Chapter 453: The whole country knows the truth.
"Yes," Tanya responded, holding up a folder. "We have the DNA test results here, verified by two independent labs."
Another reporter asked, "What will happen to Tim Clayton now?"
"He is currently a fugitive," Attorney Santiago answered. "Authorities are tracking him. Multiple charges are being filed."
"And Carla? What happens to her now that she’s not a Cartier?" another voice called out.
President Saul took the mic again. "That is for the courts to decide. But rest assured, justice will be served."
"Is it true then that Carla is the one responsible for Mrs. Summer Cartier falling into a coma?" another reporter asked sharply. "Does that mean she knew Tim Clayton was her real father and was colluding with him to harm the very family that cared for her?"
The President’s expression darkened. With a firm voice, he replied,
"Yes. Carla harmed my daughter, Summer, and I will not let that go unanswered. I’ve already filed a separate case against her and Tim for the crimes they committed against both my daughter and my granddaughter, Rain. Every detail will be presented and addressed properly in court."
The press room fell into a tense silence as President Saul Cartier continued with conviction.
"I want to reiterate and make this very clear to the public," he said, his voice steady and unwavering. "Rain is the biological daughter of my daughter, Summer Cartier, and Arlan Cartier. She is the rightful heir to the Cartier and Watson names."
He paused briefly, then added, "The necessary legal steps to correct the official records and restore Rain’s true identity are already in motion. The documents are being processed to reflect the truth, she is not Rain Clayton, but Rain Watson Cartier."
A wave of murmurs spread through the crowd of reporters before another question was shouted, "And what about Carla Cartier? What will happen to her identity?"
President Saul’s eyes narrowed slightly. "From this point on, she should be addressed correctly as Carla Clayton, Tim Clayton’s biological daughter. She is not, and never was, a member of the Cartier or Watson family. It is both illegal and dishonorable for someone with her record, and who so heartlessly harmed my daughter, to continue using the family names as if she belongs to us."
He turned briefly to his lawyer, who nodded in confirmation.
"I will not allow a criminal, especially one who conspired to bring down the very family that raised her with love and trust... to tarnish the legacies of the Watson and Cartier names. The law will take its full course. This press briefing is over."
The President then stood, offering no room for follow-up questions, as the room erupted into a flurry of camera flashes and urgent murmuring from the media.

The living room was silent as the President’s final words echoed from the television. The screen cut back to the news anchors who tried to summarize the bombshell revelations, but Rain barely heard them. Her hands trembled slightly as she placed the bowl of fruit down on the coffee table.
Sanya leaned back against the couch with a satisfied scoff. "Well... there it is. No turning back now. The whole country knows the truth."
Rain remained quiet, her gaze fixed on the screen as her grandfather’s face faded into a wide shot of the Presidential House. She slowly turned to Aunt Melanie, her voice soft but tense, "Is everything ready for his arrival?"
Aunt Melanie, still seated beside her, looked up with a gentle smile. "Yes, sweetheart. He wants to see you. This is a good thing."
Rain nodded, inhaling deeply. "Is the food ready? He’ll be arriving just in time for lunch, and I don’t want anything to go wrong today."
"I already checked with the kitchen," Aunt Melanie reassured her. "Everything’s prepared. We’re just waiting for the staff to set the table."
Sanya rolled her eyes good-naturedly from her seat across the room. "You act like the President is some picky food critic. He’s your grandfather. He’s coming to eat with his family, not rate a five-star restaurant."
Rain frowned at her. "He’s the President. And I’ve never really met him properly... not since the truth came out. What if he’s disappointed in me?"
Her emotions were acting up again. She hadn’t been this sensitive or irrational before, but ever since the pregnancy, she often found herself asking questions she already knew the answers to. Maybe it was just the hormones, or maybe, deep down, she just needed to hear reassurance from the people around her.
"Rain, don’t be ridiculous. He fought to reveal the truth to the entire country. He called you his granddaughter in front of millions of people. He’s not disappointed. He’s proud. And you’re carrying his great-grandchildren, for heaven’s sake," Sanya pointed out.
Aunt Melanie chuckled lightly as she adjusted one of the pillows on the couch. "Sanya’s right. He wouldn’t come here if he didn’t want to see you. You’re his daughter’s child. And now the world knows who you really are."
Rain’s lips tugged into a nervous smile. "I still can’t believe how fast everything changed. One moment I was just... living quietly with Alexander, and now I’m suddenly the daughter of Summer Cartier and Arlan... and the President’s granddaughter."
Sanya grinned. "You’re royalty now. Eat more fruit."
Rain laughed softly, the tension easing a little. Then she glanced around the room. "Where are Aunt Vernice and Father Rock? Shouldn’t they be here already?"
Aunt Melanie replied, "Technically, those two are still on their rushed honeymoon and staying onboard the yacht. They’ll be flying to Palan Island tomorrow, so they’ll probably be back late."
She was smiling, but Rain could still see the flicker of sadness in her aunt’s eyes... brief, but there. Rain reached out, gently squeezing her aunt’s hand. "I’m sorry things had to be this way," she murmured.
Aunt Melanie returned the squeeze and gave her a soft, acknowledging look. "I just feel sad about how Tim’s life turned out. He’s still my brother, after all... But he has to face the consequences of what he’s done."
