Chapter 1145: Chapter 913: Once Off-Outline, CPU Is Prone to Overload
The dishes were all good, Uncle had put in a lot of effort.
Toward the end of the meal, Uncle came up to toast, "Two guests, August is an old acquaintance, Mainshtan is someone I’ve just met."
However, there had been an introduction the first night they came for a late-night snack, so he knew this gentleman was Mr. Man from Germany.
"My cooking skill is humble, please forgive any shortcomings," he said.
"It was Professor Yang who performed the minimally invasive surgery on my back, and I have been exercising my back muscles ever since. There hasn’t been any pain after the surgery."
Uncle had an old problem with a herniated lumbar disc that had tormented him for over a decade. After becoming friends with Yang Ping and the doctors of the Surgical Research Institute, Yang Ping himself performed minimally invasive surgery on him, which had an excellent outcome. He hadn’t felt any pain since.
"The right index finger of my significant other has been in pain. We always thought it was the cold water and didn’t pay much attention, but after a long rest, it’s getting worse and we just don’t know what’s going on."
Seeing that Yang Ping had finished eating and was resting at home, Uncle took the opportunity to speak up.
"Bring your auntie here, I’ll take a look," said Yang Ping, who was drinking tea.
"Call your mother over, quick!"
Uncle immediately asked his son to call her, but his daughter-in-law was even quicker and had already gone to fetch her.
The truth is, Uncle’s family is quite hardworking. Their three-storey shop is now booming with business, and their branches are thriving as well. They have earned quite a bit of money but can’t sit still. The lady of the house, already in her fifties, still helps out in the kitchen, dealing mostly with lighter tasks due to her finger pain, avoiding washing dishes and contact with water.
Auntie hurried over, following her daughter-in-law. Yang Ping asked her to extend the finger that was in pain.
"It hurts with cold water, it hurts with hot water, and using a little force when touching anything causes pain. Even a light touch at the tip is a stabbing pain."
Auntie stretched out her right index finger and spoke seriously. The problem had existed for many years; at first, she didn’t pay much attention, thinking it was just a result of aging and frequent contact with cold water, and she hadn’t mentioned it to Yang Ping and the others. But lately, it had become increasingly painful.
Yang Ping examined her finger and asked for a toothpick. He gently pressed on her right index fingernail, then said, "This is a glomus tumor, the tumor is under the fingernail. It is hard to detect because the nail covers it up. Find some free time to visit our department, and we’ll do a small surgery to remove it, you’ll be fine after that."
When hearing the word tumor, Auntie was a bit scared.
"It’s benign, don’t worry, you’ll be fine once it’s removed, and it generally doesn’t recur. If you’re anxious, we can do a biopsy afterwards," Yang Ping said.
Yang Ping diagnosed a problem that had puzzled Auntie for many years in just a few sentences. She had long known she should have spoken to Yang Ping sooner. Auntie had wanted to bring it up, but Uncle told her not to bother Professor Yang with everything.
"Thank you!" Uncle quickly poured tea for everyone.
"We’re all so familiar with each other; there’s no need for formalities, Uncle. We can pour our own, please don’t stand on ceremony," Yang Ping said as he took the cup to catch Uncle’s tea.
Uncle insisted on pouring tea for all the doctors at the table. Everyone was used to his enthusiasm and let him have his way.
Uncle’s place had all but become the canteen for the Surgical Research Institute, so everyone was very familiar with each other. If there were any slight issues in Uncle’s household, just a word to any doctor from the Institute would settle the matter instantly, no need to go through the hassle of making appointments and queuing up.
Looking back, Uncle himself felt that he had a bit of fate with Yang Ping. One day, he was out driving to run some errands and encountered a traffic jam. An ambulance was stuck in the flow, and the doctors seemed anxious, shouting that someone inside was awaiting a lifesaving operation.
At that moment, all the drivers got out to help. With everyone’s assistance, they carried the patient out of the traffic and found a truck in front to transport the person to the hospital. Later on, he heard that the patient’s life was saved.
In order to let the stretcher pass quickly, Uncle let them carry it over his car’s bonnet, leaving a long scratch on his new car. But compared to a human life, what’s a car worth? Uncle understood this principle clearly.
Among those carrying the stretcher, there seemed to be Professor Yang, but Uncle never had the courage to ask about it and wasn’t sure either.
Later, Yang Ping came to eat at the restaurant with his girlfriend. A signature trait of surgeons was left behind: a fish with its skeleton completely intact, stripped of all flesh.
Uncle took a photo of the fish bones and turned it into a signboard. Now that picture is displayed at the entrance.
Over time, Uncle came to know that Yang Ping was the most incredible doctor at Sanbo Hospital, the best in the country, and the best in the world. As they interacted more, they naturally became friends.
---
Professor Mainshtan’s visit to Sanbo Hospital was extremely successful. He not only obtained the initiator for the Spatial Orientation Gene in muscles, but also secured the status of a Nobel Prize nominator from Yang Ping, so it was a trip that yielded great rewards.
Furthermore, in regards to the spinal cord injury repair project, he entered into in-depth and comprehensive communication with Yang Ping and received plenty of beneficial suggestions.
From his face-to-face exchanges with Yang Ping, Professor Mainshtan was astonished by Yang Ping’s rich imagination, strong logical reasoning abilities, and extraordinary memory.
Professor Mainshtan conjectured that it was these three abilities that allowed Yang Ping to conduct "brain experiments", where he could meticulously deduce any experiment in his mind, thus easily bypassing the wrong paths and swiftly moving towards the right direction.
If they had not met in person, Professor Mainshtan would have continued doubting why Yang Ping’s experiments went so smoothly, but after meeting him, he finally understood the reason.
To express his respect for Professor Yang’s father-in-law, Professor Su, Professor Mainshtan and August made a friendly visit to Affiliated Hospital No. 1 of Nandu Medical University and established a cooperative relationship with it.
