Chapter 96: Chapter 83 Dispelling the Mess, Heading North_2

Hill glanced at him and followed the direction of his raised chin to look to the left: that beautiful lady, with the arm of a much older noble, was strolling among the tents.

"Doesn’t she know the Earl is all right?" Hill was somewhat surprised, "And that I would come?"

"Just the daughter of a lesser noble family that has never even been to the Capital, reputed to be smart and capable," Manton said disdainfully. "If it wasn’t for the Earl’s help, how could I have suffered such a loss?

That poison she provided forced me to become a Knight.

Even the Earl didn’t expect her to be so useless.

As for now!

She simply doesn’t understand how quickly a Grand Knight’s body can recover.

A Grand Knight who can live up to 150 years, just how robust their body is.

When she heard that the Earl’s spine was broken, that he was heavily comatose and bedridden, she cried and ran off, never visiting again."

Hill looked at Manton’s stern face and said nothing.

By this point, no amount of scheming was useful; only strength was true.

The guards at the entrance of the Earl’s tent, upon seeing Manton bring someone along, let them in directly without announcing their arrival.

Hill looked sideways at Manton, who said unchangingly, "The Earl’s trusted aides are either dead or injured, leaving only those from my side to stand guard."

Hill felt like asking if the butler’s two sons were still alive.

Upon entering the tent, a rotten smell was immediately apparent.

Hill frowned and looked at the butler who hurriedly came to meet him: "What’s this smell? Didn’t you clean the Earl?"

"Lord Earl’s entire body has been medicated," the butler, who swallowed his greetings, could only explain: "This medicine is quite precious and can only be changed every few days.

We can’t buy any decent medicine through the Mages responsible for deliveries, so it’s fortunate that you’ve come," he persisted.

Hill scoffed and didn’t bother with him, turning his head to Manton instead: "Have someone clean the Earl and apply the medicine I brought.

And the drinkable medicine, you go and administer it."

Manton smiled and turned his head to call the guard at the door.

The butler quickly, cleverly said, "I’ll go clean the Earl."

Through the low-hanging bed curtains, Hill saw the Earl lying motionless.

Watching the butler prepare to leave with a water jug, Hill directly summoned a wave of water into the nearby bath tub.

The butler blankly put down the water jug he was holding, just starting to say, "We need hot water..."

When he saw steam faintly rising from the bath tub water.

He shut his mouth and took the towel to start washing the Earl.

Manton laughed coldly several times out loud.

Someone outside relayed a message: "The Countess wishes to go in to see the Earl and also to meet with Baron Polanio."

Hill glanced at Manton who turned and went out.

Soon, there were sounds of a woman’s loud reproaching cries and Manton’s deep voice of restraint.

Hill had never involved himself in their disputes before, and there was even less reason to do so now.

He just watched as the butler diligently washed the Earl, feeling quite serene inside.

Manton quickly came back in, and after the butler had wiped the Earl down three times, Hill took out a medicine chest and handed it to Manton.

"The potion on the left is for ingestion. The ointment on the right is for external use," he said succinctly. "The rest you can keep for yourself."

Manton nodded, called someone to pull the butler away, and proceeded to apply the medicine to the Earl himself.

The butler, with his head down, slowly edged closer to Hill: "I’ve heard that Young Master Hill has become a Magister, truly unimaginably powerful!"

"Please address me as Baron Polanio," Hill said indifferently, "I have been separate from the family for a long time."

The butler nodded helplessly in agreement, then slowly moved away.

Hill’s medicine was very effective; once Manton had applied it all over and fed the Earl a bottle of potion, the Earl awoke.

He opened his eyes and saw Manton, struggling to sit up: "What medicine is this? I thought I was going to die."

"It’s an Alchemy Potion brought by Hill," Manton replied. "Even without this medicine, you would at most have lain for another two months. You wouldn’t die, Earl."

Count Pelast looked up at Manton upon hearing this, then turned to look at Hill standing at the door: "I never thought you would come back to see me."

"A Mage would not owe a life debt," Hill answered. "I might not come next time."

