Surviving The Fourth Calamity -
Chapter 83 - 74: Adrian’s Actions
Chapter 83: Chapter 74: Adrian’s Actions
Although he spoke lightly, Adrian flew directly to Hill’s Domain after leaving the study.
Ever since Hill informed them that William could directly connect to his communicator, Fran and the others had become more cautious about their conversations.
Although it was partly because Hill’s mobile Magic Tower did not have high defensive power, William’s abilities had already surpassed many pre-divine deities. At least, such things had never happened before.
Fran estimated it was due to the widespread Undead Tribe that carried the Divine Power of the God of Time and Space. Moreover, there were churches that could amplify divine power; in Saral Country, William’s abilities were already akin to those of deities.
Communications within Saral Country were temporarily paralyzed. If there was confidential information, it was better to speak in person.
No one wanted to test whether William could overhear communications from high-level Magic Towers.
Fran made a special trip back to Obastian, advising them to be cautious when sending messages.
The only fortunate thing was that his own Magic Tower was still safe. Every element within the tower belonged to the Tower Master himself, and Fran felt particularly fortunate about his decision to build the Magic Tower.
The Magic Towers in Obastian had the Saral King as their Tower Master.
These state Magic Towers, contracted before the Pantheon and witnessed by the world’s consciousness, would be completely destroyed when Saral Country vanished.
It was evident without thinking; those towers held no secrets in front of William.
Luckily, before leaving, Hill also paid a huge price to upgrade List to a Legendary Tower Spirit.
This was originally to guard against possible attacks. If anyone dared to attack Hill, whose Magic Tower was right next to Fran’s, the enemy would undoubtedly be very powerful.
Thus, even though upgrading to a Legendary Magic Tower involved daily consumption of a large amount of magical power, and the Great Magic Circle would burn crystal stones once activated, Hill still gritted his teeth and ensured this safeguard for himself.
Luck played a major role, Adrian mused while flying in the air. Elemental creatures had peculiar ways of thinking; to convene a leader, a lord would go to great lengths to create a fissure into the human world.
As a result, Hill gained an advantage. The Earth Elemental territory beneath him had already formed an Earth Elemental ore vein, something that had been expected to happen in ten years at the earliest.
The leader even quickly connected the core power of the ore vein directly to the Magic Tower.
Hill’s Magic Tower was now not far inferior to Fran’s.
The Magician profession, blessed by fate, was enviable to the point of madness. Adrian felt a tinge of bitterness; as long as he stabilized during the Magister stage, Hill’s ascension to Legendary status was assured, unlike himself, uncertain about his future.
Hill had always had quirky ideas, inexplicably insisting on having a balcony outside the study.
Seeing that a Legendary Magic Tower did not really lack that bit of defensive power, Fran didn’t interfere.
It did save the hassle of using an elevator.
He spotted List, already waiting on the balcony outside the study atop the tower, and descended.
"Good day, Mr. Adrian." List bowed slightly. "I hope it is good news."
"I’m not sure if it is." Adrian said quirkily. "For me and the teacher, it is. But Hill might find it troublesome.
Count Pelast suffered a severe injury from a Magical Beast attack."
"He’s not dead yet?" List blurted out.
Adrian shook his head in response. "It seems there’s no need to worry about Hill having any problems."
List chuckled foolishly. "Mr. Hill really dislikes him."
"He is close to nature, certainly he dislikes such a dark-hearted person." Adrian said. "When he contacts you, just tell him. Do you think he will go?"
"He definitely will. But he has to assess the situation first." List’s voice was slow. "If he can save him, Mr. Hill will. But if it requires a significant sacrifice on his part, he might reconsider."
"Hill has a peculiar sense of morality." Adrian said. "Perhaps it’s related to the Heart of Nature. I’ve never seen a Wood Elemental Spirit follow a human before.
Even Half-Elven Druids struggle to gain recognition from Wood Elementals."
"He has already repaid the family split funds." List answered. "Saving the Count’s life again would repay the debt of life as well. Mr. Hill is very meticulous about cause and effect."
Adrian shook his head. "Just like nature favors cycles. Let him be; he is not a child anymore and knows how to handle situations.
For mages as well, we must repay the debts we owe on the path of magic. It affects our advancement to Legendary status otherwise.
A Magician is still a mage with bloodline heritage. It’s better to owe nothing, even giving a little extra."
List nodded. "Mr. Hill should be approaching Cortez now. He will certainly contact me in a few days."
Adrian laughed. "I wonder if his journey will be interrupted."
List shook his head. "Unlikely. For Mr. Hill, this is a trivial matter, not enough to affect his journey."
Adrian walked to the balcony. "This is convenient, but only feasible in a domain with no outsiders, like his."
Turning to List, who was seeing him off at the door, he said, "If you are sure Hill will go, inform him.
I avoided using the communicator to prevent others from forming opinions if he decides not to go."
List nodded.
Adrian took off and suddenly remembered, "His Majesty the King is about to officially announce the completion of the capital relocation. According to news from the Undead Tribe, after advancing on Haifasardo, he plans to continue summoning more Undead.
This time, the numbers will be even greater. Whether the deities will protect Haifasardo remains uncertain. Tell him to stay away from Haifa for now."
"Yes, Mr. Adrian. I will certainly inform Mr. Hill."
Adrian nodded and flew off.
Fran, standing in the study watching Adrian return with a relaxed demeanor, knew he had gotten satisfactory answers from List.
It seemed Hill was indeed mature enough; List, who knew him best, must have assured that he would go to see Pelast.
He could despise Pelast, but at least on the surface, he had to be a good person.
Fran lightly pursed his lips; living in the domain of a Neutral Good deity, neutrality was best, but at least outwardly, one had to lean toward goodness.
However, Hill had always been gentle and considerate; preventing him from being overly kind was the real concern.
Even if he was an atavistic nature spirit, he should be more like an Earth Bear, not a Nature Elf.
Fortunately, he grew up under the education of mages, thus possessing a greater degree of rationality.
Fran did not regret Hill awakening as a Magician and thus not being able to become Adrian’s successor.
Everyone had their own fate; mages accepted their fate but never submitted to it.
Moreover, Hill’s path as a Magician had become very smooth, with the involvement of the God of Time and Space.
Although it might take a bit longer to reach Legendary status, a magister who could live for ten thousand years might find that Legendary was not even his ultimate destination.
Just like those who had already sought future paths in the starry sky, this was Fran’s aspirational goal. On the path of a mage, he was still very young and did not need to prepare an escape route for himself.
Grinning, Adrian came in. "Teacher, List said Hill will definitely go to see if it is easy to rescue. Then it would be best. It would repay the debt of life.
Hill will definitely reach Legendary status."
Fran nodded. "Has he reached Cortez now?"
"He should be at the border."
"Haifasardo will certainly broaden his horizons."
Adrian laughed heartily. "The country that the Mage Association least wants to station in. Even Saral now cannot compare."
"It will cease to exist in the future." Fran said faintly. "His Majesty truly avenged his ancestors."
