Surviving The Fourth Calamity
Chapter 422 - 221

Chapter 422: Chapter 221

The Junior Mage looked at Hill with a puzzled gaze, honestly lowering his head to register this odd task for him.

News of Hill’s assassination attempt had not reached here yet, and this task left him baffled.

But he had a sense of who this person was, so there shouldn’t be any problems. Besides, as long as the Undead Tribe had something to do, that was fine.

Adrian immediately turned his head, frowning as he looked at Hill.

Though Hill was a Nature Warlock, he certainly was not a paragon of virtue who harbored the greater good.

Something must have happened.

He walked down and inspected the mines Hill had chosen.

Hill had selected all the most fundamental large mines, such as those for iron and copper.

There were also some with ores that played a neutralizing role.

Although they seemed inconspicuous, they were indispensable materials for forging weapons and armor.

The Dwarves could tolerate a shortage of copper and iron; in the Dwarf Kingdom, not only were there these large mines, there were also many small copper-iron mines.

But these neutralizing mines were rare; if they were destroyed, the Dwarves would go mad.

Hill, planting flowers on Dwarf Territory, how could they possibly serve only a decorative purpose?

If it were someone ignorant, they wouldn’t feel anything even upon seeing it.

Hill hadn’t chosen the pricey Crystal Mines or the gold and silver mines either.

But Adrian, who understood Alchemy, could see at a glance that if the Dwarves were short of stock, and anything happened to these places, most Dwarf foundries would be forced to shut down next year.

After the King of Saral declared war on the Dwarf Kingdom, although the Human Kingdoms did not engage in the war, they all obediently cut off trade with the Dwarves.

No matter how much they coveted the Dwarven weapons and armor, none would be foolish enough to provoke William.

The Undead Tribe, too skilled at finding things.

Hill was aiming to sever the lifeblood of the Dwarf Kingdom!

Those Dwarves, they actually weren’t directly confronting the Undead Tribe.

Instead, they were biding time, sacrificing the lives of the lower-class Dwarves.

Although it was not clear what they aimed to do, William’s recent commands were all about forcing Dwarves to emerge from underground to fight the Undead.

Apparently, something made William feel that the Dwarves couldn’t be allowed to hide underground and protract the battle so easily.

Hill, though always expressing his contempt for the Dwarves, was not someone who would actively harm any life.

He always responded only with counterattacks.

"What happened?" Adrian couldn’t help but ask Fran, "Teacher, you can’t hide it from me if something’s wrong with Hill."

"He was once assassinated by a Dwarf," Fran said calmly, "It was a bit dangerous, but Hill wasn’t hurt. It’s just that his Cloud Ship is ruined."

"The Cloud Ship whose defensive strength could almost be compared to that of an Advanced Magic Tower?" Adrian asked in surprise, quickly scanning Hill.

"I’m fine," Hill said with a reassuring smile, "In this world, no one can ambush me. Not even the deities."

Adrian’s face turned grim: "But it must have been very dangerous. Hill, you should go back to your territory sooner!"

Fran and Hill would not have withheld from Adrian the news of being ambushed by Dwarves.

But they had to tell Adrian face to face; if it were through the communicator, not seeing Hill unharmed, this emotionally sensitive lad would definitely start inquiring everywhere.

William might not proactively tell him anything, but if Adrian asked, he wouldn’t conceal what happened that day.

Adrian knew his abilities were limited, he would never recklessly go to meet his death, but he would certainly be very angry.

Sometimes, anger can cause one to lose reason.

But upon seeing a safe Hill, his focus would definitely no longer be on what had happened that day.

He would instead be intent on rushing Hill back home.

"I’ll go back once I handle the task," Hill said with a smile, "I take this matter very seriously."

The Junior Mage pricked up his ears, hearing the conversation of the others.

He understood that although the task seemed tedious, it must definitely be detrimental to the Dwarves.

For William’s loyal subordinates, this was too good to be true.

After all, the King was anxious about how to drive out these ’underground rats’!

Though the Junior Mage could not comprehend where the task’s lethal point was, he believed the King, having seen it, must be very clear.

The Junior Mage quickly got everything arranged and dashed out to set up the task.

This Nature Warlock had always been generous, and the Undead Tribe was quite willing to take his jobs.

"If what’s here is of help to you, you can stay a few more years," Fran steered the conversation back.

Over so many years, this was the first time Adrian felt like he had found his direction, and Fran was only worried he wouldn’t stay long enough.

"I know," Adrian said with a smile, "If I’m willing to stay a few more years, His Majesty the King would be thrilled. That person on top of the Magic Tower, he’s truly terrifying. If everyday affairs were left to him, probably not even dogs would stay here."

Fran’s expression twisted for a moment: "He’s managing things? What can he manage? Isn’t he the one who hates being disturbed the most?"

"It’s nothing major," Adrian said with a peculiar look, "The Mage Association’s ship arrived with three Legendary individuals. One Legendary Law, and two just making up the numbers."

