Chapter 112: Training From Hell (1)

"Teaching so many people is such a pain in the ass, you know?" complained Medeia.

A week after the meeting, they finally began training everyone on the base to improve their combat skills and weaponry.

Lucian had divided the hunters into two categories: one group was tasked with teaching hand-to-hand combat and self-defense techniques, while the other focused on weapon training.

From traditional bows and arrows to modern firearms, each person was given the opportunity to learn and master a weapon suited to their capabilities.

But they couldn’t train everyone in a single day because there were more students than teachers.

As a result, Lucian created individualized training schedules for each person. However, due to limited resources, the teachers were required to train every day without much rest.

Medeia, as a lazy person, of course didn’t want to teach combat skills that would make her sweat every day. Hence, she volunteered to be in the weapon class.

She even negotiated with the system for days just to avoid teaching in the combat class.

Unexpectedly, the system eventually agreed, but only on the condition that she had to teach a total of more than 20 people in the weapons class.

She thought it would be easy back then.

But it turned out she couldn’t relax in the weaponry class either.

The students were either clumsy, overly confident, or downright careless.

One of them nearly shot an arrow backward, and another accidentally dropped an arrow to his own foot, causing Medeia to freeze in horror.

"Can you imagine?" Medeia grumbled to Naomi, her voice filled with frustration. "We’re working like dogs without getting paid a single penny, teaching those ... ugh, I’ve run out of decent insults to describe them."

"What penny? The only thing left in this world is dust and ruins," Naomi replied dryly. "Money is useless now."

Medeia groaned, throwing her head back dramatically. "What a joy killer. You could at least humor my ’what if’ scenario instead of hitting me with reality."

"Seriously ... you should stop complaining," Naomi sighed, crossing her arms. "You only have three students a day, while I have to teach more than six people in the combat class. That’s literally double the work you have!"

"Lucian is definitely playing favorites!" continued Naomi.

Medeia smiled, leaning casually against the wall. "Favoritism? Please. Maybe, he just thinks you’re better at handling a crowd."

Naomi rolled her eyes. "Or maybe he just wants to pamper his girlfriend so badly that he let others suffer instead."

At first, Medeia didn’t understand why Naomi was assigned to teach in the combat class instead of weaponry.

However, after giving it some thought, she remembered that Naomi was, in fact, exceptionally skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

Moreover, she had an extraordinary healing ability, which allowed her to fight as brutally as she wanted without fear of dying easily.

It seemed like Naomi had spent too much time working on the farm that Medeia had almost forgotten the fact that she was one of the best hunters in Willow Village.

"Oh, I guess time’s up." When Medeia’s internal clock hit 10 minutes, she clapped her hands and shouted to the people sitting near the spring. "Chop, chop! Everyone! Your rest time is over!"

Her students groaned because Medeia wasn’t a gentle teacher and always shouted whenever they made a mistake.

The constant pressure even made Nico almost thrown up before he could shoot an arrow.

"Good luck with your six students!" Medeia mocked Naomi and patted her on the shoulders. "See you later."

Medeia instructed her students to quickly get into position and focus on their form as they aimed at the archery target board.

She walked around, observing each of them closely, offering subtle corrections when necessary.

The bow and arrow was the weapon Medeia mastered most easily, especially since she often used it to shoot the sinners in hell.

However, for those who were not used to wielding weapons, the bow and arrow was very difficult to master. It felt incredibly heavy and required excellent accuracy to hit the target.

"Nico, your arms are shaking." Medeia hit the boy’s arms with a wooden stick. "Are those hands made of bones or noodles? And how many times do I have to tell you to straighten your back!"

"I’m trying!" Nico really wanted to shed tears right then and there. "But I can’t pull this heavy string! Are you sure this is a normal bow?"

"What do you mean by that, boy? Of course, that’s a normal bow."

Medeia was lying.

Medeia sighed as she watched Nico struggle with the bow. "Alright, maybe it’s a little heavier than normal," she admitted. "But that’s good for your training. It’ll build your strength and accuracy faster."

"But, I—"

Medeia cut him off. "But, but, but, monsters won’t hear your excuses on the battlefield. If you can’t even pull the bow, how can you survive?"

"I ... I can use my shield," muttered Nico.

"Then what? Hide inside your bubble forever? What if you encounter a monster that won’t leave until it devours its prey?" Medeia clicked her tongue. "Now, a cat has got your tongue."

[Host, you can’t teach people just by scolding them! You also need to set an example for them!]

’It’s too troublesome. Back then, my minions followed my words perfectly without any issue.’

[That was because you always threatened to throw them into a hot cauldron if they slackened.]

’Don’t you think that method is quite effective? Should I prepare a hot cauldron for a dumb student?’

[No! Absolutely not! The system will drain your points until you beg for mercy if you use threats to teach people!]

’Beg for mercy my ass. Someday, I’ll be the one who makes you regret everything you’ve done to me!’

[Is this a threat, Host?]

’No, my dear system. It’s just an expression of affection, often used by people who share a close relationship. We’ve been getting closer day by day, so I’ve become more comfortable using these kinds of sentences with you.’

[Really? The system is happy to be one of Host’s closest friends!]
