Surviving The Fourth Calamity
Chapter 485 - 283: Ready and Departing, Hill

Chapter 485: Chapter 283: Ready and Departing, Hill

Fran initially didn’t want to take anything from Hill.

He wasn’t lacking in money, so why take his grandson’s possessions?

But looking at Hill’s anxious face, Fran still nodded in agreement, just to ease the child’s mind.

Sure enough, Hill, who was able to help his grandfather, looked a bit more composed.

Fran went straight to the warehouse. In Hill’s Magic Tower, most places were open to him, so he didn’t need List to guide the way.

But Hill still sent List along: the oak tree’s relic fragment no longer needed to be kept secret; what the deities knew, his grandfather could certainly know too.

Although the half-plane inside the fragment had been refined with divine power, there were still many things to see.

Hill himself felt he had gained a lot.

Fran had already sensed the laws and aura of the half-plane last time; Hill believed that his grandfather would definitely gain a lot of insight.

So as long as it existed, Fran would surely find it.

It was a good opportunity to see how the most adept Goddess of the Earth refined half-planes.

Hill had already realized last time that the method of refining half-planes by Legendary Mages wasn’t as advanced as tens of thousands of years ago when the Goddess of the Earth did it.

When Fran last visited the Magic Tower, he had doubts about the unusual quantities of elements in Hill Valley.

But he didn’t ask Hill; he didn’t have the desire to probe into everything. He had many secrets he wouldn’t reveal to Hill, so he would never ask Hill to tell him everything.

Hill didn’t know whether Fran would inform him before leaving. This Alchemist Master was entirely capable of leaving quietly.

So he might as well show him; in the future, it wouldn’t belong to Hill anyway.

Fran said nothing and spent full seven days inside the oak tree before leaving.

Upon departure, his face showed obvious satisfaction; the method he had prepared for refining half-planes could now be more complete.

Hill stood on the terrace of the Magic Tower, seeing him off.

Seeing Fran solemnly bid farewell, Hill knew his grandfather would likely leave silently.

Hill could understand. Fran was most worried not about the difficulty of traveling through the stars but about ambushes along the way.

So even Fran himself didn’t know which day he would choose to leave.

Perhaps someday, something major would suddenly happen in the world, and Fran would quietly depart.

Hill stood quietly on the terrace, seeing off his last remaining family member.

Though a slight sadness lingered, he spoke his blessings for Fran word by word.

Bless him with all good things, bless him with a smooth journey, bless him to go further on the paths of magic and alchemy.

List appeared beside him, saying Fran had taken only some water materials and a few earth element ores.

Among the water materials, he had selected a few rare ones.

For earth element ores, after confirming Hill could transform them himself, he took a lot of obsidian and marble, and some special nourishing soil. Hill felt he was preparing for the half-plane, probably looking for clues in the starry sky.

No news came from Adrian’s side. Hill suspected Fran hadn’t told him anything.

He likely didn’t want to put any pressure on him.

After all, Legendary status couldn’t be hurried; it would only make success more difficult.

Hill gathered his spirits and began designing the Main Temple for Agleya.

Upon confirming Fran’s imminent departure, a sense of urgency set in for him as well.

He didn’t know when he himself would leave, so it was best to handle some matters promptly.

List watched Hill busily drawing blueprints, packing various materials into a pendant, even storing the crystal flowers. He couldn’t help but speak up, "Sir, could you upgrade Srei to the highest level and let him manage the Magic Tower? I want to go with you."

"I will come back," Hill soothed him, "My current space is too small without a half-plane, forcing you inside would be too unfair."

"But how long will that take?" List asked, bewildered, "My purpose for existing is to accompany you. If you leave for too long, I will be lonely too.

On the contrary, Srei and the others, with less emotional depth, might cope better."

Hill pondered for a while. Due to the World Will’s reward, List had become quite humanized.

Other Tower Spirits each had their personalities, but most were due to settings, without considering why they acted or spoke a certain way.

List, however, would contemplate much more.

So Hill retrieved Srei from the store and replaced him with an ordinary High-level Tower Spirit.

With multiple upgrades from Hill, Srei was now much stronger than a typical High-level Tower Spirit, especially essential for dealing with the Undead Tribe. Unlike ordinary Tower Spirits, Srei was flexible and quick-thinking.

Using many Legendary materials, Hill upgraded Srei to High-Rank Legend.

Though not as powerful as List, he was no weaker than Diamant.

Moreover, unlike List, who was lively and friendly, Srei had fewer emotions. He would only loyally follow Hill’s commands and carefully manage Hill’s territory.

