooking in the kitchen. Qin Feng took a peek and saw rice porridge, steamed buns, and pickles—she knew at a glance she had no appetite for any of it.
"Mom, can’t you see I’m growing and need to eat better?" Qin Feng complained unhappily to her.
