Chapter 389: Chapter 389 You Still Came
So, after consulting with the Commander’s wife, Group Leader Zhang announced to the internal staff that Qin Jian was carrying out a secret mission under orders from his superiors.
Paper cannot contain fire.
An Hao knew, and so did Ning Yibin.
He had been living with Zhang Yun for over thirty years, and he knew his wife’s happiness and sorrows like the back of his hand.
These past few days, his wife had been acting absent-minded, which inevitably made him suspicious! And his inquiries indeed revealed a problem.
As expected, their son had suffered serious injuries and was admitted to the hospital.
The hospital had issued two critical condition notices, and Ning Yibin, agitated, almost fell ill again.
When An Hao arrived at the hospital, Qin Jian had already been moved out of the ICU and transferred to a regular ward.
Seeing Qin Jian lying on the hospital bed, pale as a ghost, An Hao’s heart felt as if it was being sliced with a knife.
Ning Yibin and Zhang Yun each sat on one side of the bed, guarding their son, especially Zhang Yun, whose eyes were red and swollen as if she had cried many times.
"Commander! Madam, we’ve come to see Qin Jian," said Group Leader Zhang, carrying something and looking apologetically at An Hao, "We didn’t want to tell her either. But An Hao was very worried and found out on her own. So..."
Ning Yibin stood up and waved his hand at Group Leader Zhang, "It doesn’t matter. An Hao was worried, and now she knows."
An Hao felt a sharp sting in her nose, and tears began to swirl in her eyes. She tried her best to hold them back, afraid that her crying would trigger Ning Yibin and Zhang Yun to start weeping again.
"Uncle, Aunt, I came to see Qin Jian," said An Hao as she stepped forward.
Zhang Yun stood up, making room for her, and gently patted An Hao’s shoulder to comfort her, "Child, don’t be afraid. Qin Jian is already alright! He’ll wake up in a bit!"
"Mm-hm," An Hao nodded, and looking at Ning Yibin and Zhang Yun, she said, "Uncle, Aunt, don’t be too sad. If you get sick from grief, it might just worry Qin Jian more when he wakes up."
"Okay," Ning Yibin nodded, relieved, "Don’t worry, we’ll take care of ourselves."
Zhang Yun bent down to look at the sleeping Qin Jian and said to Ning Yibin and Group Leader Zhang’s couple, "Let’s go outside for a bit of fresh air. Let’s leave this place for An Hao. When Jianzi wakes up, let them have a good talk."
"Okay," Ning Yibin nodded.
...............
The ward quieted down, and An Hao sat on the other side of the bed, silently waiting for Qin Jian to wake up.
Watching him lying there motionless with his eyes closed, An Hao inexplicably felt heartache. The tears she had been holding back finally broke free and began to fall steadily.
As her tears fell onto the back of Qin Jian’s hand, he felt the wetness and woke up from his deep slumber.
His vision gradually cleared from the blur, and upon seeing An Hao sitting in front of him, he let out a deep sigh, lifted his hand to wipe away her tears, "You came after all."
"Yes, I still came," An Hao said, holding his hand and couldn’t help but reproach him, "You suffered such a serious injury and didn’t even tell me. Do you know how worried I was about you?"
Qin Jian smiled, his lips pale as he softly said, "That’s why I didn’t want to tell you, because I was afraid you’d worry. Yet you still found out."
"I was worried about you. I couldn’t eat or sleep. Not letting anyone tell me, made me worry even more," An Hao looked at him reproachfully.
"Alright. It’s my fault. I won’t hide anything from you in the future."
"That’s how it should be," An Hao said, glaring at him.
Qin Jian laughed, revealing his shining teeth.
An Hao, looking at his haggard face, couldn’t help but reach out and caress his cheek, "With an injury like this, you’ll need at least a month to recover, won’t you?"
