Chapter 139: Chapter 8 Heading Towards the Abyss_2
Hill shook his head, wondering if he had lost the knack for understanding players’ thought processes.
He summoned a leaf, inscribed on it "Earth in position," and let it float directly in front of Snow Cloud Peak, fluttering softly.
Snow Cloud Peak reacted swiftly, grabbed the leaf, glanced at the words, and happily bounced twice on top of the cart.
Hill watched as he tapped on his tablet, but among the players, no one split off to leave.
However, the mages began to stir: within the ice walls, they had erected an earth wall.
The demons watched disdainfully, and while the players were distracted by building the earth wall, they pounded fiercely on the ice walls.
Hill finally understood: they were worried about everyone leaving—the place was so hot, what if the ice melted and flooded into their territory!
Hill felt a bit dazed, thinking that if this city held up, it might actually become popular! Ah, the exterior walls of the fountains!
Hill quickly commanded a few earth elementals to go help; those hideously twisted and lopsided earth walls, they hurt his eyes just to look at them.
"Perfect Bald! Where are you!" Snow Cloud Peak shouted, "Take Hill’s earth elementals and find a few support points! Don’t tell me your college education was for nothing!
Everyone else, hold on a second, don’t get crushed by your own walls before the demons even attack!"
Hill, seeing the small figure bouncing out, smiled and instructed the earth elementals to listen to his commands.
"Luo Sanquan! Romance! Sui Chen!" Baldy called out, "How can I figure this out by myself in such a short time? Come over and help me quick!"
Is this a case of like attracting like? Just one shout and three Captain of Light level players specializing in earth construction respond?
But this was all decided on the spur of the moment!
Hill felt he was constantly snarking, a pity there was no one around to share it with. He looked at the innocent beech tree, thought of the talkative element lord, and ultimately, restless, he began pinching his pendant to communicate with Srei.
"Sir," Srei said reluctantly, "are you thinking of following the players into the tunnels? Absolutely not! You only have one life!"
"I didn’t say that," Hill firmly denied.
"Every time you find such an excuse, it’s because you want to go outside," Srei declared assuredly. "If you really do that, I’ll desperately try to contact List—Mr. Adrian is still waiting there!"
"No, absolutely not," Hill denied three times in a row, "Really, I won’t! I’ll stay put for sure."
"You’ve said yourself there are too many undercover players," Srei concluded. "Isn’t it better to stay hidden?"
Hill felt wronged, he really hadn’t thought about it at all! How could they mistrust him like this?
He reluctantly put down the pendant and returned to peering through the branches to watch the players fix the wall.
Having many hands really helped! The kilometers-high wall was fixed up so quickly. If you didn’t consider its appearance, that is.
Hill’s earth elementals, after the arrival of the earth element lord, dared not bubble up in Hill’s mental sea, but now they couldn’t help complaining: such an ugly wall, absolutely nothing to do with them!
Hill could only comfort them that once the players left, they could slowly fix it according to their own will.
After all, after the players finished this ugly wall with its three gates, they had already started setting it on fire: truly a breath-taking maneuver, the demons were genuinely frightened this time.
Unable to bear it any longer, he sent another leaf, smacking it on top of Snow Cloud Peak’s head: Water mages could perform Ice to Water!
Water to Ice, Ice to Water is an innate talent, not a skill. For mage level players who have learned Freeze, they would have definitely unlocked this talent.
Hill had once thought they only used Freeze because they looked down on the slow speed of Water to Ice, but it seemed they were completely unaware.
Otherwise, why would they need defensive magic arrays! Whether it’s an earth wall or an ice wall, anything of the same element can be built up or taken down!
Snow Cloud Peak grabbed the leaf, looked at it, glanced back, and smilingly called a water mage over, asking a few questions.
Finally, he picked up a loudspeaker, "I’m not of the water element, so I don’t know the skills. What do you learn after switching to water? Overwhelmed by loneliness?"
"Don’t know how to use ’Ice to Water’? Huh? Open up the talent page and hurry up, get it out and use it!"
Hill watched as a bunch of mages placed their hands at the gate and began casting spells, only to be happily smashed to death by demons that instantly broke through the wall.
"Where are the knights! Block it quickly!" Snow Cloud Peak shouted furiously, "Are you blind? Can’t you see the wall is about to break? Your deaths are in vain!"
