Surviving The Fourth Calamity
Chapter 170 - 21 The Cause of the Beast Tide_2

Chapter 170: Chapter 21 The Cause of the Beast Tide_2

After ten thousand years of companionship, their affection was profound.

However, for humanoid creatures, whether humans, dwarves, or elves, the lake water that enabled their survival was more revered than spring water.

The Goddess of the Spring, already harboring jealousy, gradually lost her balance after the Goddess of the Lake repeatedly expressed her intention to awaken the even greater Sea God.

The strongest deities of the Water Element would only rise from the ocean. This was declared to them by the world rules from their birth.

But the Goddess of the Spring, having been worshipped and sacrificed to for ten thousand years, couldn’t even tolerate her own sister growing stronger than herself, let alone the slumbering Sea God.

Yet the simple-minded Goddess of the Lake failed to perceive the change in her sister and even fell in love with the Wolf God.

This future God of the Earth, who in that era was only a demigod capable of changing between the form of the Howling Moon Wolf and a human, didn’t see any issue with it – after all, she herself had transformed from a giant Water Ball.

The two of them loved each other deeply and the Wolf God endeavored to spread his faith. As the future God of the Earth, once he ascended to the starry sky, he might awaken not just the Earth Deity System but also the Moon Goddess, who had been in eternal slumber within the moon.

The awakening of the Wolf God could very well be the contingency plan of the sleeping Earth Goddess and Goddess of the Moon from hundreds of thousands of years ago.

Meanwhile, the Goddess of the Lake, with her lover, strove to awaken the Sea God.

But they both forgot that not all deities wished to see the rise of three powerful God Systems.

The God of Nobility, though resentful, merely sowed discord as one of the human deities.

It was only the Goddess of the Spring who, seeing her sister’s future brilliance and realizing her own status would certainly diminish, truly took action.

In the wilderness, there were many half-gods of Earth Attribute, but the Wolf God was simply the strongest among them and many demigods submitted to him.

After all, they were beasts and didn’t really understand how to acquire faith. However, the Goddess of the Lake taught them.

During that era, there weren’t many humans or dwarves. They had only just established their kingdoms, and the elves, with their own faith, paid no attention to other races.

Already finding the path to godhood extremely arduous, the demigods of the Beast Tribe wavered under the Goddess of the Spring’s instigation.

The Beast Tribe’s desire for power was even harder to control, and soon some demigods rebelled.

Indeed, although the actions of the Goddess of the Spring were malicious, the world consciousness did not punish her.

It wasn’t until the Wolf God and the Goddess of the Lake once again united the magical beasts of the wilderness and prepared a ceremony for the Wolf God’s ascension to the starry sky that the envious Goddess of the Spring, having lost her senses, colluded with the Great Demon Lord who had just noticed this world.

Compared to the human deities, the demigods of the Beast Tribe loved this land even more. After the Goddess of the Spring opened the Abyssal Gate on the ley lines, the demigods, in order to protect their homeland, were forced into a desperate battle.

The elves and dwarves had always been indifferent observers, for other than some dwarves who loved minerals, these two races preferred to worship their own Racial Gods.

But the Goddess of the Spring had only started the process. Once the Abyss grabbed hold of a world, there would be more than just a few gates opened in the wilderness.

Like the Six-Armed Serpent Demons that the players killed, who were only junior commanders guarding a relatively small Abyssal Gate.

The demigod guarding this place introduced himself in the Divine Script as the Gale Wolf, who served under the Wolf God and regretted nothing in death.

During that era, a great number of Abyssal Gates were opened.

The elves and the dwarves were quickly engulfed in the flames of war, and their deities had no choice but to join the battle.

When the Goddess of the Spring realized the severity of the situation, she hid within the Divine Kingdom.

She left a complete mess for her sister and the Wolf God to deal with.

The Gale Wolf wrote in agony: "Our noble Wolf God, in the end, shattered the Divine Fire with his beloved Goddess of the Lake to restore the earth and purify the Water Element. Yet, we have forever lost him.

"I do not wish to live on a land that has no future. I have decided to delve into the Abyss and fight the enemy to the end, using my life to barricade this accursed gate.

