Chapter 320: Chapter 318: Qin Jian, I Can’t Bear to Leave You

The two were arguing when Qin Ru Hai suddenly came in.

Seeing his future daughter-in-law holding a kitchen knife and his son holding her hand from behind, they looked incredibly sweet together.

He chuckled twice and then left.

An Hao felt extremely embarrassed and was about to shoo Qin Jian out of the kitchen when she heard him say, "Let me do the chopping, and you just keep me company. I’m going back to the city in a few days, so it’s good for you to spend more time with me!"

"Going back to the city?" An Hao was startled, "Why so soon?"

Qin Jian nodded, "I’ve pretty much finished my work; the city power company can handle the rest. I need to get back to the research institute."

Hearing this put an abrupt end to An Hao’s good mood.

She stood silently behind Qin Jian without a word.

"You’re going to start college soon, too, and then we’ll be closer to each other. I’ll have more time to see you," Qin Jian said, looking down and chopping vegetables.

Suddenly, he felt a weight against his back and froze completely.

An Hao had unexpectedly hugged him from behind, and warm tears seeped from the corners of her eyes, soaking through his thin shirt, "Qin Jian, I don’t want to let you go!"

Qin Jian didn’t want to let go of An Hao either, and her actions stirred some discomfort in his heart.

He put down the knife, turned around, and embraced An Hao, "Don’t cry! I’m sorry I can’t be with you more. But there’s only so much I can do about work..."

"You don’t need to explain, I understand, and I’m not blaming you," An Hao muttered, "I just really don’t want to let you go! That’s all, nothing else."

Qin Jian looked at An Hao with an affectionate longing and smiled contentedly. He gently stroked her hair and whispered in her ear, "You make me feel so impulsive, I really want to rush to marry you!"

At his words, An Hao laughed, "Sorry, Comrade Battalion Commander! You’ll have to wait two more years until I turn twenty!"

Qin Jian drew a cold breath, "Suddenly I’m not so fond of this new marriage law! Why can’t a girl get married at eighteen and a guy at twenty? Waiting another two years, I’ll be thirty-two!"

"Hmm! Quite the old man, aren’t you?" An Hao teased him, laughing.

"Old?" Qin Jian’s lips curled, "You’ll get to see just how old I am not!"

While the two were embracing, Qin Feng was sent by Li Junping to help in the kitchen. Catching this scene, Qin Feng shouted, "Good heavens! It’s broad daylight! Mom sent you two to cook, and here you are making out in the kitchen."

An Hao’s face turned red from Qin Feng’s words; she quickly pushed Qin Jian away and picked up the knife to continue chopping vegetables.

Qin Jian’s lips pursed as his chilly gaze fell on Qin Feng, who shivered in fright.

"Qin Jian, don’t... don’t look at me with that look. It’s not like I did it on purpose. Why didn’t you find a private place for your affection?" Qin Feng trembled at the sight of Qin Jian’s eyes.

Her brother was absolutely good to her, but when it came to dealing with her, he definitely didn’t hold back.

"You sure know how to pick your moments," Qin Jian said in a calm tone but with an intimidating edge.

"Hahaha! Blame Mom if you’re going to blame anyone! She’s the one who told me to come help! Seems like I’m an obstruction here. I’d better get out of your way! You carry on!" Qin Feng put all the blame on Li Junping and swiftly made her exit.

Qin Jian shook his head; his sister really wasn’t someone who made things easy for others.
