Chapter 210: Observing The Military Base (1)
Medeia halted in her tracks. She lowered her voice to a whisper. "Can you give me a map of this place?"
[Because this is a classified facility, you’ll need to pay to unlock the full map. Otherwise, you’ll only get access to a trial version.]
The system even had a trial version?!
What a joke.
"How much?" Medeia asked, already resigned to her fate.
[If you’re willing to use C-Points as well, the total cost will be 1,000 gold coins and 1,500 C-Points.]
Medeia quickly checked her bank balance and the amount of C-Points she had.
After weighing the benefits of having full access to the facility’s map, she concluded that the price was actually pretty cheap.
However, she wasn’t about to say that out loud because the last thing she needed was for the system to jack up the price.
"Okay, I want to purchase the map."
[Withdrawing 1,000 gold coins and 1,500 C-Points from Host’s account.]
[Request is being processed ...]
[Ding! Ding! The Map of Metal Cube Facility has been stored in Host’s inventory.]
"Show me the map," Medeia commanded.
A floating screen suddenly appeared before her eyes, displaying a detailed floor plan from the first floor to the fifth.
Medeia clicked through each floor plan, skimming them quickly.
The Metal Cube was divided into five floors, each serving a different purpose:
- First Floor: Security & Screening Zone – The area responsible for checking and processing anyone entering the facility.
- Second Floor: Living Quarters & Basic Amenities – Contained dormitories, bathrooms, a cafeteria, and even a playground.
Each living quarter housed at least three children, and there were fifteen quarters in total within this facility.
Medeia gritted her teeth, realizing that the military must have obtained these children through unethical means, either kidnapping them or producing them by forcing women to give birth.
If that were the case, then didn’t that mean there were also women in this facility?
Her gaze shifted to the other floors as she continued skimming through the map.
- Third Floor: Medical Bay & Laboratory – Likely used for medical treatments, research, or experiments.
- Fourth Floor: Control Room – The command center for managing operations inside the facility.
- Fifth Floor: Restricted Area – Marked as off-limits, yet the floor plan clearly included bedrooms, bathrooms, and a dining area.
Medeia narrowed her eyes. ’So, this is where they’re hiding the women.’
She let out a quiet sigh, forcing herself to stay calm.
She couldn’t do anything without discussing it with Lucian first, so for now, she would have to restrain herself and not act recklessly.
Besides, what was the point of freeing the women if the military would just capture others to replace them?
If she truly wanted to stop this cycle, there was only one option.
She had to wipe out this entire base.
"Do they also get their fuel from Coalhaven, or is there a bigger oil rig they use?" Medeia asked the system.
[There is another oil rig larger than the one in Coalhaven, but the location is extremely difficult to reach.]
"How difficult?"
[At the very least, they would have to pass through a Black Zone Forest.]
If the soldiers in this military could pass through the Black Zone Forest regularly, that meant the experienced ones were far stronger than Garick Holt and his men.
"Which floor should I check first?" Medeia muttered to herself.
Since Lucian was in charge of delivering lunch to the kids, she didn’t need to observe the second floor. Instead, she clicked on the third-floor blueprint, scanning it quickly to memorize the rough layout of the rooms.
The medical bay was located at the center of the cube, while the laboratory encircled the outer edges, connected by multiple passageways.
In other words, the lab was massive, likely housing numerous researchers.
Maybe, just maybe, she could find a way to remove the chips from the children’s brains without killing them.
"The base is filled with surveillance cameras, right?" Medeia asked.
Before entering The Metal Cube, she had noticed the vast number of solar panels and massive wind turbines supplying energy to the facility.
With such a strong power source, it was safe to assume that surveillance cameras were installed everywhere.
[There are cameras in every corner and along every corridor, Host.]
Medeia shifted her gaze upward, spotting a surveillance camera pointed directly at her.
Great.
Luckily, she was wearing a mask, meaning no one would be able to see her lips moving.
She made a quick decision and began walking back toward the restroom.
This time, she didn’t hesitate before stepping inside.
[Have you decided to clean the toilets, Host?]
"Like hell, I would." Medeia scoffed, pulling a camouflage cloak from her inventory.
"I’m going to make them think I never left the bathroom."
She only had 15 minutes, which meant she had to move efficiently.
For now, her priority was figuring out a way to remove the chips from the children’s heads.
Once that was done, she would immediately return to the restroom to maintain the illusion.
Without wasting another second, Medeia threw on the camouflage cloak and slipped out, heading toward the third floor.
Unlike the second floor, the stairs leading up to the third were locked, accessible only to authorized personnel.
But, as luck would have it, someone was on their way to deliver lunch to the third floor, giving Medeia the perfect opportunity to slip inside unnoticed.
As soon as she stepped onto the third floor, she was hit with a strong wave of antiseptic. The smell was overpowering, even more intense than on the previous floors.
And the only color Medeia could see here was white. At least on the first and second floors, the soldiers wore green uniforms, but here?
Here, the entire floor was dominated by researchers in white lab coats, making any other color almost nonexistent.
"Stew meat again?" A researcher groaned as a soldier placed a meal tray in front of him. "I’m getting tired of this. Don’t you have vegetables or something green?"
The soldier responded dryly. "Sir, that’s actually what the General wanted to ask you." He continued, "When will you finally figure out how to make the soil fertile?"
The researcher scoffed.
"We’re still working on it." He waved a hand dismissively. "Besides, this base was built on sand that’s already been infected by flesh-eating insects. Do you really think that kind of land can ever become fertile?"
