Chapter 1570: Chapter 1570: Something Feels Off

After signing the contract, An Ping felt much more relaxed in his heart.

According to the delivery time, they still had five or six days to prepare. To welcome the coming three days, An Ping had limited the wholesale time to just half a day each day.

By the start of the third day, as per the agreement with the vegetable farmers, it was time for them to deliver.

Since the early morning, An Ping had been standing at the company’s entrance, waiting for the vegetable farmers to come with their deliveries.

Unexpectedly, from eight in the morning until noon at twelve, there was not a single person in sight.

An Ping felt something was off and hastily called over Wang Erzhu and Liu Xiaolian: "Do you two also feel that something seems not quite right? This entire morning not a single vegetable delivery truck has come."

"Indeed." Wang Erzhu scratched his head, "I just directed the workers to clear out our warehouse. It felt like today was going to be busy, so why is there not a soul around now?"

"How did you explain things to the vegetable farmers?" An Ping inquired.

"We explained just as we should. You’ve seen the previous orders, but..." Wang Erzhu was puzzled.

"I did the same," said Liu Xiaolian, who also knew this time was different from before. Therefore, he was very cautious and earnest when negotiating with the vegetable farmers.

It wasn’t easy getting this company up and running; they could not afford to repeat their mistakes this time.

"I have a feeling that something is wrong here. There must be a problem! Let’s divide up, each person responsible for a few vegetable farmers, and visit each one in turn. I want to see what the issue with these vegetable farmers really is."

"Okay. Let’s do as An Ping says."

An Ping, along with several workers, went to visit the vegetable farmers, who were their partners under long-term supply contracts.

The first he visited was one of the larger vegetable farmers. As An Ping approached, he spotted a large tractor pulling vegetables out of the fields.

Assuming they were just now setting off, An Ping let out a sigh of relief and walked over to speak with the vegetable farmer standing at the edge of the field: "Hey, what’s going on here? We agreed on morning delivery, why are you only pulling vegetables in the afternoon? Are you aware that I need to supply vegetables first thing the morning after next? If business is delayed, I’ll have to pay for the losses. Can you afford that?"

The vegetable farmer looked at An Ping apologetically: "I’m sorry, but these vegetables aren’t for you..."

"Not for me?" An Ping was stunned, glancing at the patchy remains of harvested vegetables in the field and asked, "Then where are my vegetables? How do you plan to supply them to me?"

"I’ve already supplied them to you."

"You’re talking nonsense. Where have you supplied them? Those hundred-odd pounds of vegetables, where did you provide them to me?" An Ping became anxious.

"According to the agreement you signed with us, haven’t we always been supplying you with vegetables?"

"I’m talking about now! Right now!"

"I’m sorry, Mr. An. We can’t supply you right now, as we have signed a temporary supply contract with another buyer, and now all the vegetables are for them."

"If you weren’t supplying me with vegetables, why didn’t you say so earlier? Telling me only now, what am I supposed to do?" An Ping bellowed in a fit of rage.

"I truly am sorry for that. We’ve acted in accordance with the contract," the vegetable farmer said and then turned away to address someone else.

In that moment, An Ping seemed to have realized something, no longer bothering to haggle with the vegetable farmer.

He headed straight to the next one.
