Seeing the room tidied up so spick and span by An Hao made him feel very comfortable! He lay down on the kang and comfortably fell asleep for an afternoon nap.

After An Hao finished cleaning in the kitchen, An Shuchao followed her and said, "My good girl! An Ping really has his eye on a girl! But he’s tight-lipped and you can’t get a word out of him! Since you’re not leaving these days, give him some good advice on this matter! We An Family must find a reliable daughter-in-law! Otherwise, there’s no peace at home."

"Mm." An Shuchao nodded, took out his tobacco pipe, and drew a couple of puffs, then urged An Hao, "You should also take your marriage with Qin Jian seriously. You ought to have kids, after all, you’re not getting any younger."

"I know, Dad! You go rest outside!" An Hao wiped her hands and pushed him out the door, adding, "Dad, I brought gifts for you and An Ping; they’re on the table in my room. Will you go see if you like them?"

In the afternoon, An Hao went to Qin Family’s home carrying two boxes of pastries, two bottles of wine, a box of tea, and a big box of cookies.

Qin Jian wasn’t home, so as his wife, she had to make sure the gifts were presented properly.

Upon entering Qin Family’s home, she found the yard cluttered and disorganized, with Li Junping and Qin Ru Hai bending over, tidying up.

A babbling toddler, neglected by everyone, was running around the yard in thick cotton clothes. He tripped over some clutter on the ground and started crying loudly.

An Hao’s heart ached when she saw this and hurried to put down her things and picked him up, "Did the baby get hurt? Don’t cry, baby!"

Exhausted and with a sore back, Li Junping turned when she heard someone comforting the child and saw An Hao.

"An Hao! You’re back? Where’s Jianzi? Didn’t he come with you?" Seeing An Hao, a smile spread across Li Junping’s face.

"Mom! Dad!" After greeting them, An Hao said, "Qin Jian is busy with the military work and couldn’t come back! He specifically asked me to come and check on you after I came back."

"Good! Good! Our Jianzi still has us in his heart," Li Junping said, nearly bursting into tears.

"Nowadays, pastries and cookies are sold in the city, and many people buy them! They taste quite good, so I bought some," An Hao explained with a smile.

"You’re such a good daughter-in-law. Not like that Song Yueqin..." As soon as Li Junping mentioned her, she heaved a deep sigh.

"Mom, let’s not talk about those upsetting matters today! The problems didn’t develop in a day or two, and they won’t be solved in a day or two either. It’s no use getting upset and harming your health over it," An Hao interjected.

Li Junping took the child from her, asking An Hao to take off her shoes and warm up on the kang.
