Chapter 1154: Chapter 1154: Pretending to Be Gods and Ghosts
Qin Jian finished tidying up, and glanced outside at the sky, where the rain kept pouring down ceaselessly.
It was already the middle of April according to the Solar Calendar.
Although it wasn’t that cold anymore, it was still quite cool after the rain.
On the way back, An Hao’s clothes got quite wet, and he estimated they wouldn’t dry by tomorrow morning.
It was very necessary to go home today, to bring An Hao a few pieces of clothing and gather some daily necessities.
If it kept raining in the next few days, and the weather stayed bad, he didn’t plan to let An Hao keep running back and forth such a long distance.
It really was terribly troublesome.
"After you finish eating, move around in the room, I’ll head back to my parents’ place and grab a few pieces of clothing for you," he said. With the rain, it was sure to be cool the next day, and he didn’t want her to wear thin clothes and catch a cold.
"Okay. Then you go," she replied.
Qin Jian got ready to leave, and An Hao followed him to the door to see him off.
"Get inside. There’s a draft in the hallway, don’t catch a chill," Qin Jian warned her a few times more.
Then he turned and started down the stairs to leave.
Ruan Fangfang, in the next apartment, heard talking in the hallway. She peered through a crack in her door just in time to see An Hao sending Qin Jian off.
A sudden shock hit her heart; so this man was An Hao’s husband.
He was quite good-looking, and he held a high rank in the military.
Why did all the good things happen to her?
Ruan Fangfang felt indignant. What did she want right now? No man, no job, no money, and on top of that, living at the mercy of others.
This damned life.
Despite her hate for An Hao’s excellence, if given the chance to swap lives with her, she would be quite willing.
An Hao closed the door and returned to her room, while Ruan Fangfang also closed her door, sitting alone in her room, fuming.
An Hao was completely unaware that the person living across from her was her colleague Ruan Fangfang.
As Ruan Fangfang stewed in her irritability, An Hao stood at the window with a cup of water, admiring the heavy rain.
Suddenly, with a crack, a huge bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, followed by the rolling sound of thunder.
An Hao was startled; she hastily closed the window and retreated back inside.
Then, the power went out.
The room was pitch-dark. An Hao felt her way around in the dark, looking for a candle.
After a long search, she couldn’t find one.
So, she simply lay on the bed and didn’t move, quietly watching the rain outside and waiting for Qin Jian to come home.
She figured lightning must have struck and burnt through a line, causing the power outage.
In the neighboring apartment, Ruan Fangfang was pacing back and forth, bored to death. Ma Mei was on the night shift and wouldn’t be back until ten, Hen Zhiyuan was God knows where, not at home either.
Only she was alone in the dark room, unable to sleep and unable to do anything else, utterly restless.
Throughout the afternoon, as it rained, the scene of Ji Chuan escorting An Hao home replayed in her mind.
It made her feel even more unsettled, wishing it had been her being escorted instead of An Hao.
Thinking of An Hao, a sinister thought popped into Ruan Fangfang’s mind.
If this woman was alone at home, and if she were a coward, that would certainly be fun.
She had always been annoyed by An Hao anyway, so she might as well take this opportunity to scare her a little, to teach her a small lesson.
Remembering the games she often played in her childhood, she lit a candle, stood in front of the mirror, and smeared lipstick and an eyebrow pencil all over her face.
Then she put on a white dress, let her hair down, and messed it up carelessly.
When she looked at herself in the mirror, she even startled herself.
She was very satisfied with the effect.
She was not afraid of not being able to scare An Hao.
Ruan Fangfang was all prepared. She rummaged through the drawer, found a flashlight, quietly opened her door, and walked into the hallway.