"But we won’t be in this world anymore, and it’s very likely that the greatness of the Wolf God and the Goddess of the Lake will be erased by those contemptible people. That’s why I leave these steles behind, hoping that those who read this in the future, regardless of their race, would vindicate my deities."

Hill, holding the papers tightly, felt his heart roiling with emotions. How could the Goddess of the Spring have the audacity to come out and accuse the God of Nobility just a few days ago?

The God of Nobility was in the wrong, which is why he didn’t lift the veil of that spiteful goddess.

Every deity likely knew about the God of Nobility’s instigations, so even the Gale Wolf wrote it down in the text, but in the end, it was only the Goddess of the Spring who truly took action!

As the first king of humanity, the God of Nobility, with his once great talent and breadth of vision, was worshipped by humans and nearly monopolized all human faith. During that period, nobles were also the leaders who guided humans through hard times.

However, the God of Nobility’s original pursuit of justice and brightness gradually faded from his teachings, and perhaps it was during this time that he slowly slid into evil.

That’s why later deities who ascended to the starry sky divided the God of Nobility’s worship amongst themselves, and no wonder he became more and more insistent on the priority of the nobility thereafter.

The world consciousness is fair but rigid, only recording the spiteful act of the Goddess of the Spring and the consequences of that one time.

The numerous Abyssal Gates that the Great Demon Lord from the Abyss opened later were probably not blamed on the Goddess of the Spring, leaving her a slim chance for survival.

With the complicity and help of the God of Nobility, the Goddess of the Spring somehow managed to survive to this day on the faith of humans!

There were more demigods than just the Gale Wolf who died, and not every one of them had the same rationality as him.

The hatred of so many demigods has led the world consciousness to forbid the deities from appearing on earth again and filled magical beasts with a vengeance against humans.

Even the elves and dwarves, who were merely spectators, would be attacked as well.

It’s just that the elven realms have a lot of nature systems, which can somewhat calm the magical beasts.

Hill looked at the messy translation on the paper and finally steadied his mind, deciding to recopy it with care and seriousness.

He no longer planned to let Fran take over; he was going to have the players deliver the message.

Hill intended to put it in a fancy little box and have it sent to William.

The sealed letter might even tempt the players to try every means to peek inside.

Hill felt that William might not even need to receive the letter to know its contents.

He wrote every word with meticulous care, making sure it was clear and understandable, fearing that the players’ translation feature might fail.

After finishing his writing, the moon was high in the sky.

Hill called List out and asked if there were any players in his domain.

He was surprised to hear that Snow Cloud Peak and Perfect Bald were all there, with no plans to leave, staying in the hotel.

Hill thought they might have heard Old Cat’s bragging and knew that many mages would come in a few days, hoping for an opportunity for a big mission.

Hill handed the box to List: "Please ask Mr. Snow Cloud Peak to deliver this box to His Majesty the King.

Ask my grandfather to seal everything related to the deities in a box; His Majesty the King might send someone to fetch it."

Hill didn’t know what decision William would make, but he believed that the enmity between the God of Time and Space and the God of Nobility could never change.

Hill pinched the window sill, looking up at the moon in the sky, recalling Mother Earth from his dream, his heart filled with melancholy, these two’s fallback strategies were way too open and aboveboard!

He wondered if there was still a chance.

List appeared and told Hill: "Mr. Snow Cloud Peak has taken the mission and went directly to His Majesty the King via the teleportation array.

I’ve asked around, and all the teleportation arrays inside Cortez and Haifa’s territory have been repaired."

Hill raised an eyebrow: "Does that mean His Majesty the King is returning to the Capital?"

"His Majesty the King plans to first inspect the southern border of Cortez. After arranging the defenses there, he will return to the Capital.

The Undead’s statement in the proclamation given to them says that the demons will emerge on a large scale in 3 months."

"The Alchemy Workshop should suspend all other production and focus on producing those Frost Bombs!

Buy Holy Water from the Black and White Path territories; I want to see if we can imbue the Frost Bombs with the Holy attribute."

Hill believed that with the current multitude of players, the demons could not reach Saral, but he had to make full preparations.
