After speaking, he too turned and followed Elder Sima, disappearing from sight.

"Senior Liu, are you alright?"

At this time, after Long Guihai and Elder Sima had retreated, she turned to Ye Xuan and asked.

Ye Xuan waved his hand and then bowed to Huoyou Demon Venerable, "Thank you for your help in rescuing me."

"Is that really all there is to it?"

Huoyou Demon Venerable was somewhat skeptical, her eyes closely examining Ye Xuan. If it were just a grudge, it probably wouldn’t reach such an extent. There had to be more to it.

"That’s right, I also don’t know why those two are so determined to target me."

Ye Xuan shook his head. He didn’t want to reveal his identity; he thought Long Guihai was acting out of resentment because of his previous defeats to him. However, he had not anticipated that Long Guihai had already become suspicious during their last encounter and that doubt had somewhat solidified—that he might be the descendant of the Dragon Girl whom they hadn’t completely eliminated years ago. This was why they intended to capture him for interrogation.

"Since that’s the case, I won’t press further. However, I must warn you, your situation is very dangerous. This time Elder Sima returned defeated, but the next time might involve stronger experts, for the Demon Dragon Venerable wants you dead. Your chances of survival are slim. I advise you to leave quickly and find a place to hide."

Huoyou Demon Venerable wasn’t interested in why Ye Xuan was being targeted. She couldn’t risk offending the Demon Dragon Venerable to protect him, especially since she had already saved him once, considering them even. Besides, she didn’t even know that Ghost-faced Man was Ye Xuan. She only gave this warning because Ye Xuan had saved Yu Yi; otherwise, she wouldn’t have bothered to mention it.

"Thank you for your advice, Supreme," Ye Xuan bowed, making clear his gratitude. He hadn’t planned on relying on the protection of the Huoyou Demon Venerable anyway; having received assistance once was more than he could ask for.

"Yu Yi, Honglian, let’s go."

The Huoyou Demon Venerable lingered only briefly around Ye Xuan before waving her hand. Instantly, a swirl of fiery red demonic power swept up the two women. With a flash of light, the three vanished into the forest.

"The Huoyou Demon Venerable’s warning is valid. Even a Half-step Demon Venerable Elder has come to kill me. The Demon Dragon Venerable must be determined to see me dead. Though Ye Xuan’s cultivation had already reached the status of a Fifth Grade Demon King, he was still no match for Elder Sima. However, if he could raise his soul power to Great Perfection, he could cultivate a new Soul Skill—Soul-breaking Light.

He was one of Sky Demon Mountain’s two Demon Venerables, the Demon Dragon Venerable.

"That’s correct. While we can’t be a hundred percent sure, there’s a strong likelihood. He is suspect; there must be something off about him," Long Guihai nodded with a sinister look.

"If there’s an issue, why didn’t you capture him or simply kill him on the spot to root out the problem?" The Demon Dragon Venerable had long disliked Ye Xuan, and with Long Guihai’s and Elder Sima’s words, Ye Xuan’s fate was sealed.

"If not for the interference from Huoyou Demon Venerable, we would’ve already captured the lad and brought him to Demon Dragon Peak. Father, that wretched Huoyou must be taught a lesson for crossing us," Long Guihai snarled hatefully.

"Huoyou?" The Demon Dragon Venerable’s eyes flickered with a trace of surprise. "Why would she save him?"

"It seems she owed him a favor for saving Yu Yi, and so returned it by helping him this once," Elder Sima replied.

"Since that’s all, don’t bother with Huoyou. She has her backers. As long as she isn’t intentionally opposing us, there’s no need to invite trouble," the Demon Dragon Venerable cautioned Long Guihai with a warning look.

"Yes."

Long Guihai quickly nodded, realizing that Huoyou Demon Venerable indeed held some sway if even the Demon Dragon Venerable hesitated to provoke her.

"Sima Xin, capturing Ye Xuan is now your responsibility. Make sure to bring him back as soon as possible. If you can’t capture him, kill him to prevent future trouble," the Demon Dragon Venerable ordered with a sharp glint in his eyes.

"Understood."

Sima Xin bowed respectfully and then withdrew.

After Sima Xin left the hall, Long Guihai whispered, "Father, what about me? Couldn’t I join Elder Sima..."

"You need not bother; you wouldn’t be of much help. Stay here and keep an eye on Ye Mei. With this scion emerging, they might already be in contact. Watch her closely and report any strange activities at once," the Demon Dragon Venerable commanded.

"By your command."

Though displeased at being told he wouldn’t be of help, Demon Dragon Young Master had to accept the reality—he was no match for Ye Xuan, and the distance between their strength only grew. Despite being humiliated multiple times by Ye Xuan, as long as Sima Xin could capture him, he would have his chance for revenge.
