Chapter 1220: Chapter 1220: Rumors can wear down metal; Three people repeating a falsehood can turn it into truth
In the following days, the hospital negotiated with the patient’s family.
The hospital took full responsibility for the medical accident, covering all medical expenses and offering compensation to the patient’s family.
After resolving this issue, the hospital leaders, upon review, determined the measures to address the accident.
An Hao bore the primary responsibility for the incident, resulting in the cancellation of her internship qualification, and she was no longer allowed to intern at the affiliate hospital.
The hospital would reflect this incident truthfully in the internship evaluation report submitted to her school.
Ma Mei and Dr. Zhou bore secondary responsibility for the incident, and both were suspended for one month to reflect.
Since An Hao was in the midst of her pregnancy, Ji Chuan did not inform her of the hospital’s disciplinary actions.
He planned to tell her once her condition stabilized.
After over a week of rest, An Hao went to the hospital for another check-up.
The doctor who conducted her examination was the same one as before.
"Your condition is stable! The baby is very healthy! Remember, you should still pay attention, keep your spirits up and stay healthy! Don’t overwork yourself!"
"Okay. Thank you! I owe you a lot for this time..." An Hao said.
"It’s nothing! After all, we were colleagues! We had a pleasant time working together during your internship here! Even if you leave the hospital, come to me and I will still open a back door for you," the doctor said with a smile.
"What? Leave the hospital? Why would I leave the hospital?" An Hao was stunned upon hearing this.
"Ah? Don’t you know? Ji Chuan didn’t tell you? The dean had a meeting and specifically announced the outcome for the medical accident that happened in your department... you, have been dismissed..." The doctor was quite blunt, giving An Hao the news without any sugarcoating.
An Hao’s face changed dramatically after hearing this, and she immediately wanted to go see the dean.
"Hey, don’t get agitated! Be careful with the baby in your belly!"
Having learned from the last experience, An Hao did not dare to be careless this time.
Even though she was very anxious, she continuously restrained herself, reminding herself that she had to deal with the situation calmly.
Now, standing at the dean’s office door, she took a deep breath to stabilize her emotions before knocking.
"Come in!" said the dean.
An Hao pushed the door open and saw that, in addition to the dean, several other hospital leaders were present.
Upon her entry, all their eyes focused on her in unison.
"Dean, I do not accept this decision on how the incident was handled. I disagree!" An Hao declared, looking around the room.
"It’s not something you can refuse to accept just because you disagree," the dean said. "You made a mistake, and you have to take responsibility for it! That is the consensus of all hospital leaders!"
"I am not responsible for this matter! I state solemnly! It wasn’t me who removed the wrong catheter! It was Dr. Ma Mei! I saw it with my own eyes!" An Hao insisted, trying to maintain her composure.
"But everyone involved in the operation with you said it was you! How do you explain that?"
"A lie repeated a thousand times becomes the truth! Surely the dean has heard this saying! What if I tell everyone now that I have seen the dean accept bribes from patients, arranging good hospital wards and surgeries for them? Would anyone believe it?" An Hao finished, her gaze fixed on his face.
"That’s utter nonsense!" The dean exclaimed, rising from his seat furiously and glaring at An Hao, "That’s defamation! You will face legal consequences for saying that!"