"I know nothing about Mages," the Earl said stiffly. "I hear you’ve become very strong."

"Yes, I have a great grandfather," Hill replied.

"That’s good too," the Earl suddenly said. "This way, even if we all die, the Pelast bloodline will not end."

Upon hearing this, Manton, without any attempt to hide his contempt, grimaced and said, "That won’t happen; even if I die, Edgar will live well. After all, the Countess has already found a suitor."

The Earl gasped heavily, gritted his teeth, and asked, "Who?"

Hill looked at the Earl, who showed no sign of doubting Manton’s words, and truly felt it was absurd.

The Earl seemed to know his wife quite well!

"Lady Sarna’s brother, Marquis Fein," Manton said with almost a laugh.

The Earl’s rage, which was about to erupt, was stiffly retracted by himself.

Hill touched the corner of his mouth, being careful not to let it curl up too obviously.

Living off his two sisters, Marquis Fein seemed to be having a rather comfortable life!

Life really is a cycle!

Seeing Manton’s expression of having his vengeance fulfilled, Hill heartily agreed.

Manton continued, "The Countess was just outside, clamoring to come in to see you and take a look at Hill.

Should we invite her in now?

After all, she is the lady of the house!"

The Earl glared at Manton almost viciously, "Tell her to go back!"

He looked at the butler, who was trembling at the side, "Bring Edgar over!"

Hill frowned slightly, glanced at Manton, whose expression had turned sour, and said, "Since the Earl is fine now, I should be going."

"Wait, leave after you’ve seen your little brother," the Earl commanded.

Hill said disdainfully, "Why bother seeing someone I don’t recognize?"

Hill turned and left the tent, ignoring the loudly protesting Count Perast.

Truly a match made for each other, these two!

The Countess was already standing outside, tightly holding a child, waiting.

Unfortunately, Manton’s attendants had arrived and were firmly blocking them from Hill’s carriage.

Manton followed out and said to Hill, "Let’s go. Don’t worry about these matters; they never had anything to do with you."

Hill nodded, exchanged a quiet farewell with Manton, and thought that they probably wouldn’t meet again after this.

Hill could feel the watchful eyes around him, he glanced sideways at the several mages hiding in the shadows of the tent, his Natural Consciousness was constantly warning him of the deep hostility emanating from over there.

Hill scoffed coldly in their direction, "If you dare, make a move!"

Hill was sure he wouldn’t show mercy to those scum.

Unfortunately for those without even an Archmage among them, they could only utter curses from the shadows.

Hill got into the carriage and drove in the direction of those people.

Watching them scramble into the tents in panic, Hill turned the carriage into an airship and quickly ascended.

As the tents were swept up by the wind and waves, with the people inside cursing loudly, Hill casually unleashed an Earth Splitter.

Those swallowed by the earth should learn to maintain their manners in the presence of a high-level mage.

Hill never understood why Fran had spared these people, and even Adrian forbade Hill from laying hands on them.

Hill had asked Adrian if perhaps Fran had owed a favor to these people’s elders when he entered the Saral Court, otherwise, why would he take such poorly gifted individuals as pupils.

Adrian seemed not to know the reason either.

But he still instructed Hill not to bother with these few people.

Perhaps there was something Hill didn’t know, but since they were foolish enough to be disrespectful in Hill’s presence, then Hill could give them a lesson according to mage traditions.

Hill didn’t pay attention to the several Archmages who rushed towards him, and his airship soared away.

Let them save themselves slowly!

Hill’s Earth Magic would certainly leave a deep impression on them!

It seems that not a single member of Edward’s family came out to deal with Hill, apparently, they were all aware of Melanie’s situation.

No one came looking for discomfort.

Hill stood at the bow of the ship, feeling relaxed and at ease.

The matters of the Pelast Family were now completely unrelated to him.

Whether or not Manton’s display of remorse was genuine, Hill had no intention of dealing with him again.

He wasn’t interested in discerning the truth behind his half-real, half-fake words.

The constant reminders from his Natural Consciousness were enough of a headache.

For Hill, the real adventure in the wilderness was what mattered most.

The wind gently blew as he flew northward.