No, they just thought turning ice into water was fun. Hill answered for the players: He had already seen the resurrected water mages, who were grinning as they tossed around water balls, turning ice into water back and forth, comparing who could do it faster and whose water ball was bigger!
Snow Cloud Peak roared, "Who the hell melted all the ice below? Sky Knights! Jump over there and hold it! Earth mages, while there’s still some ice left, hurry up and build a bridge! Do I have to teach you hand in hand?
If you need me that much, hand it over here! I don’t mind touching it a few times!"
In the midst of chaos, after hundreds of lives were lost, finally, the bridge was fixed, the knights held their ground, and Snow Cloud Peak’s carriage charged out through the gate.
Hill stood up and stared intently as the players were about to reach that entrance.
The Sky Knights advanced step by step holding their great shields to that spot, acting very normal; shields up, waiting for the mages to clear the flying demons in the sky.
Hill noticed Snow Cloud Peak’s carriage, parked right beside that location. Unless someone was watching from a high place like Hill, it was impossible to notice that the swordsmen following directly behind Snow Cloud Peak’s carriage were disappearing one by one at intervals.
After all, there were still many swordsmen, who charged behind the knights fearlessly leaping and drawing their swords — and, of course, never returning, being directly ripped or burnt to death by a mass of demons.
They held that position for a full half hour, until the flying demons in the air were nearly all killed off, before they could continue pushing forward.
Another kilometer ahead, past this hall, lay a wide tunnel. However, even the widest road seems like a winding path when set against an army of several hundred thousand. The long line of players took over an hour to disappear from Hill’s sight.
Hill watched in silence as the Water Elemental Lord followed Snow Cloud Peak’s carriage and left, so he could only sit quietly. Snow Cloud Peak had left behind about 3000 swordsmen, 500 mages, and 100 priests.
The priests were interspersed among the mages as they descended. So, did the swordsmen have any skill that would prevent them from dying in a fall?
But it could only be effective for a short time or it was quite troublesome, otherwise, they wouldn’t have fallen to their deaths.
Hill touched the tip of his nose, thinking that he would need to look at the introduction of the swordsmen when he got back.
Fenmo Wuxin didn’t set out with the others; she stayed behind to be in charge of defense in the territory.
After all, this was still Black and White Path territory, and the Lord’s Mansion needed someone to hold the fort.
Hill watched as the girl loudly instructed people to seal up the city gate first and then tried to communicate with the Earth Elementals. She was hoping the Earth Elementals could process those areas needed for the Defensive Magic Array engraving.
Even though the Earth Elementals preferred to smooth out the entire city wall, Hill still asked in the Mental Sea for them to listen to Fenmo Wuxin’s commands first.
The girl saw the unwilling Earth Elementals change their attitude so quickly. She reacted swiftly, turning towards the direction of Hill’s forest with a big smile, and gave a light bow as well.
Though there were many Earth Mages following her, the innate skills such as ’Turn Mud into Earth,’ which belonged to Earth Elementals, were incomparable to any human mage, and the efficiency and effect of the skill were fixed, making it even more unattainable for players.
Fenmo Wuxin seemed to understand why the Earth Elementals were dissatisfied with the wall and quickly made arrangements. The Earth Mages stood apart, trying their best to smoothen out the wall, then waited for the Earth Elementals to inspect the work.
Hill did not bother with these matters; after all, among the many Scattered Ones who remained in the territory, quite a few had already made their way into his small forest.
Though Snow Cloud Peak had arranged for guards on the perimeter of the forest before he left, there were still too few of them. The players who were willing to give up the great battle and stay here were not many.
Quite a few people slipped through their defense.
With many players, there were surely no issues, but with fewer players, it all relied on individual conscience, it was impossible to be alert at all times, with ears hearing in all directions and eyes watching every side.
Hill focused his Spirit and communicated with the Beech trees to partition a few areas. These players would be taken care of with just the leaves of two trees.
Resources shouldn’t be wasted, precision was needed.
From machine-gun firing to precise AK shots, a bit of skill was necessary, and Hill was excited.
Watching players slowly fumble below the trees, trying to uncover Hill’s whereabouts, Hill closed his eyes, "Second one on the left, go!"