"They wanted to meet His Majesty the King to express their thanks,"

their attitude was very firm.

They even rushed into the Lord’s Mansion without permission.

"Fortunately, I was in the Magic Tower and intercepted them. Otherwise, it would have been too embarrassing for me if they had stormed in when His Majesty the King was not present."

Fran and Hill both understood that this was an attempt to display their strength to His Majesty the King, hoping he would interfere less in their affairs.

Otherwise, William had already arranged everything for them, in consultation with Draculus.

Ordinary mages, without a serious matter, would not choose to meet the king, especially a king who also serves as the Divine Pope.

"His Majesty the King was not there, yet they insisted on seeing him. Between the lines, they suggested the King might be looking down on them," Adrian said with a sneer, "Thankfully, I’m the city lord. Although I’m a magister, I have two legends backing me up. I might have been impolite, but at least they didn’t dare to humiliate me.

They’re very rude to ordinary officials; they even injured the guards who tried to stop them from barging into the Lord’s Mansion directly."

Hill uttered, "Aren’t the King’s Guards taking care of the security work now?"

"Exactly," sighed Adrian, "that’s why he came out. The Captain of the Guard went directly to request his presence."

"Ended badly, I presume?" Fran inquired, "He loves to use the maximum force for the smallest tasks, he must have activated a Magic Array. How did that turn out?"

Hill looked at Fran’s face, brimming with interest, and grinned along.

It was too damaging when that Mr. Holmes took action during the time in Obastian.

He didn’t like being disturbed, so he was sure to use the most powerful force to eliminate any unstable factors.

Over time, he also acquired the tranquility he most desired. The old Saral couldn’t afford to repair what their own legend destroyed.

Except for critical matters of life and death, no one dared to ask for his intervention.

Even when William’s two foolish brothers caused so much trouble, he could sit steadily in the Magic Tower, not lifting a finger if no one requested his presence.

Of course, that’s also because the Noble Church stirred up a lot of noise but never shook the foundation of the Saral Royal Family.

Holmes despised that family of fools; he truly didn’t wish to bother with them.

But the current Central City isn’t afraid; the reconstructed buildings are sturdy enough.

And the ordinary residences haven’t been repaired yet! Holmes can be as destructive as he desires.

And although Fran’s Magic Array has undergone countless tests in the laboratory and its power is indeed formidable, it had never been seen in real combat!

No wonder Fran looked so curious.

His own array used against an annoying person was simply delightful.

"Very strong," Adrian said with a complex expression, "It’s my first time seeing his power as well. The Law of Corruption is truly terrifying! Holmes, knowing he couldn’t fight against three legends, directly used the Magic Array that could amplify his power by five times.

The outcome was tragic.

I would rather be burned or sliced with knives.

It’s nothing that some Legendary Defensive Gear was destroyed, but the robe was completely torn.

Gray-green scars covered their faces and bodies; it’s unclear how much effort it will take to heal them, as those are injuries caused by the Law.

They went to the Forest Array, the effects are slow."

"What kind of failure? Are members of the Undead Tribe there?" Hill, unbothered by the other details, asked about what really mattered.

"It’s the Undead Tribe that taught them, saying it’s very popular ’hole-filled gear’ where they are," Adrian’s mouth twitched, "I don’t believe they could wear that out where they’re from."

"They must be males, right?" Hill said unperturbed.

"Males revealing three points are even more terrible, okay?" Adrian exclaimed passionately, "They lose face, I hurt my eyes!"

"Don’t worry, the Undead Tribe like to record," Hill consoled Adrian, "you only hurt your eyes once, but those three will be embarrassed for hundreds or thousands of years."

Adrian paused abruptly; he always forgot the Undead Tribe’s virtue of sharing joy.

"As long as no one died, that’s good. Didn’t Draculus come over afterward?" Fran said dispassionately.

As long as the ones embarrassed weren’t people he cared for, Fran always disregarded such matters.

His Majesty the King returned as well," Adrian’s expression was indescribable, according to Hill.

His Majesty the King told the chairman that if they couldn’t abide by Saral’s rules, they’d better find another place to stay. Holmes did nothing wrong; attacking the King’s Guard unprovoked was already a provocation towards Saral. Not dying was already Holmes demonstrating some consideration for others.

The chairman’s expression wasn’t very good, but he held back.

Frankly, they deserved it.

I had no intention of intervening; that gentleman, despite his harsh methods, had no intention of killing.

I had no right to interfere.

Later, it was Spencer who rushed out to grab Mr. Holmes’s hand, begging him to show mercy, or else the mage would have continued enjoying himself! He even thought about flying outside the city to provide the assembly of magicians with a set of hole-filled gear.

Spencer pleaded desperately, mentioning there were many ladies around, which finally made Mr. Holmes stop and return.

Before he left, he even praised the Undead Tribe’s girls for being worldly, stating that’s the true color of a professional."

Hill blinked.

Did they censor it?
