Chapter 1241: Chapter 1441: Appraising the Value of the Jade Bracelet
On the way, Qin Fen asked Li Junping discontentedly, "Mom, if it came to a fight, I am sure I could beat that woman. Why did you make me let go of An Hao just like that?"
"Are you stupid in the head?" Li Junping raised her finger and poked Qin Fen’s head hard. "You get into a fight with soldiers at the military hospital, what good do you think can come out of it? Have you even considered that your brother’s biological father is the Commander of the military region, and if that girl lives not far from the Commander’s family, her parents’ positions must be high as well. If you stir up trouble, even if your brother and sister-in-law can forgive you, do you think that family would let you off the hook?"
Qin Fen thought about it and seemed to realize that was the case.
"Don’t be anxious, we’re definitely going to get the bracelet back. Come on, let’s pick up the medicine and go home," Li Junping said, pulling Qin Fen away.
On the way back, Yan Huan was worried about An Hao and asked her more than once, "Are you okay? Were those two really the stepmother and brother of the Chief of Staff? How come they seem to be so different from the Chief of Staff in terms of character?"
"There’s a lot going on with the Qin family; trouble follows one after another. You’re not aware of my life, so naturally, you wouldn’t understand my troubles," An Hao said with a light sigh.
"It’s really true! Fortunately, you married Chief Qin. If I had to deal with such a mother-in-law and brother-in-law, I wouldn’t be able to stand it even for a minute! I’d probably be fighting and causing a ruckus every day!" Yan Huan exclaimed.
"How nice it is to be married to Cheng Yue! You won’t have so many worrying issues in the future! Haha!" An Hao laughed teasingly.
"I wish! But that guy..." Yan Huan paused and let out a sigh halfway through, "Forget it, let’s not talk about him. Let’s talk about you. You need to discuss this issue with Chief Qin, so he’s also aware of the good deeds his foster parents are doing."
"He knows. But what can be done about it? As long as it’s not too outrageous, turning a blind eye is enough to let it pass. It’s not like I can make a huge fuss with the Qin family, right?"
"That’s true."
The two chatted as they walked and unknowingly arrived home.
Regarding this matter, An Hao didn’t bring it up to her mother-in-law, Zhang Yun, for fear of worrying her.
However, leaving the issue unresolved was not a solution, so An Hao decided to go out in the afternoon to appraise the bracelet, to see how much it was truly worth. Then, she planned to sell it, deduct the expenses she had previously paid for the Qin family, and return the rest to Li Junping. That way, she would put an end to this matter.
After lunch, An Hao told Zhang Yun she wanted to go out for a walk and buy a couple of outfits for the soon-to-be-born baby.
Zhang Yun agreed and gave An Hao a few words of caution, asking her to be careful and to come back early.
An Hao promised, took the jade bracelet out of the wardrobe, and decided it would be safer to wear it on her wrist, so she promptly put it on and left the house.
In the city center, there was a time-honored Jade Store.
An Hao had passed it several times before and had noticed the store’s owner was a decent man and offered fair prices for the jade.
She had also inquired about him and heard that he had a small reputation in the jade circle; the jade he scrutinized was generally accurately identified in terms of authenticity and valued appropriately.
Therefore, An Hao intended to have him take a look. If the price was fair, she would sell the bracelet.
