Chapter 1204: Chapter 1204: Regretting One’s Choice
"Doctor! Doctor, come quickly!" Around two or three in the morning, Qin Jian was shouting loudly while carrying An Hao in the hallway of the maternity department.
The on-duty doctor ran over and saw a soldier carrying one of the hospital’s doctors. She promptly asked, "What’s wrong?"
"My wife is showing signs of miscarriage! Please, doctor, you must save the child in her belly!" Qin Jian said anxiously.
"Isn’t this An Hao?" the obstetrician recognized her, "You’re pregnant? How many months? Come on, let’s get her on a bed."
The doctor pushed open the door of the treatment room, and Qin Jian immediately carried An Hao in and gently placed her on the bed.
An Hao said in pain, "It’s been over three months! Everything has been fine until now, it might be because I stood too long today! A full fourteen hours..."
"Ah!" the female doctor said, standing in front of An Hao, "It’s hardest for us female doctors when we’re pregnant! Especially with a major accident today, everyone was so busy no one could care for themselves, all trying to snatch lives from the clutches of the Grim Reaper. You’re just an intern and already this exhausted, let alone the chief surgeon."
"Yeah! We’ve been going nonstop all day today, Dr. Ji from our department is still in the OR! If it wasn’t for my physical condition, I probably wouldn’t be able to leave either." While speaking, An Hao felt the heaviness in her belly worsen.
"Has your condition been good since getting pregnant?" the doctor asked.
"It’s been very good, just today I’ve had these issues!"
"You must be exhausted." the female doctor said while handing a prescription to the nurse, "Let’s give you a shot of progesterone for now to maintain the pregnancy. Don’t go home tonight, just stay in bed and rest observing the situation. We’ll do an ultrasound and check your HCG levels in your blood after daybreak, and if everything’s fine, then it is fine."
"Okay," An Hao nodded and agreed.
"After the nurse gives you the shot, you should rest well here. If anything happens, you can call me anytime," the doctor instructed a few more times, and then left.
The nurse came over with the progesterone shot and gave it to An Hao, who then lay on the bed resting continuously, while Qin Jian sat by her side, keeping her company, "If you’re tired, sleep. I’ll keep watch over you."
"Come up here and lie down for a while," An Hao said with concern, looking at Qin Jian, "You haven’t rested well all day, and you still have training during the day. It’s been tough on you."
Qin Jian stretched out his hand and tenderly stroked her hair, "No matter how tired I am, can it compare to your hardship? Carrying a child and standing for fourteen hours straight at the operating table—if there’s no problem with the baby in your belly, wouldn’t you keep standing there during the day?"
An Hao grabbed Qin Jian’s hand tightly and said, "You know a doctor’s duty is to save lives and provide aid! Moreover, we are military doctors, both soldiers and physicians! Seeing a patient on the brink of life and death, how could we possibly neglect them? That patient earlier, if we hadn’t attended to him, he would’ve died."
"That’s why I was wrong to let you choose the Military Medical University. I should have made you choose Forestry University or some financial university, or even better, not go to college at all, just stay home and take care of the family—how nice that would be!" Qin Jian always regretted the support he had given An Hao when he thought about it.
If he had known it would be like today, he would never have let her go to university.
An Hao smiled and said teasingly, "Then why didn’t you stop me at the time? Perhaps if you had, I really wouldn’t have gone."
"Would you?" Qin Jian felt it was impossible, and moreover, it was good she had her own dreams.
