Chapter 585: Chapter 579 Delay

"What did you say?"

Jialuo, the Demon Saint, narrowed his blood-red eyes with astonishment flashing in them momentarily before it was quickly replaced by a mocking sneer.

"For the sake of survival, humans really dare to say anything."

Jialuo, the Demon Saint, let out a cold laugh while fixing his gaze on Ye Xuan, "You claim you can heal my wounds? Do you know who caused these injuries? They have plagued me for ten years. Now, a mere human child like you says you have a way? Do you think everyone here is a fool, ready to be deceived by you?"

His injuries had been inflicted by a powerful member of the Human Clan. He had almost perished at that time and had barely escaped by a stroke of luck, but as a result, he sustained severe wounds that were difficult to heal.

Despite spending countless heavenly treasures over this period, he had still been unable to fully recover. Ye Xuan, a mere Martial Venerate, was boasting such bold claims, how could he possibly believe him?

"I am not lying,"

Ye Xuan’s expression remained unchanged, "Generally, beings who have reached the Saint Realm have extremely horrifying recovery abilities and would not sustain any unhealable severe injuries unless their opponent is several levels stronger. That person not only injured you but also sealed most of your magic power source within your body, causing your current strength to be only about thirty to forty percent of your peak. Am I right?"

Hearing this, Ximen Ying and Qian Wuchen exchanged glances, equally unsure whether what Ye Xuan claimed was true. If he wasn’t accurate, they were all surely going to die.

"Young man, how did you guess this?"

Amidst the nervous glances from Ximen Ying and the others, the ferocious light in Jialuo, the Demon Saint’s eyes, unexpectedly softened a little. He did not believe that Ye Xuan was making wild guesses, nor did he think that Mo Shan and the others would have divulged such information to Ye Xuan.

"I am an Alchemist; such trifles are not difficult for me."

Ye Xuan breathed a quiet sigh of relief when he noticed Jialuo, the Demon Saint, loosening up, realizing he had hit the nail on the head. With just a slight probe using his soul power, followed by some deduction, he was able to discern the truth of the matter.

"An Alchemist?"

Jialuo, the Demon Saint, seemed surprised. To his knowledge, most human Alchemists were typically old men with white hair; young Alchemists like Ye Xuan were indeed rare.

Alchemy Skill among the Human Clan was indeed much more developed than that of the Demon Clan. Most of the Demon Clan’s medical techniques were performed through rituals and similar methods, which, while useful, were of no benefit to his injuries.

"Hmph, even if you are an Alchemist of the Human Clan, what of it? My injuries are not something an ordinary Alchemist can heal."

Jialuo, the Demon Saint, obviously wasn’t going to easily trust Ye Xuan. He was not completely ignorant of human Alchemy, and he knew that his wounds required at least a Holy-grade Alchemist to heal. Clearly, Ye Xuan had not yet reached that level; his words appeared to be nothing more than bravado.

"Without trying, how would you know?"

Ye Xuan spoke calmly, "Even if you drain the essence of our blood, your wounds will not heal. If you spare my life, we can still make an attempt. If it doesn’t work, you can easily kill us. The decision is yours to make."

At that, Jialuo, the Demon Saint’s eyes flickered momentarily. Indeed, the lives of Ye Xuan and his companions were insignificant to him. However, his injuries were truly bothering him and could directly affect his standing within the Demon Clan if not resolved promptly.

"Fine, I’ll give you a chance."

After pondering for a moment, Jialuo, the Demon Saint’s expression shifted slightly, and a chilling coldness emerged on his face, "However, if I find out that you are deceiving me, I will make you taste what it is like to wish for death yet not be able to die."

"The feeling of having all your blood drained and still never being able to die... you wouldn’t want to experience that, would you?" Jialuo, the Demon Saint, said with a cruel smile.

"None of us wants to die. I will heal your wounds, and you will spare the lives of the three of us; it’s a fair trade. Give me two months, and if I can’t do anything by then, you can kill us without delay," Ye Xuan said, his expression impassive and devoid of fear.

"Fine, then I will await your performance in two months."

Jialuo, the Demon Saint, waved his hand and then addressed the two from Mo Shan, "Take these three down. During this period, try to fulfill any requests they might have."

"As you command."

Though they were somewhat puzzled by the command of Jialuo, the Demon Saint, the two from Mo Shan dared not question him and simply followed the order.

"Let’s go."

Mo Shan glanced at Ye Xuan, thinking the latter had merely extended his life by two months. In two months’ time, Ye Xuan was sure to die even more miserably than now.

As for Ximen Ying and Qian Wuchen, they both let out a deep breath of relief, having at least saved their skins for the moment. Whether they would live or die after two months was a concern for later; what mattered was staying alive as long as possible.

After Ye Xuan and the others had left, the Semi-Saint from the Demon Clan who had led the way earlier turned to Jialuo, the Demon Saint, "Milord, do you really believe what that kid said? I think he’s just trying to save his own skin by making up that story."

"Let’s just wait and see. It’s no loss to us. Whether or not the kid has the skills to heal, I will kill them after two months," Jialuo, the Demon Saint, said, a cruel smile playing at the corner of his mouth.

Hearing this, the Semi-Saint from the Demon Clan also smiled sinisterly, "So Milord had it all planned out."

"Of course."

"I don’t need to keep my word with the Human Clan. If by some chance this kid really does find a way to return me to my prime, I’ll just kill them afterwards and drain all their blood and essence, wouldn’t that be killing two birds with one stone?" said Jialuo, the Semi-Saint, indifferently. A sly gleam passed through his eyes; he had never intended to let Ye Xuan and his companions go from the start. Such fine nourishment would be a pity to waste.

...

By this time, Ye Xuan and his party had already left the tower and were making their way through another part of the village.

"Ye Xuan, about healing that demon’s injuries, are you really confident?" Qian Wuchen asked quietly. In the current situation, their sliver of hope was all placed on Ye Xuan.

"I am."

Ye Xuan nodded, which brought great joy to Qian Wuchen and Ximen Ying, but his next words immediately made their expressions darken again.

"But even if I manage to heal that demon, do you think he will keep his promise and let us go?"

Both of them shook their heads.

Such a verbal agreement had no binding force, especially with the Demon Clan, an alien race that was an enemy to the Human Clan. The chances of them keeping their word were probably pitifully low.

"We need to find a way out within these two months."

A glint of determination sparkled in Ye Xuan’s eyes. Even in the Evil Domain, there must be a path to the Spirit Martial Continent. The Demon Clan couldn’t possibly hide in the Evil Domain forever; they must be harboring thoughts of one day returning to the Spirit Martial Continent and reclaiming their past glory.
