Surviving The Fourth Calamity -
Chapter 132 - 5: The Collapsed Tactics
Chapter 132: Chapter 5: The Collapsed Tactics
Hill quickly saw a ring of Sword Masters appear behind the Sky Knights and opened his eyes wide in surprise.
Before the players appeared, he had never seen so many high-level Swordsmen, which is why Hill often overlooked the skills of this profession.
Hill watched with interest.
The Swordsmen all took their stances, their left hands on the hilts at their left waists, and with Snow Cloud Peak’s voice hoarsely shouting, "3, 2, 1, draw," they swiftly pulled out their long swords with their right hands and shot angrily towards the base of the ice wall.
Then, the Sword Masters quickly retreated, and another batch of Sky Knights took their place. Counting the seconds, Snow Cloud Peak shouted again, "Flying Shield!"
The rising speed of the ice wall was held back by the drawn swords for about 200 meters; just as the speed started to slow, it was pushed up rapidly again by the great shields flown up from the hands of that batch of Sky Knights.
With a heavy collision, the ice wall reached the top of this underground hall.
With the persistent flow of water rapidly catching up, and with continuous freezing sounds from the Water Mages, the erupting underground river water was once again frozen into a tall ice wall.
Hill watched helplessly as the two sections of the ice wall were connected together by a dense mass of long swords and giant shields.
The elliptical ice wall tightly enclosed the land, leaving the demons to attack the ice wall in vain.
Most of the demons, like Hill during the construction of the ice wall, stared dumbfounded. They helplessly watched as humans created an unbreakable ice wall right before their eyes, which made some of the demons almost crazed with rage, nearly pressing themselves against the ice wall trying to breathe fire on it.
The Priests quickly ran up and began casting Purification Spells around the ice wall.
Hill saw Sister Hua chattering away, blending in with a group of people, standing in front of the ice wall giving directions.
Then Hill covered his eyes with one hand; for those who had painstakingly memorized Array Diagrams, the sight was a massive insult.
The players, holding tablets, cast huge Purification Arrays and Defensive Magic Array diagrams onto the ice wall, with some lying on it, following the diagrams as they carved.
Rain Falling on Mortal Dust wielded the Fireproof Array diagram in his hand, leading some people to rush up. They circled around the others, arguing noisily, as if calculating the best points to add the fireproof magic array.
Lowering his hand, Hill twitched the corner of his mouth as the players who were supposed to be drawing were now blaming each other, shirking responsibility.
"It was just a little shake of my hand" and "if you have a problem, you do it" almost gave Hill the illusion of seeing the spam on a screen.
Hill sighed and chose to look elsewhere. As an Alchemist, it was a bit hard to watch.
The Knights who had been supporting the operation for a long time had begun to sit and rest, or had gone to eat. The Swordsmen continued to patrol the territory, wary of rogue demons sneaking in amidst the chaos.
The Water Mages, who had been tired for a long time, were now resting on the spot, clutching their Mana Potions and drinking heavily.
Once replenished, they called a Water Elemental and cast Freezing Spells on the ice wall; drained of mana, they sat down to rest and wait for cooldowns.
Hill saw Sister Hua leading a few people with a carriage to bring food to the Mages.
Over 10,000 Water Mages in the span of one hour had summoned more than 100,000 Water Elementals.
The Water Elemental Lord took charge of these Water Elementals and led them to reinforce the ice wall.
Suddenly, Snow Cloud Peak spoke up: "Water Mages! Are you rested yet? If so, freeze the ceiling solid for us, thicker than that wall if possible!"
Hill became sharply alert and swiftly communicated with the Beech. With the ceiling solidly frozen, it would cover the tree bark, and Hill wouldn’t be able to see the outside for a short while.
He saw the Swordsman walking around the great tree and decided to say, "I will now automatically attack those with hostile intent."
"Why’s that?" The Swordsman became excited, "It’s hard for us to snatch a kill, and this is the only place we have a chance!"
"Didn’t you hear the command?" Hill felt his mouth twitching again, as if it might cause trouble sooner or later, "I don’t want to see bodies flying everywhere. I will only start observing the outside again once they all come down."
"Ah! Is that what they meant by reinforcements arriving soon?" The Swordsman put a hand to his forehead and looked up, "Geez, that’s interesting! I wish I could have been outside!"
What’s good about that? The thrill of a bungee jump from tens of thousands of meters?
With a noncommittal tone, Hill said, "Please notify the others!"
Scratching his head, the Swordsman hurried off in a stride that nearly suffocated Hill, to spread the word.
You have tablets! Tablets!
Hill almost believed he had shouted out loud.
Well, that’s very player-like.
Hill heard Sister Hua’s furious roar: "Do you fucking know how to send a message? If I hadn’t stopped you, were you planning on running to the command post? Do you realize how many clan leaders are there? Does Black and White Path even care about their reputation anymore?
Get rolling smoothly! I’ll send the message!"
"What joke is Sister Hua making? When has Black and White Path been so strong? And since when do we still care about face?" The Swordsman slipped back into the woodland as he muttered softly.
It wasn’t long before Snow Cloud Peak sent someone over. Sister Hua approached Hill’s great tree and knocked politely, "Mr. Hill, could you possibly move your tree? We’ll station guards outside the woods, but we’re still concerned about stealthy infiltrators.
Your location might have been compromised."
Hill had known all along that these players were very adept at undercover tactics; in a large gang like Black and White Path, it was impossible to check everyone. Information leaked like a sieve, nothing remained secret for a minute.
