Chapter 158: Chapter 158 Sorry

"I haven’t prepared anything yet," An Hao said, feeling embarrassed.

"Since that’s the case... let’s just use this directly," Qin Jian said as he took out Red Flower Oil from his pocket.

In the army, injuries and bruises were common, so he often kept some Red Flower Oil on hand.

Sometimes it was for his own use, but more often it was for the warriors.

Over time, the warriors would all keep some as well.

Qin Jian moved a stool in front of An Hao, grasped her ankle with his hand, and opened the Red Flower Oil to pour it onto the top of her foot.

While pouring, he gently massaged it in.

The pain gradually spread, making An Hao suck in a breath of cold air.

"Does it hurt?" Qin Jian glanced at her, lightening his touch even more, "You just sprained your foot, it’s best to apply an ice pack first, and heat it after twenty-four hours to promote blood circulation and dispel stasis. Remember not to do it the other way around."

With her face reddening, An Hao nodded, "I know. It’s just that I got carried away arguing today and forgot about it."

Qin Jian’s hands paused for a moment before continuing to knead, "There are some people and some things you shouldn’t indulge."

"Huh?" An Hao looked at him, not understanding.

"Like the person who hurt you today," Qin Jian said with a deep voice.

An Hao pursed her lips, "I’ll make them pay. I’ve already given them a chance, and I won’t show them any mercy again."

Qin Jian nodded lightly.

The room was quiet, the window open, and the warm afternoon breeze came in, carrying a faint scent of flowers.

Sunlight filtered through the poplar leaves in front of the house and cast a dappled light across Qin Jian’s handsome profile, causing An Hao to stare somewhat dazedly.

Her gaze lingered on his face, unable to move away for a long time.

After applying the medicine and dispersing the bruise, Qin Jian looked up to find An Hao’s eyes, watery as though filled with adoration, staring back at him.

"What are you looking at?" he asked, his thin lips parting slightly.

An Hao was slightly startled and, upon realizing what had happened, her face unconsciously flushed even more.

Heat rose to her cheeks, like a shy begonia blooming in the spring breeze.

"Qin Jian, why are you so nice to me?" An Hao finally couldn’t hold back from asking.

Qin Jian’s gaze deepened as he looked at her, and, in a deep, mellow voice, he spoke, "An Hao, what do you think?"

"I..." She didn’t dare to speak her thoughts, for fear of being embarrassingly wrong.

Seeing her hesitance, Qin Jian reached out to gently take her small hand into his, soft and tender, feeling even better than he had imagined.

An Hao lowered her gaze to see him firmly holding her hand, and as if inspired, heat surged through her mind. She reached back to grasp his slightly rough hand, leaned forward, and pressed her soft lips against his cheek.

Qin Jian’s eyes widened suddenly, a flicker of unexpected joy passing through them.

Before he could react, the door banged open, and An Ping appeared at the entrance, gasping for breath.

"Sis... what are you guys..." Seeing the scene before him, An Ping was dumbfounded.

He had just gone home to help An Hao pack up his things and bring them over, only to walk in on this moment.

He doubted his own eyes, had he seen wrong? He was sure he had just seen his sister kiss Qin Jian’s cheek. An Hao didn’t expect that An Ping’s timing would be so spot on; he didn’t come any earlier or later, but at that very moment.

Even worse, Jian Ying and Tian Niu who followed behind him also saw what happened.

Ah, how mortifying!
