Chapter 165: Chapter 164: Solving the Company Commander’s Personal Problems
An Hao’s remark made the villagers notice her limping foot.
"An Hao, what happened here?" someone asked her.
"You can ask my stepmother and stepsister, they know better than anyone." Bai Xue, who was making a fuss, suddenly fell silent.
She didn’t dare to confront so many people; if her shameful deeds were exposed in front of the villagers, she would lose all face.
And if the matter between her and Li Wangfu were to be revealed by An Hao, not only would An Shuchao not let her off, but even Li Wangfu’s wife, who was like a tigress, wouldn’t spare her.
An Hao’s words were vague, and although she did not spell it out, they made people more suspicious.
Especially when the names Li Wangfu and Yang Erdan were involved.
Everybody in the village knew Li Wangfu. As the team leader, he was known for his lecherous behavior, and women were told to keep their distance from him; any connection suggested moral impropriety.
It was common knowledge that Yang Erdan had a feud with An Hao, who had become famous from a previous altercation with him.
Sensing that she couldn’t gain an advantage, Bai Xue gave up pretending.
She turned to An Shuchao and asked him just one question, "An Hao wants to clear out everything from Yanjiao’s room. What do you think we should do?"
"Let her clear it out!" An Shuchao waved his hand dismissively. "Once my leg is healed, we’ll refurnish the room for Yanjiao!"
"Alright, then clear it out!" An Hao waved her hand, and An Ping, along with two helpers, began to shift everything they could out of Bai Yanjiao’s room, until only a bed and a large wooden cabinet, too cumbersome to move, were left.
Villagers who couldn’t bear to watch stepped forward to help An Hao move things.
An Hao quickly thanked the villagers and then limped outside.
"An Hao, don’t you consider your father’s feelings when you do this?" Bai Xue asked her resentfully.
An Hao stopped in her tracks and, without turning her head, said, "Before, I cared too much about his feelings..."
She didn’t finish the sentence.
But An Shuchao understood the implication of her words.
She was blaming him for his inaction as a father!
The commotion started with a bang and ended just as dramatically.
Once the courtyard was empty, Bai Yanjiao sat down on the ground, crying pitifully.
The room felt bare, stripped of everything.
Most galling of all, she had intended to deal with An Hao, but in the end, it was she who had been dealt with by An Hao.
She couldn’t swallow that indignity no matter how hard she tried!
As night fell, with the assistance of over a hundred people, the old house of the Hao family was rejuvenated.
The weeds in the yard were cleared, leaving a small patch in the northeast corner where An Hao could plant things.
The leaky roof had been fixed, and the messy branches were fashioned into a beautiful shape.
The other old rooms, cleaned by the warriors, became very tidy.
Next to the kitchen stove, there was a pile of firewood more than a man’s height.
The thoughtful Qin Jian even led his colleagues to pull electric wires for An Hao that very afternoon.
With a lamp inside the house and another in the yard, when lit at night, they shone brightly, banishing any trace of darkness.
Seeing the scene before her, An Hao’s lips curled into a smile, her eyes brimming with tears, unsure of what to say.
"Brother Qin, thank you! Thank you!"
"Don’t just say thank you!" joked a young troublemaker among the warriors, grinning as he teased her, "Our commander isn’t getting any younger, and his personal issues are still unresolved. If you really want to thank him, why not help him solve his personal problems quickly!"