The oak tree, worried that Hill might leave it, had been working hard to separate its internal space during this time.

After asking Hill whether he minded if the Sun, Silvermoon, and the Earth saw inside his territory and receiving a careless response, the oak tree planned to place this space inside the mountain at the back of Hill Valley.

This way, the Elemental Treants wouldn’t lose a favored place, and the oak tree wouldn’t lose the chance to follow Hill.

Hill agreed with this approach.

In fact, he genuinely wanted to return the oak tree to the Goddess of the Earth, but the relic fragment refused to become a subsidiary of the World Tree Artifact again.

Used to its free days, it didn’t want to lose itself again.

Once everything calmed down and Agleya was satisfied with Hill’s blueprints, the one-year appointment with the Earth Bear, Aurelio, was at hand.

The oak tree had turned into a green tree pattern on the pendant necklace Hill wore. List also moved into the little house inside the pendant, happily preparing food and drink for Hill every day with his beloved chef puppet.

Noticing his strength had increased significantly, Hill had a peculiar premonition.

Luckily, Agleya had grown some more, now occupying half the ocean.

She didn’t plan to drive out every last adversary in the remaining half; she had directly sent the Undead Tribe there.

Proudly, Agleya said to Hill that the sea monsters would soon realize that compared to worshipping her as the Sea God, the Undead Tribe was the real torment.

Hill found her approach satisfying. Rather than waste a lot of divine power, taking an alternate path was indeed better for Agleya.

After all, the most valuable parts of the ocean were already in her hands. She could take her time with the rest.

Agleya mentioned that although she had selected several suitable large vortices, she wanted to wait.

If the world fully healed, the ocean would change too. She wanted to wait for that time to choose an eternally stable super vortex.

Hill found this sensible. Since he had already given her the blueprints, Agleya could build a similar structure in the Divine Kingdom and slowly modify it during the waiting period.

When the time was right, she could then construct the most satisfactory Main Temple.

Hill wasn’t sure if Agleya could stay in touch with the World’s End, so he told her about the possible occurrences.

Though Agleya wasn’t thrilled, as a Law God of this world, she couldn’t prevent Hill from doing what was beneficial for the world.

Realizing Hill hadn’t informed Alice, a self-satisfied Agleya agreed. Even if losing contact occurred after Hill reached the World’s End, she wouldn’t go crazy causing trouble.

She did emphasize, though, that if contact were truly lost, she would observe the area from beyond the starry sky.

Hill merely insisted she stay clear of getting caught in the elemental turbulences, ensuring she stayed away from the breach.

Hill knew that Agleya’s childlike dependency had significantly diminished and she wouldn’t act rashly. As long as she promised to behave, Hill was reassured.

Having arranged everything, Hill filled the bottom of the Magic Tower with crystal stones.

In the future, Srei was to store a fifth of the received crystal stones in the warehouse as a reserve, sending the rest underground.

With Agleya around, the valley was relatively safe, yet Hill still wanted a backup plan.

That year, Hill produced and sold many good items in the store, trading them for a large number of crystal stones, filling two space rings.

Magical Plants weren’t suitable for the World’s End; staying long-term in Hill’s pendant would be too lonely for these intelligent plants, so Hill left them in the valley.

Only the demigod vine didn’t mind leaving a branch with Hill, considering it a controllable, discardable part that, once lost, would only downgrade it to a Legendary plant.

Flying in the sky, Hill glanced at his territory one more time. From age 16 until now, over ten years, this had been his home.

For the first time, he felt a premonition that he would be away for an extended period.

Turning away, Hill brushed off any lingering reluctance. No matter how long it took, he would return.

Upon reaching the triangular area where Central City stood, Hill descended underground directly.

With the wind series boost, his flight speed was exceptionally fast now.

Even if people knew it was him, it was hard to ascertain where Hill intended to go.

Once underground, it became even more impossible to track him.

When Hill arrived at the underground island, Aurelio had yet to arrive.

The glow of the crystal moss above still cast a faint, cold light. He felt he wouldn’t have to wait long.

But the Earth Bear arrived half a month later than Hill had expected.

Thus, when he saw that huge head appear in the cliff wall, Hill felt an unaccustomed surge of joy.

Then he realized Aurelio had come from the north.

"Have you been waiting long, Hill!" Aurelio’s thundering voice boomed, "The ocean battle was so chaotic I couldn’t leave! I had to detour from the north, through many Human Kingdoms, and got stuck in the array defenses in many places. I took a long time, almost got lost!"
