Since they were going camping, a picnic was naturally on the agenda.

An Hao made a list and had Qin Jian and Tian Niu go shopping.

There was a store in the sanatorium, and they had everything one could need; Qin Jian purchased everything on An Hao’s list one by one.

The next day, the four of them got up early and set off for their destination.

The location wasn’t very far, about half an hour’s drive away.

Upon arriving, An Hao was immediately captivated by the surroundings as soon as he got out of the car.

It was a vast forest, with the grass just barely covering the feet and sunlight pouring through the leaves overhead, casting mottled shadows on the ground.

Not far from the woods was a small mountain stream, with babbling water flowing down from the mountain, eventually merging into a small lake beside the forest.

"This place is so nice. Once you’re here, you don’t want to leave!" An Hao couldn’t help but exclaim.

"Don’t worry, we have the whole day to enjoy this beautiful time," said Qin Jian as he started unloading things from the car.

They had arrived early, but there were already quite a few people there.

It seemed everyone was fairly young, with university students who looked like they were still in school and workers out on holiday from factories for some relaxation.

In short, it was a relatively young crowd.

Qin Jian and Tian Niu picked a place near the mountain to avoid the noisy group.

The four of them formed their own little group.

Gu Shuangshuang was in charge of accompanying An Hao on a walk, to breathe the fresh air. Qin Jian and Tian Niu were responsible for setting up the tents and arranging the camp.

Qin Jian’s military jeep already had a military tent; on the way, Gu Shuangshuang had also borrowed a tent from Lin Qiushu.

This way, they could camp out as they had hoped, without having to go back.

People of that era had a special sentiment towards soldiers.

As Qin Jian was setting up the tent, many pretty girls gathered around, chattering and trying to strike up a conversation with him.

"Which unit are you from?"

"Your rank doesn’t look low! You must be a leader in the military, right?"

"Sorry, I can’t tell you any of that," Qin Jian replied without looking up as he skillfully set up the tent.

"Soldier brother, can you please look up at us?"

"Soldier brother, do you have a partner?"

"You’re quite handsome. Can we take a picture with you?"

"No," Qin Jian refused coldly.

Some of the girls were discouraged by the rejection and left quietly, but some, with their buoyant nature, did not get disheartened and became even more persistent, "They say the military and the people are one family. Soldier brother, it’s not good to keep such a cold face!"

Qin Jian frowned and continued to ignore them, turning to lay out the picnic blanket on a flat spot.

Tian Niu, knowing the commander disliked being surrounded by people, stepped forward and said to the girls, "I understand what you’re all thinking! But I advise you to give up on our commander! He’s already married!"

The girls, after hearing this, automatically ignored the latter part of the statement and instead became intensely interested in what Tian Niu had said before.

"What? He became a commander at such a young age?"

"Hey, doesn’t he look like the firefighting hero who was on the news a few years ago? I remember the instructor came to our school to give a report!"

"A photo! Hero commander, please take a photo with us!" The girls swarmed around him like butterflies.

From a short distance, An Hao watched this scene with a heart full of frustration, "Can’t even have a peaceful time while camping! I’m going to check it out."
