Chapter 1126: Chapter 1126: Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-law Face Off

"Is this okay?" Li Junping asked with her mouth, while her eyes fixated on the large, round tomato, her hand did not hesitate to pick it.

As she picked, her eyes still darted around the vegetable garden.

Mother and son alike, neither of them noticed An Hao standing not far away.

"Hey, those small spinach plants over there look nice! I’ll pick some extra to bring back, so I can make dough drop soup for you guys in the next few days," Li Junping said with a smile.

"Pick less." Qin Fen objected to his mother.

"What? Can’t even eat a few spinach leaves? Are you worried that the An family father and son won’t be pleased?"

"What are you talking about? If we take back too many vegetables, they won’t be fresh after a while and we’ll have to throw them away! Better to take less, come back after we finish, and eat fresh vegetables every meal," Qin Fen said.

"You young people have such useful brains," Li Junping, carrying a basket, moved towards another greenhouse.

An Hao looked on with a bellyful of fire.

She was about to go over and say something when she saw her father An Shuchao already heading over.

"Sister-in-law coming over?"

As Li Junping was about to stoop down and dig up a couple of spinach plants, she heard An Shuchao’s voice and turned to smile at him, "Relative, we’ve run out of vegetables at home, so I came over to pick some."

"Sure, eat, eat!" Since she had brought it up, An Shuchao didn’t have the heart to stop her.

No matter how you looked at it, the two families were connected, and Qin Fen was his foster son. How could he refuse her few vegetables when she came over with a basket?

"Thank you, relative! Actually, with such a big garden of vegetables, if you don’t sell or eat them, they’ll just go to waste anyway, don’t you think?" Li Junping took advantage of the situation and played innocent.

An Shuchao smiled awkwardly and said nothing.

An Hao then walked over, stood in front of Li Junping, and said with a lift of her lips, "Mom, you’re here."

Li Junping was startled to see An Hao, her expression became unnatural, and her speech stumbled, "An... An Hao, you’re back! It’s not even the weekend or a holiday. Why do you have time to come back?"

"Vacation." An Hao’s eyes drifted to the vegetables in Li Junping’s basket, "Mom, you’ve picked quite a variety of vegetables. How are they? The vegetables from your own garden taste good, don’t they?"

Li Junping shifted her body slightly, hiding the basket to one side, "It’s alright. I haven’t eaten them that much anyway!"

"Oh! I get it," An Hao said with a smile, "If you want anything else, just pick it all at once!"

"Huh?" Li Junping was taken aback, not expecting An Hao to say such a thing, "What do you mean by that?"

"Nothing really. Did you know? You can take more vegetables." An Hao’s face held a smile, "I don’t know if Qin Fen said anything to you, but there are rules in our vegetable garden. All employees who enter cannot just pick these vegetables willy-nilly. They are all accounted for by cost."

"You begrudge me a few bites of your vegetables, right?" Li Junping put the basket down on the ground with a thud and turned to leave.

"Then take care. I won’t see you out," An Hao said.

Li Junping didn’t actually intend to leave the vegetables; she was just making a gesture.

But An Hao wasn’t being polite with her.

When An Hao said to leave the vegetables, she really meant for her to leave them there.

Li Junping couldn’t swallow this insult. She walked a few steps, then turned back and said, "An Hao, to be honest, how have I treated you these past two years?"

As soon as An Hao heard this, she knew Li Junping wanted to dredge up old grievances: "Then you tell me, how have I treated you? How have I been to the Qin family these past two years?"
