Chapter 1183: Chapter 1183: Heaven Wants to Destroy Her
"What? You disagree? Why don’t you agree?" An Ping panicked, "Sis, you’ve only glanced at her, you haven’t really gotten to know her! How can you make such a rash decision?"
"An Ping, I understand her better than you do," An Hao’s gaze fell coldly on Niu Shanshan’s face as she slowly uttered a sentence.
"What do you mean by that? You’ve met before? You know each other? Sis, just make things clear!" An Ping stomped his feet in frustration, he couldn’t have imagined bringing Niu Shanshan home would turn out like this.
Niu Shanshan was also shocked by An Hao’s attitude.
Clearly, she had yet to understand what had happened when An Hao dismissed her with a single sentence.
"Why?" Niu Shanshan raised her head to look at An Hao, "We’ve only met for the first time, why do you dislike me so much?"
"Want to know why?" An Hao snorted coldly and slowly said, "Two months ago, outside the ultrasound room at the military district general hospital, someone jumped the queue! What did you say then?"
It was as if An Hao’s words struck Niu Shanshan like a thunderclap.
She suddenly remembered the incident.
She and a soldier were waiting in line when a female soldier arrived and took her place in front of her.
She was indeed very angry at the time, having been cut in front by quite a few people already that morning.
She had been holding her bladder for a long time and couldn’t hold it any longer, so when someone else jumped the queue, she got very angry and said some harsh words.
Was this the woman who had jumped her queue?
Niu Shanshan’s face turned pale in an instant, and her hands began to tremble slightly.
"I... I don’t understand, what are you talking about."
"The hospital? The ultrasound room? What’s that place for?" An Ping was still a young man after all, clueless about many things.
"It’s where you get a prenatal check-up," An Hao replied, and fearing he wouldn’t understand, she added, "It’s where women check the condition of the baby in their womb before giving birth."
"What?!!" An Ping exclaimed in shock, his gaze piercing towards Niu Shanshan, "What were you doing there?"
Niu Shanshan’s mind was in turmoil, thinking she had been seamless in her actions, having gotten An Ping, the silly young fellow, so drunk he insisted on attaching himself to her.
Who would have thought, she had already met his sister earlier on, without even being aware.
It seemed fate was against her!
"Speak up!" An Ping raised his voice and barked, suddenly feeling deceived.
"I... my period was irregular, my mom was worried I couldn’t have children and told me to get checked out. How could I be accused of... of going to check on a baby," Niu Shanshan covered her face and started crying, "An Ping, if your family doesn’t want this marriage, just forget it. Why humiliate me! If word gets out, how can I face anyone!"
"Is what you’re saying true?" An Ping grabbed her wrist tightly, "You didn’t lie to me, did you?"
"No," Niu Shanshan gritted her teeth and held firm.
An Hao jumped down from the kang bed, took a few steps to Niu Shanshan, pinched her chin with two fingers, and said coldly, "Niu Shanshan, look into my eyes and answer again, you didn’t lie?"
"I..." Niu Shanshan saw the fiery anger in An Hao’s eyes; she knew she was done for today, but revealing the truth meant she would have no future with An Ping.
More importantly, if her mother found out that the child in her womb wasn’t An Ping’s, she would stop at nothing to kill her.
How could she give up without fighting until the last moment?
Quickly weighing her options in her mind, she squeezed out a sentence through clenched teeth: "I, didn’t lie!"
