Surviving the Apocalypse: All I Want Is to Find a Husband -
Chapter 55: Love Bug
Chapter 55: Love Bug
After signing the contract, Lucian decided to return to the Red Canyon before sunset. Richard seemed disappointed because he thought his cousin would stay longer.
However, he wasn’t able to convince him to stay.
While the sisters let Medeia choose some women’s clothes to take home, Lucian had a conversation with Richard.
"Why don’t you stay here tonight?" Richard tried to persuade him, "It’s not like your base is going to collapse if you don’t come home today, is it?"
Lucian laughed softly. "Thank you for your kind offer, but I have to deliver the water supplies to Coalhaven and War Stock tomorrow," he said with a sigh, "They’re hard to convince, aren’t they?"
Other than the Junk Garden, the things Coalhaven and Warstock owned were more valuable, so they must have wanted Lucian to make a higher offer than Stormclad.
"Well, most of them act like barbarians, so it wouldn’t be easy to work with them." Richard patted him on the shoulder, "But what are you worried about? No matter how difficult they are, they won’t dare to fight someone stronger than them. You just have to show your strength, that’s all."
Lucian smiled. "You know I don’t like to show it unless it’s urgent."
"You could do that before because you were alone, but now you have a lot of people counting on you." Richard shifted his eyes to Medeia, who was trying on a pink coat. "Especially her. I know you treasure her a lot, Lucian."
"She’s just my companion."
"Companion my ass." Richard scoffed at him, "I can see the way you see her. You seem to worship her with all your heart. That’s so fucking weird."
"What’s so weird?"
"When you were at the top of your career, you had a long, very long line of fangirls. Most of them were even as beautiful as goddesses, but you were never attracted to them!" Richard clicked his tongue. "I almost thought you weren’t attracted to women at all."
Lucian, "None of them could make me feel as comfortable as she does. Besides, Medeia is more beautiful than any of them."
Richard narrowed his eyes. "Man, I think you’ve got the love bug."
Before Lucian could say anything, she heard Medeia’s voice from behind him. "Lucian, I have the clothes I want! Let’s go back!"
Lucian turned around immediately, smiling. "Okay. You can wait for me in the car and just leave the bag. I’ll carry it for you."
Medeia put the bag down and waved to Richard and his sisters. "Bye, Richie! I hope you get a real wife someday!"
Richard’s mouth twitched in annoyance. "That bitc—beautiful goddess." He breathed a sigh of relief that he could make a nice safe or his cousin would strangle him to death.
"All right, I’ll go now." Lucian gave him a quick hug. "I’ll visit you later."
Richard: "You can come here as often as you want. Oh, by the way, I think it would be best if you find a new name for your alliance before you make a deal with the others."
Lucian pulled away from the embrace and nodded thoughtfully. "I will discuss it with Medeia."
He sighed. "What a great husband."
Lucian only smiled in response. As his eyes wandered around the room, he happened to spot an old Polaroid camera on the shelf.
"Richard," Lucian pointed to the Polaroid, "do you mind if I take it with me?"
Richard followed his fingers. "You want that old thing? Sure, take it if you want. No one’s ever used it anyway." He gave a casual wave. "But the Polaroid film is old, so the photo quality can’t be that good."
"That’s okay." Lucian smiled sincerely. "As long as it can take a picture, it will do for me."

"What took you so long?" Medeia buckled her seatbelt as Lucian got into the car.
He put the bag in the back seat, then started the car. "It’s really hard to get away from my cousins."
"Your family’s really nice. Seraphine even let me take a lot of nice clothes." Medeia smiled slightly. "I bet your parents and brother are just as nice as they are."
From Lucian’s manners, Medeia already guessed that he came from a good father and a loving mother.
She murmured, "It must be nice to know them before the apocalypse."
Medeia had never known the warmth of family. In Hell, other demons were too afraid to talk to her, while her husband was such a shit all the time. That was why she sometimes envied humans who had a big, happy family.
Lucian, "Then, I would think of you as my little sister if we met fifteen years ago."
Medeia looked at him in horror. She had never thought about their age gap because her consciousness was as old as time. But for Lucian, she was only a 24 years old young woman.
No wonder it was hard to seduce him! He must be afraid people would accuse him of pedophilia!
"Lucian," Medeia reminded him, "I’m a grown ass woman."
"I never said you’re a kid."
"And I don’t want you to see me as your little sister."
Medeia was even older than his parents and grandparents, so there was no way she could be his little sister.
Lucian raised an eyebrow, a soft smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I never consider you as my sister," he said, "you are my friend."
That ... those words were making her sick!
But at least the word ’friend’ was better than sister.
"Well I guess that’s good to hear," she muttered.
After making sure that Tian and Simon were ready to go, their cars left the Junk Garden base. Jose led them quietly through the city, honking three times as they left City H.
To break the silence in the car, Lucian started another conversation. "Anyway," he said, "we need to come up with a new name for our alliance. I didn’t think it’s important before, but I think we can make a strong impression on other alliances if we have a name."
"Yeah, I think we need it. I don’t want people equating us with Stormclad." Medeia leaned back. "What kind of name do you have in mind?"
